  1. Rey is Luke's daughter, Ren will now have a reason to wear the mask, there will be some more struggling Rey will kill Ren, or Ren will throw Snoke down a big shaft in a last moment epiphany. Take your pick. Either way... that's that.
  2. You are a bit dense are you? Luke and Anakin being on Tatooine makes sense, considering Luke being Anakin's son, and was left with family. Jakku is basically Tatooine 2.0 because... well they didn't want to use Tatooine again, but still wanted to use it, so they just changed the name and BAM. Wow such prophetic writing you are right, the struggle these guys must have had to write this all in, and design the sets.
  3. Because these guys are so full of themselves, they will not work with what has been written so far. Instead they named the planet with a Hebrew name.... Geee how original
  4. Its not a terrible movie, if you compare it to some of the really bad movies out there, its not bad. However, it is not a great Star Wars movie, in fact, it didn't really feel like star wars. And like others have pointed out, I think probably because we have all come to expect some level of Lucas artistic inputs as far as sets/story telling. I really think they made a big mistake for at least not consulting with Lucas, if you want to pay "homage" or do something right, I would never have just told the guy who basically came up with the whole thing, to beat it. I know the new Star Trek movies had a lot of critical praise, and audiences loved it, but I thought they were not Star Trek movies. They made action movies with Star Trek imagery. And to me, that's what this Star Wars movie was. It was an action/nostalgic movie, with Star Wars imagery. But what was the core of the old movies? It was the story, and the characters. I mean the acting was shoddy at best even back then, but at least the story, and dialogue was memorable. Think of all the quotable Yoda phrases? Darth Vader? Even the music, man, I will say, the music for this movie was meh. At least Ep1 had better music, but this was something else. So it is just hard for me to accept this as a proper star wars film. I did enjoy watching it, and don't get me wrong it is entertaining. But as a Star Wars film, I would put it in the mix with the prequels as far as overall score. There is no way in hell that it is better than return of the jedi, even keeping in mind the entire terrible Ewok fight against the empire (which was crap dammit...), What will remain memorable about TFA? I think I could rewatch (and have) the originals many many times. The prequels not so much, but TFA eh, I really don't see it holding up well over time. I would venture a guess it will have a worse shelf life than the prequels.
  5. Plenty of non force users used lightsabers, I don't see it as a them not being able to use it, they will just never be as effective at using them as a force user, so typically no real reason for them to wield one regularly., Anyways, on the whole Rey vs Ren thing. Look, he isn't a fully trained Jedi/Dark Jedi. But, he is not a novice either, from what we get in the movie, he is about 10 years Rey's senior, and he has trained with Luke as a kid. At the VERY LEAST he is padawan/apprentice level. You see first hand his ability to wield the force through and through in the movie itself. Rey has had 0 formal training that she can remember, and when she was abandoned on the planet she was a little girl. So at the MOST she had a couple of years of training that she might not remember. Meaning any way you cut it, he has many more years on her as far as training is concerned. The big problem with this movie is consistency, and a toilet paper thin story. If you really pay attention, most of the big events just kind of happen, and the character development is based upon our previous knowledge of the original heroes essentially. What makes Rey's character so likeable and familiar? Because its Luke Skywalker with *******. I really like her role, but the amount of character building is laughable. You are just told about something a few times, and you come to accept it, and they make a point of mentioning it a few times, so you know they mean business. Like how Poe is the best fighter in the resistance... really? Ok... we'll take your word for it... that lets them get away with him doing things early on that you wouldn't otherwise expect. As for the duel between Finn and Ren, Rey and Ren. Even with a shot to his gut, he flung Rey like a ragdoll at first, and he was able freeze her earlier, and read minds of others etc. This is not "novice" level force usage. As for Rey, I am sorry, but her mastering the force in 5-15minutes is lust laughable, this basically makes the entire concept of training that Luke underwent with Yoda, and years of training that Ren had, pretty much obsolete. She had no idea what a Jedi was 5 minutes before her encounter with Ren, then suddenly she can read his mind, Jedi mind trick, and force pull as if she had been doing it for years. I mean, this is a huge problem for the story for me, that really craps all over the previous canon, all because the writers were too lazy to move the story along in other ways. I could understand him having a hard time or not being able to read her mind or get info out of her, as innate force resistance I would be able to stomach just fine. But the way they handled it was too much. As for blowing up star killer base. Come on, that entire meeting went along the lines of something you would expect in a crime boss film with Joe Pesci deciding how to knock off a bank. Yeah, see slim, you was the janitor yeah? Lets bring down those shields, and tiny over here will go in and clobber the safe open see? Kapish? Look at return of the jedi, it took the entire rebel fleet plus quite a few fighters to pierce through and help from a ton of mostly useless teddy bears. And that death star wasn't even complete. This was a much bigger base, with full capabilities and fighters, and 12 fighters, and only 12 fighters made it through, with the help of some hand explosives. There was no real climax to the movie, or sense of suspense, they just moved from scene to scene with easy. Even the meeting between Han Solo and Ren was stupid and predictable. I really wish Harrison Ford got his wish and Han had been killed off in ROTJ like he wanted. This movie is basically everything you would expect from a JJ Abrams movie, cheap thrills, relying on Nostalgia and already established ideas to entertain the masses, meanwhile taking a steaming pile of **** on the canon, and other work, as well as the heart and soul of the franchise. The originals were not perfect by a long shot, but they had a prophetic, theological aspect to it. The force, the battle of good and evil was handled in a very eloquent way, Episode VII is basically a version of "Star Wars for Dummies". If you truly think this was a great Star Wars film, you probably missed the point of what Star Wars is about. And I know people will rag on George Lucas because he has lost his touch over the years, but say what you will, even with the terrible writing, and dialogue in the prequels, they did at least handle a more complex story. Those movies suffered from terrible dialogue and acting, but overall storytelling was not bad. This movie has good acting, and visuals, but the storytelling is just crap. I know it should come to no surprise to anyone, that Lucas himself was not a fan of it, whether through bitterness or that someone else has taken a direction of his baby somewhere he did not wish it to go.
  6. I gotta say, I was also pretty damn disappointed with the movie. I get that Kylo Ren is still what would amount to a padawan or acolyte, but even a trainee as it were, is a force to be reckoned with. He went through some level of force training, as well as lightsaber training. You can tell from his few examples, he is able to force information out of people, stop a blaster, and move people with ease. He isn't a master, but he doesn't have to be in order to be strong. Even injured, he would be a formidable person. I will say, I liked Rey's overall character, what I didn't like was her ability to use the force in 15minutes, I mean, this is a massive damn plot hole. Why even bother with Jedi training, or sith training, when a 15min video would be sufficient to get everyone up to speed. Think about the original movies? It took Luke a long time to get some level of control and that was training under Yoda. This girl just kind of figures it out in a few minutes? What a joke, this is lazy writing is what it is, forcing the story along without wanting to invest in building up the character. JJ Abrams cuts corners to fit his narrative big time (and this isn't the only movie he does this in). Even injured, why would Kylo Ren even need to fight Finn? Could he just force push his *** into a tree? He had no troubles before. He might be an acolyte, but he has still had years of training compared to 15minutes that Rey had. Injured or no, he should not have had any trouble with Finn. I can see Rey putting up a fight with the saber sure, but not with any force control elements. There could have been a better way for her to be freed, perhaps her technical knowledge or something. This entire movie was ****, it was entertaining, but from content and writing it was terrible. The prequels were bad because of terrible acting, and CGI, this movie was terrible because of a **** story, plot holes, and complete disregard for the Star Wars Universe. JJ Abrams needs to be stopped before he ruins anymore iconic movies/shows...
  7. I unsubbed the other night. In the beginning I was a pretty big fan of the game, but I think what I ultimately came to realize is that it just lacked long term involvement. I was hoping it would have some elements of SWG, but just correct a lot of the wrongs that game had. One thing that I didn't really want to accept in the beginning was that in a lot of ways the game played like WoW, but with some improvements. Eventually, I do have to acknowledge this, it is very similar in some ways, (gameplay wise), and I am completely sick of WoW. There is no true feel of conflict between Empire and Republic outside of the warzones. Which was one nicer aspect of Galaxies, you could attack each other's bases etc. There is almost no interaction between Republic and Empire. I saw 1 Republic player on a planet (other than Ilum). Thats right, just 1, on Hoth. The class quests while cool, did not make me feel any different outside of the original quest. I played a Bounty Hunter in SWG, and the way the entire class leveled was different from others. Granted the investigation tree was a giant PITA, it was an interesting concept, that if done right (And worked properly) would be very nice. Space is an afterthought. It really seems to be, all you see of it, is mostly from the shuttling from one ship to the next, or in the optional missions, which really don't do much of anything. It just doesn't feel like STAR Wars, as we spend most of the time on planets, and oddly enough, in the wilderness. I like Nar Shadaa a bit because of the inner city feel, but again, it was kind of disappointing that you are restricted to just some areas, and the whole game felt way too scripted. I had really high hopes for this game, and unfortunately, maybe it is the product of all the hype, and people's expectations, that it just failed to deliver on.
  8. They should just give it to anyone who has had an active subscription since 2011 or a leve l 50. And that there would stop the majority of the whining. If your are outside of that scope, sorry. You can go ahead and complain.
  9. Force choke seemed to be pretty useless before. It has admittedly been a while since I used carnage. But the priority is still up top, has anything really changed with the new patch? I wouldn't think so..? The only questions that popped up were whether its useful to use ravage as Annihilation now, but it still doesnt seem like it would be a huge boost. Either way: Opener: Force Charge > Battering Assault > Massacre > Gore > Force Scream >Ravage Continuous fight: Gore > Force scream > Ravage > Massacre. While you want to make sure you hit massacre before hitting gore, as you want the auto crit Force scream.
  10. There are quest pieces on Taris that are like Marauder Elite vest or something. Also some are crafted. These are all moddable orange gear, so if you want to look like an imperial guard, do those quests. I also believe all of them are repeatable. The helm you can get with Belsavis commendations also I think.
  11. A tier system where we can earn or buy capital ships (rather guild capital ships) and even get somewhat larger frigates etc. would be really nice.
  12. Tionese, Columi, and Rakata pieces all have hoods. They get obstructed by the helmet however. With changes to armor crafting, and reverse engineering, people will be able to craft the tier gear look alikes. If you have helmet graphics disabled, it will show you with a hood. However they did mention they will allow you to force hood up display (clipping issues used to occur). Anyways, Marauder with helmet +hood will look pretty sweet. As far as leveling goes, who cares, go solo black talon a few times, get the robes, pull mods out, and enjoy until you are 50. The negligible armor difference you will lose in it being a light piece of armor is not going to affect you in any noticeable way. This is really not a very huge topic. As far as leveling is concerned, a moddable chest (albet light) can be used, and once you hit 50, you have plenty of armors with a hood.
