make sure you have no conflicting missions such as the Weekly (Master) Flashpoints, they can do weird things to your supposedly story solo mode experience (speaking as somebody who recently debugged this very problem). Reset all flashpoints, (reset everything), abandon all weekly and daily missions, before clicking "Launch". Took me a while to figure out why I had no kolto stations, and no Tau Adair to champion for me, while trying to solo Meridian (even though I entered the FP via story "launch" and cut scenes and- even if the difficulty mode was clearly showing "story"), I was actually running the FP in master mode.

just completed on heroic with a Smuggler (Ruffian) 290 ish gear, lvl 50 hk51 on heals, no alliance buffs. Things I will remember about my first Star Fortress (Veteran/Heroic) : I died a hell of a lot (x 5 per boss encounter) prison break was fun skipping a lot of mobs (a class that can stealth smooths progress through the challenge) first boss was a struggle until I sorted out positioning (either hk51 getting thrown off the platform, or myself) pre-fina bossl encounter = endless waves of mobs, ... very very tedious, (but not difficult) end boss fight (when you finally get there) comparatively easy, getting to the fight was far harder. having a lvl 50 companion healer is vital it isn't easy, but it is doable. If you fall, get up and try again, persistence pays. I wish there were some way to share progress on this mission within a legacy, because even for one toon, completing the entire mission chain (of which 6 heroic runs..)

Problem with the cybernetics armour (which I use on a sentinel) is that it is both too simplistic, lacking customization beyond 2 tone colours, and lacking droidesque abilities/emotes... It also most strongly appeals to RP players, but how many servers are RP? Playable race with both unique class and storyline, faction neutral until lvl 15/20ish single wield ? done dual wield ? done too Double bladed ? done to death Quadruple wield ? You know you want to. Mentioning droids as a playable race will only bring the worst of us into comments

We have cyborgs and all manner of alien species as playable, while each faction has 8 classes. It is time to give players both new playable species, and a new class with its own storyline. Obviously, blindingly obviously, droids are perfectly adaptable to this. Faction neutral, fresh off the production line, or found on a scrap heap and patched up, the potential for a story is boundless, both serious and fun. What would a droid class look like? There are several styles of Droid in game already, but clearly something that emphasised their retro electro-mechanical look. ideas? opinon?

your right, pvp gear is good for pvp, pve gear for pve ; it's that simple. I think initial post is really good and comprehensive, but it could do with a little tweaking.

Just to say, crafting is worth the effort...: Well, 6th character and I decided to go the crafting route, armortech, by the time I got to Lvl 50, half my armour was tier 126 purple (equippable at lvl 49). Now doing daily hardmodes without a problem, and will probably be making rakata tier 140 secondary gear myself within a week (faster than grinding tokens...) By the way, crafters can get Rakata gear BEFORE anyone else, non-crafters have long slow token grind to get any tier 140 gear. Quick list of the usual moans and groans I here about crafting : What about the stuff i can't craft ? Buy them, at least on my server, galactic market prices are VERY accessible Crafting takes forever to level ! False, just went from zero knowledge to lvl 49/50 epic crafting in one week. In fact crafting is too easy. Crafting is expensive ! False, When you unlock epic lvl 49 recipes they can sell for anywhere between 15 and 150k credits depending on your server. Also, crafted items are cheaper to repair than token reward items. Summary "waste of resources?" Save yourself the tedium of repeating daily quests endlessly on your own on Ilum or Belsavis, and get crafting:D
