  1. As someone already stated just unclick the the aoe KV does. If you do thatthen he won't attack a mob that is cc'd. he waits until you attack it first. Even if that is the last mob standing.
  2. The minefield missions are at least 8 minutes long if not more. I am able to use the EMP device twice during the minefield mission. The cooldown on the emp is at least 4 minutes. I try to take out as many mines I can with the EMP as soon as I can so it will be up near the end of the mission. With that first strike I usually end up getting 96 mines. I can probably get more if I waited a tad bit longer into the minefield. By the time the EMP is up for the second time during the mission, I have already met my quota for the mines and can use it on the attack of the final ship where there are the last of my heavy fighters. The emp doesn't always destroy the hangar bays. Also in the minefield mission, I only worry about the mines, the heavy fighters, the bonus ship, the minelayer engines and the final ship. The small fighters are actually insignificant if you are lvl 50. I usually cruise through the minefield and asteroids with my shields on and barely firing until I need to. The final approach through the last minefield you can attack the final ship. I blast through the mines then load the ship on missiles. By the time I get to that ship I usually only have one yellow circle left and blow that up as I go by. It can get a little hectic after you pass the final ship as you have a good deal of fighters firing at you including the non destroyable turrets from the final ship. I just use my jammer (up for 10 long seconds) until I am through while looking for that final heavy fighter to kill. Then put up my shields and head home repeatedly pressing the spacebar all the while. BTW if I feel like killing a ship or two during the trek through the asteroids, I do.
  3. If you do any of the escort quests, the main focus is on the fighters going in the same direction you are. Why? because those little suckers will stay on the other ship until you kill them. Plus they are mean and spiteful so kill them as soon as you can. The ones coming towards you are pretty much done shooting at the shuttle when they fly past it and you. The bonus is to kill the fighters. The goal is to escort the shuttle to safety. This is one mission where you need to complete and go beyond the bonus to escort the shuttle to safety. The ship turrets are kind of like distractions. If you want look for the red circles. Those are the turrets and can usually be killed with one to two missiles. The yellow circles are usually something else like shields. Also look at your level for the missions as you level up. You will get 4 level higher missions. These are doable at the level but extrememly tough if you are 42 andf the mission is 46. Suggestion just wait until you are within two levels to attempt a mission. You need to complete all the missions to get the daily comms operation - ascendacy barrier. Always upgrade your ship and know what upgrades you can do at what level. Once you get to 50 spend the cash from doing dailies and buy the purple upgrades. Or if you can make them yourself. Another thing to note here to complete a mission you do not have to complete the bonus missions. You just have to complete the objective and remain alive when the timer runs out. This might mean shooting no fighters and flying with just your shield on until the timer runs out. There is no shame in doing this because once you complete the original mission you get a great boost of experience and about 13K in credits. In addition, every two single missions unlocks an Operation which also yeilds experience and credits. If you do not want to pay for purple gear you can always rely on the RNG system with the boxes. The purple box costs 375 fleet comms. Besides ship gear you can also get orange armor and weapons. I save up my comms and get two boxes at a time. You can't get three because the comm cap is set to 1K. Hope that helps.
  4. If that doesn't work out for you, try to google sith warrior and you might come up with a web page devoted to that very class by just adding a dot com at the end of those two words put together. Search engines are your friends learn how to use them.
  5. O'rly? Like in all games sometimes they come out that is better than what they had before. And as such that might be less expensive than it was before. ((Some call this a nerf.) As it stands now, Centurion gear still has to be ground out. The only way to get cent comms is to get the champion bags. You can't open one before you're level 50 and if you do buy one before 50, you can only have 1. You cannot buy your centurion comms without buying the champion bags. The Champion gear takes over 85K warzone comms to buy if you go the comm route (be aware you can get bags that will take this number down). The Battlemaster gear takes over 86K warzone comms (this includes the 3:1 ratio for mercs and again bags are not included in this number) for a complete set. In order to buy Champ comms you have to be lvl 50 and valor rank 50. To buy BM comms you have to be lvl 50 and valor rank 60. Have to ask you how is that not grinding out gear? All BW did was take out the RNG aspect of the gear if you have been unlucky in love. You still have to do the valor rank grind which was not changed other than an increase in valor. I know people go 10, 20 or more bags without a single piece of BM gear. While some have recieved their gear in the same amount of time those were trying to get a single piece. To be honest, it is more fair to everyone that some degree of RNG removed from the gearing up. If you ground out the bags and got yours the RNG method you should be grateful and proud of your accomplishment. If you have alts be thankful you don't have to do the RNG way for each and everyone of them. However if you wish you can still grind out your bags and go the RNG route. Nothing says you have to buy the BM comms or Champ comms. Point being that it may be a little easier to get the gear, but no fresh 50 is going to be able to walk out with champ or especially battlemaster gear the day they hit 50. You might be able to hit valor rank 50 on the day you hit fifty and be able to get 6 champion bags but that has always been the case because of caps put on comms. To say someone who just hit 50 today is going to be able to buy all of their pvp gear <insert name of gear here> is completely assanine and crying over spilt milk. Its pointless to do otherwise. You still have to earn your warzone comms thus you still have to grind out your gear. Just because you percieve something is less expensive does not always make it so. I bet you buy bigger quantities of food because you think you are getting a better deal on bulk items when in fact the smaller quantity containers actually cost less. So you might want to do your math again.
  6. FWIW Indiana as previously mentioned being one of those states that did not adhere to DST finally capitulated recently. They now are part of CST and EST. For geographical reference Indianapolis is EST and Gary, IN (the NW part of the state near Chicago) is on CST. There has been a cry to make Indiana go all CST because of our late daylight in the summer. The sun is still out almost around 10PM in some areas during the summer. Just one more point, living in Ohio on the border of Indiana when they did not observe DST really messed a lot of people up because for half the year they were an houor behind and for the rest of the year they had the same time as Ohio. This messed people up near Chicago because people commute from NW Indiana to Chicago. If you worked across the border you had to adjust accordingly. It was abig mess to all those around when it came to getting to work at the correct time or doing any kind of business across the border. This was the rationale why Indiana finally adhered to DST. Not sure if any big cities stradlke the border of Arizona and neighboring states like Indiana. (You have Chicago, Louisville, Cincinatti on the borders of Indiana. Just to name a few. Detroit is close but not stradling the border) But once again the dailies did not reset this morning at their appropriate time thus I did not get mine done when I wanted to and will have to wait until later to do them.
  7. And its March 12, 2012. The Christmas rush has gone and so has the 560 TI from the store shelves. You might be able to still find them online. However, going to places like Fry's, or Best Buy they cannot be located. Like I said earlier the 560 TI's were created for the Christmas rush. In a year they will probably stop being supported. BTW This information was found on reputable websites like Tom's Hardware who advised anyone who was going to buy the 560 TI to just get the 570 because of the history with the 560 TI (not really a 560 but people really don't know that). Alas, we get what we pay for.
  8. According to a previous post, Dailies reset at 6AM CST. I play in EST. Saturdaynight we sprung forward with our clocks an hour to compensate for daylight savings time. The problem is that starting Sunday morning on 3/11/2012, dailies did not reset at 7AM EST. They reset at 8AM EST/7AM CST. So this is usually a bug where on the servers the time was not adjusted. The time is shown right on my computer and on the in game clock but the dailies are still getting reset at the correct time. Toi some this maybe a minor or no inconvenience at all but to another person this could be a major inconvenience. I have to wait around an hour longer for dailies to reset when I could have been through them already.
  9. Umm my opening moves go something like: From stealth, I have already Mind Trapped one mob (usually the strongest) and move to the weakest in a PVE environment. 1. Spike 2. Maul 3. Shock - this stuns a weak target for 4 seconds in order to get behind them 4. Maul, if available else Saber Strike - because more than likely the NPC has gotten back up at this point and is attacking me before Val has a chance to Taunt him off or I have sent Val to the Strong/Elite target 5. discharge 6. normal rotation On a weak npc, the NPC is either less than half health or dead by the time I get to normal rotation. While discharge is on cd I am stacking charges for the next discharge followed by shock rotation.
  10. Well lets see: Maul can only be used behind the back of the mob. Thrash (and later Voltaic Slash - 31 pt in Deception Tree) can be used any where you are standing when fighting a mob. Great to use when Val goes down and you need an extra little bit of DPS facing the mob and you have electrocute on CD. In pvp situations you aren't always behind an opposing player so thrash/VS comes in handy. In Force limited fights, its much better to go with Saber Strike than either Maul or Thrash/VS. Getting 1.5K hits with Maul in the WZ's is more than likely a crit hit at yoour level. Its good to have the 1.5K hits, but if you don't crit its more than likely that number is less than 1.5k hit, probably about 1.5 times less. Crits are approximately 1.5 times the base damage, generally speaking. Around lvl 32 or so I started getting hits of over 2.5K with maul. Thats because I use my use relics rather than have them sit there and look pretty. Your rotation should always have VS or Thrash its the last priority item. Maul is preferred before Slash or Thrash, several times. And Saber Strike should be your first priority. This isn't referring to your opening moves.
  11. "Okay I am level <insert level here>. Where do I put my skill point?" When you are maxed out on levels, this question becomes obsolete because you can put your full points into the thread without worrying about where the next skill point will go. When you level you get 1 point per level starting at level 10 for a grand total of 41 total skill points. You may combine them into the three trees however you wish. Again Play to your playstyle this is a guide for starting out but not set in stone. So when leveling using the changed build listed in the original thread, I suggest putting points in this order: Format (level - Tree - skill - points/maximum number of points) Note: Once I hit level 23, the primary focus is on the Deception tree. 10 Deception - Duplicity 1/3 11 Deception - Dark Embrace 1/2 12 Deception - Duplicity 2/3 13 Deception - Duplicity 3/3 14 Deception - Dark Embrace 2/2 15 Darkness - Charge Mastery 1/3 16 Madness - Exploitive Strikes 1/3 17 Darkness - Charge Mastery 2/3 18 Madness - Exploitive Strikes 2/3 19 Darkness - Charge Mastery 3/3 20 Madness - Exploitive Strikes 3/3 21 - 22 Darkness - Thrashing Blades 2/2 23 Recirculation - 1/2 24-26 Obfuscation 3/3 27 Recirculation 2/2 28-29 Induction 2/2 30 Surging Charge 1/1 31 Darkswell 1/1 32 Avoidance 1/2 33 Saber Conduit 1/3 34 Entropic Field 1/2 35 - 36 Saber Conduit 3/3 37 Static Cling 1/2 38 - 39 Static Charges 2/2 40 Low Slash 1/1 41 Deceptive Powers 1/1 42 Static Cling 2/2 43 - 47 Crackling Blasts 5/5 48 Voltaic Slash 1/1 49 Entropic Field 2/2 50 Fade 1/2 (You can actually put this point where you want. I chose fade.)
  12. MACROS This is a controversial subject. I like them and I despise them. However, Bioware has taken the stance that there are no macros in the game at the time of this posting. This does not mean I cannot create macros on a keyboard or mouse that supports them. I use a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Edition keyboard. I also use a Naga Mouse (first edition). Both of these devices allow me to create macros based on keystrokes. With that being said, I bind my use relics to different abilities. Meaning I create a macro for a use relic and an ability. Create macros however you want. The good ones we can list here. Please note I am not up for a debate on whether you prefer to have macros or whether you think they are satan's creations. Please keep that debate for another thread. KEYBINDINGS At this time, Bioware has allotted us 4 action bars for our character and 1 action bar for our companion. You can change your keybindings on any of these five action bars. You are able to use modifiers to augment your keybindings. (For example CTRL +1 or SHIFT+ALT+1). Just a reminder, for those who like to use the NUMPAD, you can use both CTRL and ALT as a modifier but you cannot use SHIFT as a modifier with the NUMPAD. Your cpanion bar will already come with a modifier - CTRL + the 123 buttons.
  13. First off let me state this guide was on the beta forums as a much larger compilation for the Sith Inquisitor. The original build is not mine and I cannot remember who created it but give credos to them. I changed it a little bit and I will mention where I changed it. Second, I will state that you should play to your playstyle. This build may not be for you because of this or that but foremost play and build your character the way you prefer. This is meant only as a starting guide. This build is not set in stone and as always a work in progress. Okay to the guide. Background: As of this writing, I am level 39 and have been using this build plus rotation from level 1. I will continue to level using this build (the changed build) as I am on a strong PvP world. Personally this is my first character I have ever leveled up on a purely PvP server in all the MMO's I have played. However, that is to say I am not a noob at PvP. I am not the best but I am not the worst. I was always told there is always someone better than you. Just try to reach that next rung of the ladder and do better. BUILD: Original Build: 5 darkness / 33 deception / 3 Madness http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200McZhGrRkhrbtzZc.1 I changed the build to incorporate more dmg reduction for CC dmg. That build is: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200McZhGRRkGdbtzZc.1 You may discuss the differences. This has shown to be a decent build. With Sorcs doing AOE dmg, you almost need the 30% AOE dmg reduction. The third post in this thread will show you which skill to take at what level, if you are leveling up a PvP DPS Assassin. Something the original guide did not post. The original guide did not have an opening (coming out of stealth) move because really there isn't one. However, I will stress you should always begin your attacks from stealth because of the Force Regeneration rate is increased for a period of time when you come out of stealth. Stealth is actually useful not just because it looks cool. I go into stealth then go behind the mob. From there depending on one or two factors, I will either use Shock then Maul or Maul. If its an NPC mob with less than STRONG use SHOCK then MAUL. This stuns the mob for about 3 to 4 seconds. If you can't stun them, just use MAUL and shock them in the normal rotaion. Your Priority list as follows: 1. Saber Strike - this is a non force using ability. When you use it, it does not subtract from your force pool. 2. Assassinate - This is a finisher if you will. Its a 6 second cooldown and does up to 1K damage. Use several times once the mob is under 30% health. 3. Maul - Use it when exploit weakness Buff is about to expire and behind target 4. Lacerate - The original guide stated to use whenever there is 3 or more enemies up to 5. I use it for any more than 1 enemy. 5. Discharge - use it every cooldown. period! 6. Shock - use every cooldown 7. Maul - use when behind the enemy and Exploit Weakness just proc'd 8. Voltaic Slash or Thrash - use the first when you finally put a point in that in the deception tree. Gearing Primary Stats: Willpower Endurance Secondary Stats: Critical Rating > Single Most important stat after Willpower (although I will counter endurance can be a close second). Surge rating > This stat is being coupled with Crit in higher lvl gear. However it should be a stat that is stacked once you cap out Critical Rating. Surge helps with crit. Expertise Rating > PvP Important Stat Accuracy > You need at least 10% to bring your accuracy up to 100% to counter defense stats of the enemy player. Anything over 100% is good to have as it reduces further the defense stats like counter parry and defense. Another PvP important stat. PvP Endgame Crewskills: The original guide suggested that these benefitted a Sith Assassin. This is not a crewskills guide. Choose whatever you want. 1. Biochem/Bioanalysis/Diplomacy or 2. Cybertech/Scavenging/Underworld Trading Again note here this is just a suggestion. Not set in stone. Play the way you want. Money Making Skills: Slicing (not sure after nerf on 12/27/2011), Investigation, Diplomacy, Bioanalysis, Scavenging. Not part of the original guide: You get three charges/stances. 1. Dark Charge 2. Lightning Charge 3. Surging Charge When I first started off, I thought I should be using Lightning Charge. This was wrong. Use Dark Charge until you get Surging Charge. Then use Surging Charge. With that said, each charge does have its usefulness. I use Dark Charge when I need to fill in for a tank that has dropped or I DPS/Tank a Flashpoint (FP). With a good healer this can be done as the DPS abilities tend to have high aggro gen. Use Mind Control/Mass Mind Control in a pinch as this is your Taunt button. Dark Charge makes discharge an AOE ability hitting up to five enemies for damage. Lightning charge is decent if you are in a long PvE boss fight and the dot can be used to its full effectiveness - 21 seconds. Other than that you should really never be in this stance. Surging Charge. Once you get this stance click it and forget it! You can change charges during combat. Or if you are familiar with the term "stance dancing". The only drawback is when you change to another charge it costs 50 points from your force pool. With most of Assassins only having 100 points in their pools, this is half of that. So use it wisely. Companions: As a SIN (assassin) your first companion is Khem Val. My suggestion is to keep him updated in heavy armor tank gear. As well as as keep his weapon up to date. You will need him in several of the class quests. I know of one class quest where you can only take Khem Val as your companion. Another class quest you have to have the DPS companion to talk to the guy. You ca actually use Kem Val to kill the guy then switch to the DPS guy after the guy has submitted. You will get several others including a Padawan. The Padawan you cannot turn to the Darkside as much as you try it just can't be done. This is a drawback to the SI as other classes can turn their padawans/jedis. Use Khem Val as your primary companion. Send all others on missions. That is until you get your healer companion. People I have talked to (I have yet to play with the healing companion) say that they prefer the healer companion over Khem Val in later levels. I can understand their points. I reserve the right to change this guide.
  14. Umm whomever told you the 450 = 560... is wrong. The 560 Ti is the 470 revamped for Christmas because they did not want to destroy the 470. 450 is not high end neither is the 560Ti. Try mid range on the low end side as the high end card is the GTX 590. Then you have the 580, 570 and then the 560. 560TI in between 560 and 570. I wouldn't bother getting a 560TI because in a year the support for it will be obsolete in favor of the 570.
