  1. BW already decided to kill Ilum in 1.2 by having Warzone efforts count towards your daily and weekly quests anyway, lol.

So yeah, what the guy about me said. Feel free to add FFA Warzones too, that could be fun. At least for future players, I'm going back to Aion now that it's gone F2P as soon as Gameforge get their act together. Until GW2 is out, that is.

I logged in today for the first time in days and couldn't get myself to finish the Warzone, that's how bored I am with SWTOR. It took less than two weeks without rushing to hit endgame. Most of my friends have already moved on. And while BW had the chance to improve things and say, bring other crew skills up to par with Biochem or certain classes up to other classes and make things fun, they decided to just half-arse it and nerf the s*** out of everything instead. Not wise.

Fact: Players don't like it when you nerf the s*** out of everything. And I'm not QQing, my Sentinel is OP, even without Biochem.

  2. You got it all wrong, the trinity is still there. It's just not that set in stone, as with most MMOs. There are still tanks that tank better than others and DPS that DPS better than others and healers that heal better than others. And since perfect class balance is impossible to achieve one will never get entirely rid of the trinity anyway.

Personally I like the fact that players will have to take responsibility for their actions and cooperate to win. Players will all have to take turns at tanking and healing to achieve victory, at least to begin with. Which is a nice change from the current design of players repeating the same class pattern and mechanics over and over.

  3. Lots of MMOs are like this dude. WoW was. >.>

Not major AAA MMOs, not so soon after release. Please get that through your head. An hour later and 4 servers aside we're still looking at Light and Standard server populations. During primetime.

    Light

Standard <-- Current server population state of SWTOR two months after release

    --

    Heavy

    Very Heavy

    Full

    Not very promising, is it?

  4. I want fun, repeatable content. Something to aim for. Guild functions other than acting as a secondary friend list. Player customization.

Some may say I demand a lot but those are all basic things that most MMOs feature at launch.

In less than two weeks and without rushing I went from being a total noob to

saving the entire galaxy with both Darth Malgus and the Emperor defeated

Sure, BW will introduce more chapters but they will be brand new. I have nothing to aim for or achieve. Guilds have no function in this game, so much for the MMO in MMORPG. And the player customizaation is severely lacking.

I still can't believe SWTOR launched with the current features. Or lack of. I would go back to Aion in a heartbeat now that it's F2P if it wasn't for the fact that Gameforge are even more useless than NCsoft. Perhaps in a couple of days when they get their s*** together.

  5. The implementation is new. DDO doesn't have companions, it has mercenaries. As does EQ and EQ 2. In no other game on the MMO market, does a pet or mercenary play an integral part of your character's story. In no other MMO do pets or meercenaries give you quests. In no other MMO do pets or mercenaries craft for you.

No other MMO has made story it's primary element and implemented cutscenes to the degree that SWTOR has.

You can dislike these things and their impact may not be great, but the implementation is - by definition - an innovation.

If these things aren't innovations, what do you consider an innovation? Something that anybody can't do exactly what you're doing with these features. They may not be great innovations (that's subjective), but they are innovations.

I dunno. There are several MMOs out there with companions. They may or may not affect your storyline directly or craft for you but that's about it. I played a MMO once that had companions that gave you both quests and loot(!) but can't remember its name.

ARGO Online alone had companions that acted as tanks or DPS companions or even healing companions. You could choose which one to use. You had to level them up (own level bar), micromanage them and even buy skills to them. Or you could program them using (what I think was) 3 hotbars worth of macros.

They also evolved while leveling them, and went from tiny cute pets or creatures to savage beasts.

I'm pretty sure ARGO Online is far from being the only MMO together with SWTOR to have pets/companions whatever to interact with you and pull stuff that benefits you - the player.

Yes, SWTOR gave us some innovation when it comes to cutscenes and companions but at the same time is lacking tons where it really matters.

  6. .... On a Wednesday. GG dude, GG.

Your point being? A MMO as new as SWTOR should have heavy server populations be it weekdays or weekend. Since when is primetime considered weekends only?

Heck, there are tiny F2P MMOs out there with a total population of 1000 players that have more population activity during the night than most SWTOR servers....

But fair enough, feel free to check the server population during next weekend, I did last weekend, servers were far from full...

  7. I think they've up'd the bar on storyline. It's possible to be critical of the game while still acknowledging a redeeming quality.

Nah, voice acting is one thing but the actual quests are all meh. The only decent moment in the Jedi storyline was when

Kira got possessed. Heck, in less than two weeks and without rushing one goes from being a total noob to the savior of the entire galaxy, with both Darth Malgus and the Emperor defeated, left with nothing else to achieve or be desired. You're already the savior of the galaxy, GG!

Sure, more content will follow but it will be brand new chapters. If you ask me I don't think BW know how to do storylines at all.

  8. So asking guilds and guild leaders their opinions is a bad thing?

Not really, but I guess one can argue whether or not the cost of the summit should be poured into development instead. Or patches that don't require emergency downtime. Or decent art design. Anything but duplicates of orange gear. Different dungeons instead of the one that is repeated 30 times (at least) throughout the leveling process (it gave me FF XIV vibes). Stuff like that.

  9. rolfstopming opinions all over the place.

you outright lie point blank in the first part and continue posting non-sense (and unfounded) accusations in the rest.

way to post a huge post with zero substance nor real points.

so... is it that people are trolling over the lack of different armor styles, or the color, or both... and it is awesome that you can dismiss the social gear as 'useless' when it CAN still be obtained.

wise up and come up with a better argument.

Butt hurt much? Thanks for such wonderful feedback. You failed to address anything but orange gear and yes, while it CAN still be obtained, it CANNOT as intended by the devs, unless the devs intended for players to go back to the first Flashpoint and repeat it over and over, in normal mode, to gain social points.

Are you saying most major MMOs don't feature remodeling tools? Feel free to list them.

Are you saying most Republic orange gear in this game isn't made up either by the color white and/or different shades of brown, that they don't come in duplicates - and that there is amazing looking gear out there the rest of us don't know about? Feel free to list them.

Are you saying there are no cool looking green gear in this game? Nor all black Republic outfits? Wrong again.

C'mon, prove your original statement true then.

  10. Actually, the best thing BW could do is to make it a FFA Warzone. Now, that would be fun - as long as one is given the option to freely choose which Warzone to queue for.

And while I would welcome some gathering nodes on the battlefield just to mess things up, you clearly missed the various chests already there with... surprise, commendations.

  11. I wonder if this is your first MMO? Or you're just pointing out the obvious.

Most games at launch have a pre-set higher tier of gear that people shoot for... and as the game ages, more sets are added and the gear look becomes more varied as people have multiple sets and items to choose from.

Heck, people have the option already to wear social gear and orange items... so the fact they all sit in the same gear at fleet, or elsewhere, says a bit about the people who play.

Anyway, they already are looking at the modding stuff, and the dyes to make it look slightly different.... and you only have to wait till more stuff is added in the near future.

I wonder if this is your first MMO? Or you're just pointing out the obvious.

Most major MMOs all feature basic remodeling and color dye tools at launch, rendering your point moot. Heck, there are actually several decent looking green outfits in this game, all black Republic outfits included, imagine if you could remodel your PvP gear into it.

You obviously play some Empire toon only or you would otherwise know that most Republic orange gear all consist of filthy rags that look like something Goodwill thew away - and they're all made up of the color white and/or different shades of shi... I mean brown. There are NOT multiple sets and items to choose from, not many that vary in appearance anyway.

Social gear itself is useless, most players at endgame can't go through the different social tiers due to a known bug that (still) hasn't been addressed. Players' only option is to run normal mode Esseles/Black Talon over and over again - and we all wanna do that, right? Makes aiming for that Galactic Party Bomb so much fun...
