Here's a scenerio to think about:
Smuggler Bob wants to go all out light side. Smuggler Bob clicks (through "force" of habit after the first few levels) every light side dialogue option. Smuggler Bob eventually gets the option to purchase really cool "light side" gear in addition to every other gear (excluding dark side).
Smuggler Joe is a truly neutral character. Smuggler Joe takes the time to make decisions based on what he thinks a neutral character may make. Smuggler Joe is neither light or dark and now has less choices then his lightside counterpart.
