  1. "Gun show" didn't give you any hints? lol It was a new years special and you could get any message up to 35 characters laser engraved for free. /shrug. Why not
  2. Like I mentioned in my first post, I came across a decent sum of money and I could have gotten something nice and ridiculous if I wanted to. However, considering that tax return season is nigh as well as the next gun show... I went a little more budget conscious on this setup. I went with a CyberPower setup. I did a bit of research and found that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 graphics card ran smoothly (for the most part) with SWTOR and many other games. 3. Never once said I expected a killer performance. I wonder... if neither of you two read past the word "laptop", why bother posting at all? Youre not being of any help ... actually, you're not doing anything at all lol
  4. Yes I know what they do. I know what is "good enough" and sufficient but computer hardware becomes obsolete rather quickly. My current mindset is, whatever I purchase will be so that I wont have to upgrade components for years. At the same time I'm not going to buy something ridiculously cutting edge. I dont need 32GB of RAM and a 2TB HD and a 480GB SSD. I have no practical use for such things There comes a point where I have to compromise for the sake of "thinking ahead".
  5. Thanks. I'll look into Nvidia, but I dont really need a mobile gaming laptop. I could find more use in a desktop, so I'll look into some desktop Nvidia graphics cards.
  6. I respect your opinion and I do not wish to go on any further than just stating that from personal research, I will be more cost effective in building my own windows based desktop rig or buying from a company that custom builds them. My girlfriend loves her Macbook too, she uses it for her graphics design major in college. Very useful and powerful tool Fair enough Well I dont have a desktop anyways. I wanted to have one to play more "intense" PC games that my laptop cant handle, plus a permanent system to have around the house to act as my "command center" for when I set up my home security camera system lol Duly noted though, I guess I dont have to dish out on a super fancy graphics card if its a common issue despite high spec'd PCs I know right? I lol'd pretty hard. It's why I made my response short and simple. Either a troll, or just a jerk. No need to feed it
  7. where would I find this guide? Im assuming its on the forum? Yeah I'm not too worried about Linux support. Physics maybe... though I hear not too many programs are dependent on a dedicated physics card (I'm assuming thats what youre referring to?) Thanks for the quick and helpful response
  8. I'm sick of the fps issues with my Sony Vaio laptop. I never had any problems playing WoW (even at medium settings) on it. I used to raid all the time. Now it's difficult just leveling on SWTOR YES I've tried everything. I've tried the "ULTIMATE GUIDE" of freeing up computer resources by shutting down unnecessary functions/features. YES I've turned off shadows and fullscreen, updated graphics card drivers I have MORE than sufficient RAM and processing power. My laptops only weakness is its integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD graphics card. Instead of continuing down a pointless road of trying random fixes here and there and praying my fps increases, I'm just going to finally buy a desktop I'd like to ask y'all for some advice I know I dont really want to buy a prebuilt computer (Like Dell, HP, etc). If I'm not going to build it myself, I'm going to buy from a company with a ridiculous amount of options for PC builds (like Cyber Power System or my local Acer store that custom builds PCs) I recently came upon a large sum of money. I'd like to be wise and save most of it, but I dont mind spending a little extra on "must have" features that help with hardcore PC gaming I'm pretty set on an i7 core processor and at least 8GB RAM. I'll give a SSD a chance because I hear it helps quite a bit with performance. I'm pretty lost when it comes to a good choice for a graphics card. Help? Advice? Opinions? etc etc tl ;dr What computer build (what graphics card, etc etc) do yall reccommend that are known to work flawlessly with SWTOR and many popular PC games of 2011+? Thank you in advance for your time and opinions!
