So... I have characters on an origin server for the free transfers... and I've got characters on a destination server for free transfers. I'm thinking "Hurah! This works out perfectly. I and my guild on the origin server can all just go to the server where I've got my other characters and we can consolidate everything! Yay!" And then, when I log in to do the actual transfers, I notice that it's not ANY origin server to ANY destination server. Oh no! It's each origin server to a SPECIFIC destination server! At that point, why in the hell do we even have to log in to perform the transfers? Why not just move us all automatically if there's no choice in the matter anyhow? And now I'm left asking how long it'll take before we can actually move where we want.

Information on pre-order statistics is available online at VGstats. While those don't include the online pre-orders (so far as I know), they do provide a pretty good indicator of the overall pattern in pre-orders. Based upon that, Wave 1 today is already TWICE the size of any of the waves yesterday. Assuming they can keep pace with that, that's a very good sign for September pre-orders. Based upon yesterday's pace, we would expect to get in on Thursday, but DOUBLING the rate at which they're letting people in means we have at least a chance of getting in later today. Think of it this way: September 1st: There are ~120,000 people ahead of you in line. September 30th: There are ~240,000 people ahead of you in line. Day 1 invites were roughly 50,000 per wave. First wave of Day 2 had roughly 100,000. Make of that what you will.

Using the VGstats numbers for pre-orders by date, it looks like Bioware just let in around 100,000 people in Wave 1 (July 28th through August 8th). That's twice the size of any of the Day 1 waves. Assuming they keep that up, September should start seeing entries by Wave 3 today and may even get the entire month in by Wave 4. That depends on them keeping pace with such a large number of pre-orders per wave, though...

Been reading through the August thread. First wave was July 28 - August 8th. That's... pretty good, really. If that keeps pace and we have 4 waves today, almost all of September might get in. I wasn't expecting to get in before tomorrow, so now I'm (very cautiously) optimistic.

Yeah, but that's also the most likely outcome on both counts - so you may not be disappointed.

I built a spreadsheet yesterday with the VGstats info with similar assumptions and came to similar conclusions to the OP, though with a couple differences: * MORE people get in on Thursday (through early October) * MORE people get in on Friday (through the end of October) * FEWER people to get in on Saturday (only partway through November - when the pre-orders spiked due to the open beta) Either way, it's likely my September 7th pre-order isn't getting in until Thursday.
