  1. This guy ran a scoundrel/ sawbones live stream during beta and will be doing so again once he is able to play his early access. At the moment he is running a Gunslinger/Marksmen on a friends account. Really cool guy, that is more then happy to answer questions and damm too bad we all don't have friends like he has, so if your looking for a bit of relief from the general forum crazies while we wait for our turn check out his live stream. http://www.twitch.tv/larceapollo
  2. After reading this post that reminds me that a very important question should be asked before you run with strangers. Whether its your group or some one else s. What are the loot rules and go from there. Knowing that can save you a lot of head ache and will give you a good idea of what kind of person your running with.
  3. I went with Cyber Tech , Scavenging and Underworld trading for my slinger during the Thanksgiving beta and was happy with the results I got with what little time I had to mess around with it. Here's a few reason why: First : The first few companions we get have bonuses that help out. Corso + 5 Under World Trading and + 5 Arms Tech Crit Bowdar +10 Cyber Tech +10 Scavenging How big a difference those make I'm not sure, but I'm sure it helps some Second: Unique items that we are able to make, some one all ready mentioned star ship mods, also speeder bikes and further down the tree reusable grenades that add more dps and cc utility. Third : Ear pieces that can give us some nice extra bumps to our stats. Lastly during the beta I had no real issues gather the materials I needed to make just about anything I wanted to make when I wanted to make it, unless I was missing a schematic for it. Fortunetly I did figure out that we can buy more schematics from the trainer once we reach a certain lvl of Cyber tech. Just my 2 cents
  4. I totally agree that we will be one of the less common classes and hope it stays that way for a long time. In my opinion I think it may go something like this in terms of how common specs are with us Slingers. Marksmen Saboteur Dirty Fighting With a certain amount of hybrids mixed in depending on our personal preferences and play style. Personaly atm I'm on the fence as to weather go mostly sab or a hybrid of sab and df.
  5. I think that's a decent build and with the changes that Smiego-Wan mentioned you will do well. It is a matter of personal preference and how well it meshes with your play style after all. I got a Slinger/Sab to 26th during the Thanksgiving beta and had a lot of fun. I did have some points in a few skills that you chose not to and that's all good, as I said its a matter of your personal play style. I personally though would put points in hot pursuit. Its a good skill to have weather its pvp or pve and here's why. Maxed out at 2 points it give's you 100% chance to fire off charged burst when you exit cover and as you may or may not know its one of our burst dps skills. Having the ability to use it on the fly when your forced to leave cover is very useful to maintain dps. Here's one example: In some boss fights you will have to move from cover when you are targeted by a aoe attack that will in all likely hood eat up a good chunk of hps. Having it up will allow you to do some good dps for a moment while you relocated and get back into cover. Now as I mentioned its all a matter of personal preference and play style. I for example am still on the fence about going mostly Sab with a few points in DF or going sab/df hybrid, which with a casual glance looks like it will complement each other fairly well. That's just my 2 cents and hope it helped ya out a bit
  6. I played a slinger/ sab to 26th lvl during the Thanksgiving beta and had a lot of gun in pve and pvp with it. It worked well in both settings and was some of the most fun I had in pvp in a long time. I had a pretty long thread I wrote before the beta wipe that I wish I had saved so I could re post it, but alas I didn't think that far ahead. I went with the Sabatour and Dirty fighting tree. Sadly I didn't get too far into the DF tree since I was more focused on the Sab tree, but they do seam to complement each other nicely if you are looking to go for a hybrid. If you have any question's let me know. I won't say I know everything, but have a good feel for the basics and am happy to help if I can.
  7. I'm glad I didn't get in today, so I could focus on job hunting and guess what got a interview set up for later this week, also tomorrow is my birthday, so it would be nice to get in tomorrow instead since it would be like a extra little birthday gift to me. From the looks and sounds of things they are breaking things up by the month you pre ordered so if they let the August people in tomorrow that's awesome. If not I will keep looking for a full time job instead of this part time BS.
