  1. ...

It's been said many times, but DAoC did it right. Darkness Falls was the best pvp concept any developer has put into a game, and the Star Wars universe has plenty of reasons to implement a similar construct. World pvp that gives both pvp and pve incentives benefits everybody.

    ...

Darkness Falls was indeed fun PvP. Combination of running a graduated gauntlet of mobs and bosses and all the while watching for the other realms to break through with some overpowered whup***. Always kinda kept me alert anyway.

I don't think it would work quite as well with only two realms though.

    We should consult with Mandalore.

  2. Yeah I totally agree. To continue the paradigm the next time I play chess I'll require that my rooks should both be queens so I won't have to bother playing a new game everytime I'm beaten.

Dual specialization, if implemented, will entail sacrifice elsewhere. If you get what you are requesting I wager you won't much prefer the outcome.

  3. Cute, I'll match wits and education with you anytime. As my post pointed out his arguments lacked logic as he contradicted himself the more he posted.

If you knew better, then choosing the rhetorical ad hominem attack rather than any effective counter to his reasoning was an intentional deceit.

Interesting revelation. I rather preferred to think you just didn't know better.

  4. Yes you seem to be the final say on whether someone's argument against yours is valid. You contradict yourself more and more each post. If you can't see the valid arguments made by Niacin (or whatever his name is on the previous page) then it shows you're just blind to your own side. It's fine that you feel the way you do, but don't say that everyone's argument is valid and then continue to berrate everyone else who has an opinion that differs from yours.

Dual (not duel by the way) spec:

Reduces in game immersion. It's a ROLE playing game. Whether you choose to actual RP or not (I don't) isn't the point. When you are creating and developing a character you are choosing to fulfill a certain ROLE.

You have eight character slots, use them.

If you're a guild leader and you're having a hard time filling out the proper roles in your raid then you're obviously not doing an adequate job of recruiting the right classes.

Actually Western Civilization has been built in part around the principles of Logic and Rhetoric: You have been outclassed by someone actually educated.

Back to the subject: seems to me a simple thing to put just enough points into healing to do the job and the rest into survival/dps skill tree categories.

  5. Rather than deathstar as your highest goal, since Lightside has no equivalent I'd recommend a small planet area with defense-oriented installations (purchasable and upgradable). Guild/NPC automated defenses could be supplemented by defending guild members.

Guilds might choose between urban, ruin, wilderness, arctic, etc. environments.

The benefits might be harvestable resources.

Then the big guilds can invade one another organized into operation-sized units.

For the smaller guilds, the guild ship should be boardable by opposing guilds. In fact, this could be a scenario for a warzone.

  6. I suppose your all-knowing self can prove accusation you just spouted?

    Not bloody likely.

But assuming for the sake of argument that this is true, it effects you how? Or are you just one of these self-designated "hardcore" types who thinks everyone else should be handicapped just to match your playstyle? Hint: If you don't like /follow, don't use it. That is all.

I have a wife, 2 kids and 2 grandkids. Please fix follow, my in game time is limited and subject to numerous brief interruptions.

    Your vehemence speaks adequately, tyvm.

Why it isn't present, at least for now, should be easily understood. /Follow was in the beta builds. Currently companions follow just fine, except perhaps onto elevators and then only some of them, so we know it isn't a great technical challenge to code.

However there were performance problems as well in beta, and until those are cleared up such unnecessary, high-processor cost mechanics are probably absent from the mix to exclude them from contention as the culprit.

I imagine it will return, unless for some odd reason healbots are being discouraged this year.

  7. Does orange gear have any inherent stats without mods? If it's ugly, isn't it garbage?

If it is medium armor made by synthweaving it will have a minimal str/end bonus and be called 'sentinal' or similar but can be modded for smuggler variants.

I expect this will hold for armorer-sourced orange gear as well.

If you find a set that looks good for you it is invaluable. It is also a boon for those who make mods.

Until modded it still won't say in the tooltip what the actual armor value is, apparently it keys to what level the bound character is.

  8. Oh no it's definitely been a pretty awfully executed launch ...

Not at all: the launch has been smooth as silk as far as I can see. A few people apparently losing connection (judging from their running-in-place) but very few that I have seen.

Haven't been through a launch smoother than this one has been.

Granted, those who ordered a game to be released on Dec 20th but feeling entitled to be in the game early are likely throwing a tantrum, but if you were in and your game experience was as smooth as mine has been you would be a happy camper too.
