  1. So you would rather take the guy with no rated warzone experience at all than the OP who has played over 500 ranked warzones since it means nothing? Aah yes I forgot, ToFN is filled with these keyboard heroes who are gods gift to PvP. It will be interesting to see when these "non-factors" from other servers come to shake things up.
  2. I have to disagree here, the relative amount of wins have to say something about his/her skills. Let's say two guys are arguing which one is the better assassin. They would play ten duels against each other. The other guy wins eight, the other guy wins just two. Just determining from the ratio, one might easily say that the other player got beaten pretty badly. He might use all kind of excuses about gear and so on but the stats don't lie.
  3. Send me an account with fully min/maxed Sentinel and case of kossu and I might harkita asiaa. But seriously speaking, I have lot of respect for Harbinger for being there so long and what I understood from the stream you are sometimes actually having fun when playing together. Unlike some guilds based on what I have seen in the streams and here on the forums. Too bad you rolled on the wrong side.
  4. This is from Empire point of view. Before 2.0 there were not even nearly that much premades in normal warzones as there is now. I think it has to do with the fact that guilds want get geared plus get accustomed to the new class / balance / whatever changes as preparation for ranked. Just hold on until people are fully min/maxed and moved on to ranked. Oh yeah and one more thing: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3u42c5/
  5. I posted this on www.tofntournaments.com as commentary, but here is the copy & paste as well. Some people say that the skill ceiling for the SWTOR PvP is low and only few guilds are running rated warzones. Then there are some who actually enjoy the PvP despite all the minor and major issues and are having blast. I consider myself the latter. I am still having fun in warzones and I hope nothing but the best for Rise of the Hutt Cartel. All the PvP balance changes and new abilities will surely stir things up for a while. Even though BW did not bring specifically anything new for PvP except the bolster changes in 2.0 there is still some new stuff to do and learn. That being said, I wanted to create www.tofntournaments.com to boost the visibility of anything related to PvP in this server. I now pretty sad that the two latest PvP related events have failed. RWZ Champions League had a nice start, few guilds were pretty active playing and everything seemed fine. Then I guess some guilds did not have the necessary setup to do rated warzones or they were not too serious about the tournament from the beginning. Signing up and actually doing it are two different things. The schedule also seemed pretty tight with the 2.0 looming in sight. Last week we were suppose to have the 1v1 tournament but it fell to organizational issues. First evening was mostly cancelled and moved to next day. Then on the second try the organizer did not appear at all being stuck on an airport. Day later he announced that he will take a break from SWTOR and will not be hosting this thing anymore. Understandably, people were bit disappointed, me included. Seems like this tournament is now also cancelled, because nobody does not want to take over specially 2.0 coming in few days. Finally the pleading part. Whether you are an organizer or a tournament participant, please try to keep your promises. Like wise master Yoda said: “Do or do not. There is no try”. Organizers and other people put effort to these kind of things, I remember hearing someone taking a day off from work to make it to the 1v1 tournament. Please also listen to the organizers, whether it is scheduling matches or asked to do certain things. We had for example issues on the 1v1 tournament with lag and it did not help that people were dueling or otherwise messing around. When it comes to team based tournaments, guild masters and/or team captains have a big role also. Do your best to schedule the matches and look after people who are there when needed. My humble wish is just to see the PvP scene in this server and game thrive.
  6. I decided to make a post myself and others about the changes in different spec trees for the Marauder / Sentinel in the upcoming Rise of the Hutt Cartel. I started of with Rage / Focus which is probably the most controversial spec at the moment. And it just happens so that my main is a Marauder so I hope I have some insight on the class. RotHC skill tree changes for Rage Marauder / Focus Sentinel Also opened up a dedicated Twitter account, please follow to keep up with all the new posts and other stuff not worth mentioning on the site. and please follow
  7. Hi again all and thanks for the positive feedback. I will try my best to keep this thing updated much as possible. The first interview is now up, please check it out. Thanks go to Gerikke for his time! http://www.tofntournaments.com/interview-with-gerikke-from-ace/
  8. Care to elaborate? Because I have no idea what you are talking about. The site has nothing to do with Impulse specifically, it is my personal project at the moment.
  9. Hi all! I am Bell'ona from Impulse and you might have bumped into me on warzones sometime. I do mostly PvP nowadays and would like to see more teams to play ranked and generally get more coverage to the servers PvP scene. I think Nutpens RWZ league is a good example of an good effort. So I decided to create a website, that would gather all the stuff related to ToFN PvP tournaments in one place. Including standings, schedules, results, teams and so on. My purpose is to gather links to streams and other content much as possible, here is an example. I was hoping that I would have time to do interviews with GM's and other stuff later. So please check it out and write some comments or wishes about contents or functionalities. Currently I am covering Nutpens RWZ Champions League and I hope there will be lot of other smaller and bigger tournaments in the future. http://www.tofntournaments.com
  10. I would love to play with you guys but you chose the wrong faction. PS. Ylläpitäkää Suomen mainetta humalahakuisessa juomistyylissä!
  11. Hi! Before I start, just want to let you know that I have been a playing SWTOR since the beta. I have over 100 days of played on my main so you can pretty much guess that I love the game. Nowadays I mostly just PvP and lurk the relevant forums pretty much every day. After they announced that Joveth was also leaving, I was thinking about the absence of CM's in specially in the PvP forums. You can see a comment now and them, but it is pretty rare. I admit, some of threads are not worth any ones time, but still. So basically I programmed a scraper, that calculated the amount of threads and the amount of post that BW official have posted here in the PvP forums. Here are the results as totals and relative percentages from all threads at that time (27.02.2013): Amount of threads having staff posts: 55 / 0.134% Amount of posts by BW staff: 98 / 0.013% I will just leave it here. Please note that I only calculated threads that have the staff post icon in front of them, lot of the older ones do not have those.
  12. They had people having orbs right by the pylon soon as they capped it. This might happen quite easily if they managed to kill everyone on mid before the surge thingie.
  13. People are more and more often rage quitting warzones or soon as they see a smallest sign that their team might be losing. This is because there is absolutely no punishment for this kind of behavior, which pretty much ruins the warzone for rest of the people. Lot of people also drop straight away if they get middle of a ongoing warzone, making the backfill take ages before somebody actually stays. Some counter arguments I have already seen were in the style "my baby started crying and had to go check up him/her" or "my roommate came to ask me for something" or "I do not care, I play casually" or "my internet connection is bad and I get disconnected from time to time". For me it sounds ridiculous. I really do not care about the reason why you dropped warzone, you are still ruining the game for the seven other people in the ops group. So can please anybody give a proper reason why BW should not implement this?
  14. Good point, but I can just parse what was available in the combat logs. I do not have any information about the characters resolve there, so I can only calculate the time difference between the start and end of an CC ability. But since the percentage of times has gone up in average, I would assume that the overlap mechanics checks if an existing CC of the same kind is already applied. If yes, it does not apply at all or possibly shortens the duration. I might have to try to test this scenario, throwing multiple CC's at once and see how the overlapping ends up in the combat logs. For melee characters slows and root are quite a hinder. Imagine slowed or rooted with only few ranged attacks. I play a marauder myself, so basically Force Scream is the only good option. And it is crap on all other specs than carnage. I have already noticed a big difference in 1.4 when playing Annihilation. Because of all the stuns now, it is pretty much squishy as the other specs. If you are stun locked and there are two or three dpsing you, nothing you can do about it. I am already fully min/maxed marauder with the new Elite WH weapons, so I do not have much of an incentive to play PvP at the moment. And the 1.4 has been out, what ten days? Please cut me some slack
  15. The forum has been filled with QQ about the resolve change in 1.4 and how the game has become a stun fest. I agree in that somewhat, so I decided to check how much the CC has changed after the changes the way resolve is built in 1.4. So I spend a day creating a parser, which checks the duration of all crowd control effects, separated by slows, stuns and roots. The sample size is still quite small for 1.4, only 46 matches. I compared those to 96 warzones I played just before 1.4 was released. Here is the summary of the results: >1.4 Stunned 5,29% Slowed 14,54% Rooted 2,55% Total CC 22,38% <1.4 Stunned 2,91% Slowed 10,96% Rooted 3,03% Total CC 16,90% Percentage is calculated how much do you spend time under the certain CC effect related to the WZ duration. So basically it confirms that you spend quite a lot of time under some kind of CC. As a melee character, stuns and roots are quite an annoyance. The game had quite a lot of CC even before 1.4 and now the overlap mechanism is just helping the non-organized CC spam. Huttball is great example, you have no chance of getting over firepits if you have 0 resolve even with stun breakers on CD. Naturally the solution is to pass the ball more, but with normal wzs coordination is pretty difficult. If you are interested, you can find the stats I used to calculate the percentages from the Google spreadsheet below. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvbiyyXbgaiQdGVaa3k5VldWZVpIaG5EcjdVZDNUWEE
  16. I will save you from the effort, you cannot put the gloves Armoring to your Exalted Belt.
  17. I play an annihilation marauder (Valor 90, 5 WH pieces) and most of the time I play a role where I focus on healers almost 100% of the time. Healing debuff and short CD on interrupts are the main reasons. This of course means staying away most of the time from the doors in Voidstar and the bunker on Novare Coast. Same thing in huttball, I usually hold mid and on some rare occasion I have to move to the platforms. The problem is while I think I am being very beneficial to the team I get punished quite a lot for the attacker/defender points. Of course by chasing healers I slash out tons of damage but in the scoreboard my contribution looks pretty bad. You can pretty much see it from the MVP votes that people think you were worthless and only chasing kills for the whole round. I actually have no suggestions about what do about it, since the current medal system is nicely objective based but there are still some blind spots. Any suggestions?
