  1. As opposed to the trooper who

Tracks down defectors across the same planets

    Or the bounty hunter who

Tracks down random bounties across 5 planets

And lets not forget the smuggler who

    Plays FedEX across 5 planets

Noticing a trend here. Almost everyone's Chapter 1 follows the same formula. It's not so much what you're doing but the story behind the why and the interactions with the environment during that make the story either groovy or not. I agree the Consular story is a little lacking in chapter 1, but i still prefer it over the Bounty Hunter and Smuggler.

The issue is the Consular does the same thing on every planet in Act 1. Find Jedi Master - tell Him/Her they are sick and need help - They so no thanks - You fight and kill/heal them.

At least in those other class arcs you mentioned (Have not played the Trooper all the way through yet, but the others I have) there is some variety in how the story plays out. Doesn't feel that way for the Consular.

  2. Lovely, more cryptic words and phrases. Does EAware take customer service classes from the CIA?

Since this is based in the KOTOR timeline I'm just going to pretend I read this...

*We are taking space missions off rails and will be adding new PvP and FP/Ops missions based on fleet battles and planetary attack/defense objectives. We are also excited to announce the legacy system will now allow you the option of recoloring/reshaping the outside and inside of your starship as well as naming it. Making it truely unique and yours.

*8 new swoop racing tracks will be available on so and so planets. Visit your local swoop race promoter on the fleet, practice your technique and timing and when you are ready compete against friends and rivals alike for personal glory, rewards and titles! We will be having weekly ranked tournaments all leading up to an end of the "season" race between the best of the best for galactic bragging rights! Did we mention you can tweek and upgrade your swoop bike?

*We are actually giving you a reason to visit your local cantina other than gaining rested XP. New Pazaak tables have opened up around the galaxy and a call has gone out to gamblers and card sharks alike to test their skill and luck at the table! Play against NPCs to learn your craft then test your new found skills against other players and enter tournaments for big credits, prizes and titles! Search the galaxy for that one card that will give you the edge! You never know if random thug #214 has that card you have been wanting until you kill him, right?

And we wanted SGR options for companions, but, whatever. :(

  3. I remember reading that September had the least pre-orders, so with a little luck we all get in since the waves are equal in size. 26 September here and I hope for the 4th wave.

Perhaps, I saw a lot of Aug 20+ say they got in on the last wave so hopefully...they go into mid-sept on the next wave.

  4. MY RELEASE DATE SPECULATION FOR TODAY BASE ON AN EDUCATED ASSESMENT

StephenReid: Email invite waves for today, 12/14

Today, we're inviting many more people to play The Old Republic - more than yesterday, and over a much greater time span.

As explained yesterday, our initial pre-order rush was over a very short span (about a week). Today we'll be inviting well beyond July, but again, we're remaining cautious as we send each email wave.

We're currently planning on sending four waves of email invites today of equal size. We're going to get them out as fast as we can, while monitoring player counts and server population. I'll update this thread when each wave is sent. You can also follow our official Twitter account for notification.

    Wave One was sent at 8AM CST (6AM PST / 9AM EST / 2PM GMT / 3PM CET).

and people are saying the 28th of July - the 8th of Aug

that is 11 days ... 4 waves of 11 days would be as follows:

    • Up to aug 8 in wave 1
    • Up to aug 19 in wave 2
    • Up to aug 30 in wave 3
    • Up to sep 11 in wave 4

Now that is all things being equil... AND THEY ARE NOT

Hope so..then I can sneak in at the end :D

I just want to put it down for the record that the way this early access program has been implemented is truly one of the most poorly conceived ideas that I've ever personally encountered in over 25 years of playing video games. I've personally participated in launches of 6 other MMO games, and there is nothing in those experiences that compares to how ridiculous this process is.

When you are dealing with a pre-launch even that is only for pre-order customers, after an extensive and massive beta testing period that was a huge success according to nearly all sources involved - it begs the huge question as to what is the limiting factor in the way you have chosen to roll out this game. I personally participated in the beta in a very limited way (not by choice, mind you, I just wasn't lucky enough to get a key) and was only online during the big Thanksgiving weekend test. That test was wonderful - there were a huge number of servers, and a huge population of testers. The game performance was amazing.

So, EA/BW - what exactly are you afraid of?

The ONLY way this should have been done is to have given ALL pre-orders (perhaps separated only by level of game purchased - i.e. CE customers get 7 days, SE get 5, e.g.) access at exactly the same time. Of course it will overload the servers and queues would ensue and all that - but that's what we all expect. Making your customers wait unknowingly with no idea how long it will be or when to expect an email is just adding insult to injury. A poor alternative would have been to send out emails with a set time and day that your access would be available.

I read in the top post how you are monitoring the server performance and are rolling waves based on server performance. Are you seriously saying you have to wonder at this point if your servers can perform up to the task - when you probably still have 90% of the launch day players yet to even be able to play? That is not at all a good message to be sending at the beginning of an MMO franchise.

At any rate, I love this game. I love BW. But I truly despise and am sickened by the way you chose to put your customers through so much stress for absolutely no good or justifiable reason.

I truly hope you improve, because this is a very very poor way to start out.

  7. After boasting your servers were coping with 750000 people during the beta you let a trickle of players into your servers and stop after only 9hours of waves. You've let barely 200k in - each server (which you happily boasted about) can handle 80-100k.

    Complete joke of a system.

The worst thing is the constant cryptic BS messages your company has posted on twatter and other mediums teasing that lots would get in.. You've failed to delivery epically.

You managed to let in 6 days of pre-order, you've now killed any sort of game economy and given a select "elitist" few a massive headstart and advantage irrespective of server.

    Bunch of ***** your company.

  8. Ok I was staying positive and think the stagger is a good idea as it will ease people into the game, personally I'd rather wait a day or 2 than jump in with a million other people and watch the servers crash over and over and then when you finally do get back on your fighting a thousand other lvl 3's for the same mobs... BUT...

1:30pm in the afternoon and their calling it a day? GOD I wish I could work 10am-1:30pm, what a great life that would be! In all seriousness I can not fathom a reason as to why they stopped doing waves? they are accomplishing what they set out to do by staggering the login process and giving people time to level and get out of the noob areas so new ones can come im, why do they have to stop?

I had assumed once the "waves" started the would finish when the last pre-orders were invited in... whats going to happen now over the next what, 20.5 hours? Nothing? Can anyone explain the thought process behind working this wave process for 3.5 hours then stopping for the rest of the day?

I know I'll prolly get flamed as just another whiner, and honestly, I'm not whining, I'm quite happy to wait my turn, it just seems like a massive gap between swells....

Not sure on the thought process behind this either. Stopping waves at 1:30pm is silly.
