  1. So myself and some of my friends are returning to swtor and looking for a well-formed, but casual guild. We're not 'hardcore' raiders but we like to do a bit of everything. I'm basically looking for a fun, well established laid back guild that has enough experience and organization to get things done. If your guild, or any that you know is looking for recruits let me know! Thanks Kaldric
  2. I have a high level Chiss sniper, so yes Though I am by no means a huge WoW fan, one of my favorite classes, gameplay wise was the Enhancement Shaman, which for those of you who haven't played that class it is somewhat like a battlemage - using melee attacking mixed with short ranged magical attacks - this seems like the Shadow to me. The main difference being Shamans wore medium armor and cannot stealth, so a little trade off there. I enjoy getting in the mix up close and personal. I'm leaning towards shadow now.
  3. So I've read a few of these post - and they're fairly informative but I'm more conflicted from a thematic stand point. I like the idea of the old Obi Wan type sage, the game play would suit me fine as I enjoy both ranged and healing. This was my favorite class type in the Old Republic games previous to this one. (The consular, which I think is more like the sage over all). The shadow I was wanting to make a Chiss Shadow. The gameplay to me sounds a bit like the enhancement shaman from warcraft + stealth. I just don't know how the Consular story line would really make sense or pull me in as a shadow? They both sound cool so I'm hoping that someone can sway me one way or the other. I'd like a fairly well rounded and versatile class, but theme is important to me as well. I would also like to be considered for raids eventually too, so keep that in mind. Thanks!
  4. Yea I think I'll just stick with Merc for now, if I decide I hate it I can always level up my "son" as a Powertech...gotta love the legacy stuff ha ha. Is there a solid website with different armor sets up on it yet? I'm a visual person and I wanted to see what I'm getting into for Merc gear.
  5. Would it be a fair assessment that merc is more centered towards PvE and Powertech is more PvP? So far I'm enjoying the Merc, got to 14 last night and I'm thinking about keeping it around since I enjoy soloing. I know all classes have their nerfs and boost and I expect TOR will be no different.
  6. Solid Advice Yazule, I actually love the play style so far that's why I was so perplexed at the hate/disappointment coming forth regarding mercs. I was assuming they would have some good flexability. I don't mind being able to kite or not, Snipers can't kite for crap and I decimated faces in PVP more often than not. Thanks for the advice man.
  7. So I took a break for awhile and decided when I came back I'd let my sniper rest for a bit. I started a Vanguard and it seemed OK and figured I'd try out the Merc. I reached level 10 last night and I started doing some research on merc at work. It seems like the overwhelming majority of the post about mercs are negative, or that the PT is overall a better class. I realize this is the forum and people are generally whiny about their classes so I take it was grain of salt haha. My original inclination to play merc was that it would be a good mix of pvp and solo ability (with the heals), but the more I read on it sounds like mercs struggle in pvp (I was thinking it would be like a paladin from WoW) and that the PvE becomes quite boring. I'm pretty early on and not afraid to re-roll and go PT. I like the feel and aesthetics of the Mercenary but I don't want to be bored later on. Any Advice from high level Mercs? Or Powertechs for that matter. - Yethek
  8. Interesting, I have yet to take the path of Sage or Shadow so I'm wondering if I want a force user that is also good at lightsaber if I should go with shadow? It wasn't what drew me to consular initially but the idea seems interesting. Can shadows still do decent force damage?
  9. So before I get yelled at, I DID do a search, but most of the results are more specific regarding the builds. I just started a sage and I'm wondering which way to take it. I know Seer is more healing specced but in general terms how would you describe Telekinetic and Balance. I'm guessing Telekinetic is more long(er) range force powers and Balance is more lightsaber focused? I'm wanting something that can compete in pvp, but also no real problem leveling in PvE.. Any guidance is appreciated.
