  1. Just because you can't find a group on not-named server doesn't mean I can't find a group on not-named server.

    Server: Proginator

Oh i can find groups it just takes forever. I think because no one really likes to wait on that boring station forever and join a WZ. But sadly if they are in a WZ they will not respond to LFG calls on the station, which sadly is the #1 place to find groups :(

  2. Help me please.

All i wanted for the last 3 years since i heard of SWTOR is to play it. But i am a PvPer.

PvP does not satisfy me in this game.

The only real goal in PvP is to get your battlemaster gear. There is nothing else.

So its all about smashing your heads for the quests and for fun. Thats what i did 15 years ago already in Ultima Online.

I thought with that big budget they have and already a lot of games that had a better and bigger PvP content they would come up with something more original.

But all i can do is do my quests, get useless centurion commendations mostly, maybe a champion piece once, and thats it. Grind my way up to valor 60 and rinse and repeat the process for battlemaster gear.

On Ilum people only stick together as long as the quest is not finished.

    Something is seriously wrong here.

  3. Hello guys

Here is an idea which might not be new in the genre but i think it would fit best. In short its all about attacking, owning, managing, upgrading and defending bases.

First here are necessary features needed for the system before we can start.

    1) Add a guild PvP inventory. Members can donate mercenary and other PvP commendations.

    2) Add a guild vendor which sells an item called something like base command certification. This item needs a lot of pvp commendations to be bought, thats why we need the guild inventory so members can put together their commendations.

    3) Make a new area on any planet which both factions have access to. For example Tatooine would work good because its easy to make new environment -> just sand :)

    4) Add 3 camps in this new area. One is republic the other imperial and the 3rd one is abandoned.

Now each of these camps has an object lets call it base command terminal, which can be used when the player owns a base command certification. Now the guild starts the claim process. Next thing happen is a timer starts counting down from lets say 1 hour. If the camp can be defended for that time the guild has successfully claimed the camp and it will be invulnerable.

Also there is shuttles arriving once the claim process started, which will spawn crates. Crafters can get items from those crates to make items which will help speed up the claim process.

Sadly i have no idea what we can be done if another friendly guild also wants to claim the camp at the same time.... Maybe someone has suggestions here.

Anyway, the enemy faction can try to stop the claim process by simply slicing the base command terminal which takes about 15 seconds.

After a base is successfully claimed it can be upgraded.

The following upgrades could be available:

    1) Walls can be build to help defend. Defenders can shoot from the walls.

    2) Gates can be build to slow down attackers entering the base.

    3) Turrets can be build to help defend a base.

    4) Barracks can be build which will spawn NPC soldiers.

    5) Uplinks can be build to order air strikes.

The base usually is invulnerable and if an enemy faction guild wants to attack it, they have to start a challenge. There could be a quest NPC outside the base behind a little hill or something -> scouts. An assault can be initiated by that NPC. Now the defender can choose a day/time from that moment up to 2 days in the future. Timeframe should be tuned for server timezones of course. EU server for example could be somewhere around 17pm to 21pm.

Attackers win if they can manage to destroy base objects in time. Depending on the size and upgrades of the base there is multiple objectives.

To help attackers on a high upgraded base they can order walkers and also air strikes by using PvP commendations.

Also a claimed base will need PvP commendations each day running, or at least credits. The bigger the upgrades the more expensive it needs to be.

If a guild decides it dont want to keep the base anymore it can pass ownership to another friendly guild.

What will you get for owning a base?

Just for fame and prestige but there could also be reward NPCS. Members and friends of the guild owning could have access to exclusive gear.

If this works every content update BW could add a new area to other planets.

  4. I'm a level 30 Sage.

Out questing on Alderaan, a 32 Juggernaut attacks me. I do everything I know how to keep my distance and toss DOTs and stop briefly to TK force. I interrupt, I stun, I throw projectiles.

Nothing works. He just keeps coming. He knocks me down, attacks, eventually, I die.

Is it even possible for a Sage to win against a warrior class? Or is juggernaut the counter to a sage?

Cause I am not that bad. But he has heavy armor and I just couldn't get his health down.

    It's frustrating.

Maybe kill his healer companion first? After that there should be no problem killing him.

  5. Hey guys.

I know there are more pressing issues at hand with the game being new and all, however I do have a tiny question.

Does anyone know if Bioware is planning on including a tool to change your characters styling?

I only ask because I'm sick of my characters face and want to change it to match the feel I got from playing him by developing his story line.

    Thanks!

You ask for a feature they never had in any of their RPGs except DA2 and you had to pay for it :)

  6. Each server is divided in instances of the same place. So there might be 10 Fleets and the instance you are in ther is lets say 10, but on another there is 50 and so on. I dont know if the chat is shared but I belive it should be.

I should also say that im not sure that this is the case but it seems like it after some strange messages at the start of the game.

Top left you see a counter at that is for all instances. If there is 200 there is not more hidden somewhere. Thats 200 split on the existing instances.

  7. You realize that SWTOR is likely going to be the LAST P2P MMO, right? F2P is not a sign of failure. It's a good business model.

Admit it. You think P2P = success because WoW does it... that's the only reason.

There was a lot of discussion on make SWTOR F2P from the start, but the devs decided that having 8 unique storylines in 1 game justified doing a P2P subscription, at least to start with.

Look at GW2... F2P. Look at all the new Asian MMOs... F2P. Blizzard's new MMO... rumored to be F2P. This should really tell you something.

We are talking about Star Wars here!!!

This is not some asian big b00bs hot chicks mmo grinder. It is Star Wars!!!!

If the game goes F2P it means: turnover < expenditure

And the only way to try save it is the F2P model. Have all the people who dont wanna pay to play come in and try get the old customers back. Next you rip off by putting items in a cash shop which "are not needed" but actually are if you dont want the guy next door laugh about your crappy gear.

  8. It SHOULD but will it? Bioware? The people who extort others with dlc? The people who release a whole new character for ME2 mere months after release?

The reason why P2P games go F2P is because the player base is too small and it makes the game look unattractive for possible new gamers and also is a chance to get back old customers. Also it is the last chance and try change the item system to cash shop and rip off enough money with items which should be for free.

  9. Lets make it short.

I did not play any other MMO for 3 years since i saw the first SWTOR trailers. I started playing MMOs with Ultima Online. I never played WoW. So leave your "WoW fanboi" statements elsewhere.

Star Wars and Star Trek franchise are really big and have a huge fan base.

Star Trek Online sold a million or so times the first month. Thats what they claimed. The game was poor of course. This game is better but it brings nothing new to the genre.

Many will leave this game after the first excitement of the voice acted storyline is over, and they will realize -> thats it. There is not much more.

There is nothing new about raids. There is nothing new about PvP.

Both are small, buggy and offer no long time motivation simply because you get all the gear handed to you in no time.

Die hard Star Wars fans will stay like die hard Star Trek fans with STO.

STO is going F2P in a few days.

SWTOR will go F2P sooner or later which on common tongue means it failed.

I play this game. I will stay. I am a Star Wars fan. This is no hate thread. I am just sad they did not try to bring fresh wind into the genre.

  10. I am a coder and i would have actually made it like that it always checks if it can fill a match with 50s only. At some point a guy could click a button on an internal website which would enable 50 only matches. Easy thing. Would take me none less than an hour to code.
