  1. Assuming you're talking about the hybrid 14/27 PvP spec or similar since you didn't specify, but it applies to a 31 def spec as well. The problem is your gear, not the spec. Replace the tank mods with DPS mods. Problem solved.
  2. So you're complaining about survivability as Focus spec or what? You want the best burst along with the best survivability? I don't get it.

Speccing 14/27 def/vig for Warding Call and pure damage mitigation or whatever gets you Blade Barrier gives you some of the best survivability in the game, not factoring in healer specs for obvious reasons. If you need escape tools and Guardian Leap isn't good enough to solve your problem, you're playing your class wrong.

  3. I don't leave any warzones. Done in an hour.

Amazing things happen when you're not a scumbag leaver.

This. I have no problems completing my daily easily on both my 50s without leaving. Most of the time when some moron leaves after 1 minute we get a competent player to replace him and manage to win out anyway. My server is pretty good at abusing dumb players and leavers by now and well, most who really care are Battlemasters by now so it's pretty easy to win.

  4. You're joking right?

No, it's absolutely true. Most ranged attack abilities in the game are actually tech/force, "magic" if you will, and ignore defenses completely. That includes tanking stats besides armor, and your cover. Enjoy.

  5. Is it just me, or are you basically condemned to the worst healers in the game when you PvP without a premade? I'll be running the Huttball as a Jugg, and the healer standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME is trying to kill some non-factor Assassin or something in the pit!

So... anyone got some things for me to look out for as a healer Merc in PvP?

I did the same thing as you. My main is a Guardian, my alt is a now 50 and PvP geared Commando Combat Medic. Enjoy being an unkillable one man winning machine. You won't even need peels and guard, so bad tanks won't impact you too much.

The only real possible problem you will run in to is that your team may have such low DPS that no enemy will ever die unless you help focus them with Power Shots.

  6. Long story short is, to be able to compete at level 50 in PvP you have to gear up, and in order to gear up, you have to PvP, problem is that until you gear up, you just can't compete, but you can't gear up unless you can compete.

Wrong. Go do Ilum/Belsavis PvE dailies. And even if you don't like the Ilum PvP pulling party, it's free gear you don't have to compete for.

  7. The day cross-server warzones get implemented is the day I'll stop doing them because there's no fun playing with complete strangers that you will never see again, and if there's no other decent PvP in the game by then I guess I'll have to quit.

It's like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound. Consolidating the player base to fewer but more highly populated servers is the only way to go. And if you like PvP and picked the overpopulated faction it's only fair to suffer for it. Even Huttball shouldn't be same faction. There needs to be an incentive to balancing the factions.

  8. Ok fine, so you do not like the "feeling" of instanced pvp being separate from the regular world? So the downside is that we have lop sided fights with one side being outmatched.

I mean who would want unbalanced pvp to begin with? That is the entire reason world pvp in WoW went away.

I mean are you guys that rp nerdy that you have to have the pvp "feel" meaningful? Its one person playing against another person. That is pvp in my book...

World PvP only went away in WoW because, after crashing the servers on an uncountable number of occasions, Blizzard invented instanced minigames and made sure the rewards gained from it was 100x better in order to actively discourage real PvP, because their servers simply couldn't handle so many players actually having fun.

  9. Dailies are like a job, which is why I hate them and think they are a stupid solution to get people to keep playing.

Dailies shouldn't be win 3 WZs they should be:

    a. Pass the Huttball to a player who then scores

    b. Score the Huttball

    c. Capture a Turret on Alderaan

    d. Interrupt a player from planting a bomb in The Voidstar

Complete 30 of these types of actions.

THAT is the only solution to getting people to not leave.

    WHY I LEAVE:

    I work for a living.

Don't think a game is important enough to stay up late and feel tired in the morning.

I still have student loans to pay off.

My time is valuable to me and won't be wasted in a 5-0 Huttball game or a Voidstar where the first attackers get to the end door with 4 minutes to spare.

Sorry, but if they don't change the WZ system to the above, and instead institute a 30 minute lockout timer I will cancel my sub right then.

Get it right Bioware, don't listen to the people who want a debuff.

You apparently don't have time to play anyway. You can cancel your sub right now, because it's going to happen.

  10. Hahaha you call me out for "assuming that you know anything about me" and yet you claim to know everything about my entire server and them being bad :D And perhaps the entire international community of guild wars and its several thousand guilds are also bad :D Whatever makes you happy buddy. My over inflated ego is justified by my accomplishments and is also a testament to my experience. What do you have to back your claims up with? A failing logic and a comment saying "global cooldown argument, laughable" which isnt even a retort to an argument.

But its okay, one can never win an argument on the forums. Cause whenever you provide evidence to being a good player, you are instead called out for having an ego, thus you can never prove you are good. Well done, way to fall under the forum lemmings, but you had already proved that earlier on in this discussion.

I didn't claim to know anything about your server or the people on them. You did that for me when you posted claims that you were the best Guardian. I have my own accomplishments thank you very much, but I don't use them to inflate my arguments with ego. I prefer to use logic and facts.

  11. Had a nice fight and was actually worried I was going to lose my ship. After I killed the guy and looted his ship I had a rush of adrenaline and was trembling uncontrollabley. This is from the excitement of having risk/reward PvP. I don't recall once ever experiencing this in SWTOR PvP. I was actually nervous when PvPing.

See ya SWTOR back to Eve-Online I go. This is a TERRIBLE PvP game!

I agree with the sentiment of what you're saying, but Eve is still terrible despite that, which is quite an accomplishment. Sorry.

  12. Global cooldown argument? Really? Laughable.

I watched the video, and yes, as a result of clicking your relics/adrenals/medpacs and whatever else, you're bad. Period. That everyone else playing Guardian on your server is apparently worse only says that the others are absolutely beyond horrific or simply undergeared.

Love the ego though, it's hilarious how overinflated it is. Keep assuming that you know anything about me or anyone else criticizing clickers if it makes you feel better about being lazy.

  13. If you think 100ms doesn't matter, especially when it adds up over multiple abilities, you're ignorant. Even disregarding the 100ms it's physically impossible to be as competent playing while clicking abilities as you would with keybinds since a keybinder uses the mouse fully at the same time while a clicker can't do anything with the mouse at the same time and turning with the keyboard is retarded. End of story.

And you can stop the ******** about class competence already, no one cares if you think you're the best in the world because you're not and you're proving it right here with every post. It's the same story with every clicker. "I'm awesome at the game and I click." No, that means you're bad and you're comparing yourself with people who are even worse in order to make excuses not to improve. Same deal with balance whiners.

  14. Im sorry your point still fails. Sabre ward gives 100% block chance for 2 seconds yes, do I lose any of the block time if I click it 100ms slower? if its even that. In fact most times when someone is about to unload burst they stun you, e.g an operative, so usually you have to use your CC break and then follow with sabre ward, RARELY do you EVER have a situation where you need to reflex a burst of damage with sabre ward considering the only true burst class will stun you before they burst. Aside from that you have sentinels or gunslingers one of which is sustained damage the other of which casts gunshots before they hit you. So no im not making excuses and its really not sub optimal when there is no purpose to having it pressed faster by 100ms. The point of this entire dumb argument is that the benefit is so minor that it pales in comparison to any of the other skill based aspects a player can establish, so much so that its impact is entirely neglible to one's level of play and thus this entire delusion that people have about "OMG HE CLICKS SOMETHING" is purely one which lemmings who follow the forum posts say.

And I havent ever played WoW, but I am more the guy who carries the entire team. WoW is for bad pvpers, I only play objective based pvp.

No the point is that binding stuff and performing other skill based aspects isn't mutually exclusive, in fact it complements each other since it saves time, and so the only reason to stay a clicker is because you're lazy and unwilling to improve. As far as your examples go I only have one thing to say. You waste saber ward on 1on1s? Funny.

  15. Actually incorrect, if trooper has it i don't know but the instant free heal is the 31 point ability that you CANNOT get with a hybrid so try again. Kolto shell/whatever troopers have while instant is not an instant heal only a support heal.

Ive also tried the hybrid spec, and i must say i do pretty much the same damage as full healer but with much better healing, if you want a better spec(in my opinion only of course) go combat medic/ assault.

And as for dominating as a merc please, what shrubs have you been playing against? Takes ONE juggernaught and your dead or atleast out of the fight(pushed down). Because you know you cant use knockback while rooted and they can spec immunity after charge aswell.

Ive said it already many times, while not useless there are SEVERAL classes that are severely gimped in Huttball. I have other characters and many are so much more fun and usable in Huttball compared to my merc.

Wasn't really talking about the 31 pointer. Talking about combat support rapid shots. But it doesn't matter, both are good for Huttball and you don't need everything at once to be useful. I also wrote that the AoE heal should be supercharged and used for 10% damage reduction along with its normal buff if you spec for it. Neither of these heal for much at all, including the 31 pter but healing on the move is more important than anything else healing wise in Huttball. Now you say: LOLOL Static Barrier OP! You can't stack Static Barrier, you're supposed to use all of the above in addition to it.

Regardless, the purpose of the hybrid spec isn't for more damage, it's for the knockbacks.

If one Jugg can kill you you're just bad. Same with knocking you off unless he's Vengeance specced as you say. CC break while he's flying to you + knockback as soon as he lands. Push has some delay as well. Even if he's Vengeance and even if he does exactly that to you, you're not the only one defending unless your team is bad and now his push and charge is on cooldown. Besides, Juggs do that to EVERY class, not just Mercs. It doesn't make Mercs useless unless you're arguing that the only viable Huttball team consists of 8 Juggs.

I've played a ton of characters as well and Merc/Commando definitely has a place in a proper Huttball team which is why I bothered to level it to 50 and gear it out. Just because a properly specced Jugg and Sorc may be better overall, doesn't mean Mercs don't have a very important role to fill on the same team, that they do much better than those two classes.

People just need to stop treating it like a freaking single player game and exaggerating class weaknesses because they're bad. Even as a Vengeance Jugg you can't carry an entire team of bads by yourself vs a really good team. You still need support and people to charge to.

  16. Guardians have no 5 min cool downs, I was using this as a generalization, we do however have 3 min cool downs and I dont need to activate these ASAP because im smart enough to anticipate incoming damage and thus be ready in advance, not have to react to an already screwed up situation.

Considering saber ward only gives 100% for 2 seconds, "anticipate incoming damage" means you're either wasting much of it, or you're wasting precious mouse usage time on hovering over the ability. You're just making excuses at this point but it's fine, you can delude yourself however much you want, it's still sub-optimal.

I don't really care about your "achievements" because even at the highest levels of say WoW arena play there are some players that are worse and are being carried by the rest of their team.

  17. You need to L2READ. this thread isn't about a merc in PVP.. it's about the usefulness of a merc and agent in huttball.

Exactly EVERY point I mentioned applies to winning Huttball specifically, your job is to position yourself on the high paths and clear out enemies with your knockbacks to help the carrier get through and make life miserable for their offense, all while doing DPS/healing on critical players as needed. This post only reinforces that you have no idea how to play a Merc in Huttball. The problem is you, not the class.

    you need to L2P

you have completely confused two different trees in merc, with the list that you have created it would require two full trees

you have so many inaccuracies in that list its not even worth picking apart, what youve listed is a complete misunderstanding of what is possible within a single build especially as an arsenal spec

and 9 second cooldown knockback? what planet are you on? what class are you playing? your list is so wrong its ludicrous

have you actually played a merc? do you know how useless that rocket punch knockback is? it doesnt matter that its every 9 seconds, its a SLOW animation and it only knocks back 2 meters.

it takes litterally 1 step to move back into position, the amount of time it takes to be back in range from that knockback is the amount of time it takes for the animation to complete and the merc put their feet back on the floor

this means that there is no value to the knockback, the person being knockedback is simply not removed from the fight in any meaningful way and is able to continue DPS at the same time the merc animation from the punch completes

The list mentions benefits from two trees yes, but if you wanted you could spec into everything I mentioned with a 24/17 build. Nothing about the OP says arsenal only, and if you're fully specced Arsenal and having problems then it's either your spec or just you that's useless, not Mercs.

Yes, 9 second cooldown knockback aka Rocket Punch. It doesn't matter if it only knocks back a small distance because distance is irrelevant. The high paths on Huttball are extremely small if you haven't noticed, so it's not about range, it's about knocking them off the platform. Positioning is not that hard if you're not retarded. AoE knockback entire enemy team, potential Jugg carrier charges up, knock him down again. Not that many are Vengeance specced for CC immunity after charge, and if they are, there are no issues with waiting 4 seconds unless you're bad.

There's nothing wrong or inaccurate in my post and you haven't specified anything because you can't. You know why? Because I actually play a Commando 24/17 hybrid. My character has everything I listed in one spec. Sorcs, that everyone complains about, will never occupy the high ground while I'm there because my AoE knockback activates faster and has a larger radius. Speed isn't even an issue because you're supposed to be there before they get there. That's your job.

You can't even seem to coherently form an argument at all, just spewing rage because you get owned in Huttball because you're bad. You telling me to L2P when I destroy premades with my Commando, while you're erroneously whining that Mercs are useless is pretty funny.

  18. Mercs useless?

Let's see what you can do with a properly specced Merc...

One of the best AoE knockbacks in the game. 15-20 sec cooldown. Infinitely better than Inquisitor's knockback.

9 sec cooldown single target knockback.

    Free instant heal.

Healing shield whatever it's called for Mercs.

Supercharged AoE heal for 10% damage reduction.

    Uninterruptable with shield up.

    Normal heals.

Pretty much unkillable unless they REALLY focus you, and then your carrier is free to do whatever they wish.

Can spam power shot/tracer missile at carrier from wherever when appropriate.

You just need to L2P. I know because I play a commando hybrid and I do all these things and just laugh while knocking down the entire enemy team over and over again and do whatever I want the rest of the time. A correctly played Merc/Commando is untouchable in Huttball. Same with Alderaan CW if you stay on the balconies at mid.

  19. I do not need to overload my keybinds, I do not need to purchase a naga mouse which can be inconvenient for some depending on your hands. I am more readily available to press twitch skills which are more crucial to my play as I otherwise would be had my fingers been moved to a more inconvenient location, this would be with regards to off cool down skills for a jedi guardian such as riposte, taunt, force kick. I am more capable of clicking my push to talk if I have less keybinds, and its more important for me to say something in time than hit a 5m cool down skill with a keybind.

I can hit every ability I please and more without depressing my push to talk button. Sounds like you haven't even tried to optimize your setup. Hallmark of a bad player. Guardians have exactly zero 5 minute cooldowns BTW. If we're talking 3min cooldowns, then activating saber ward ASAP is extremely important in more than a couple scenarios.

It's time to face the facts. It makes you indisputably less of a player.

  20. I know for a fact I have outplayed some keybinders, just like being a clicker doesnt make you bad, being a keybinder doesnt make you good

It makes you worse than your potential. Not fixing a critical but easily fixed issue that would improve your gameplay immensely makes you a bad player.
