  1. The changes in MMOs are mainly cosmetic.

While I would say if any designers take my suggestions into consideration when designing their MMOs, there would be an upfront cost, after that, the costs of maintaining is minimal.

For example, if you do away with levels, you won't need to constantly make new content. Because your initial content can be enjoyed by many people constantly because they are FUN.

Let's imagine this using SWTOR as example.

Imagine no levels and anyone can run any flashpoint as they wise and as often as they like. And let's say flashpoints don't need trinity. So today I may be running with 4 DPS, tomorrow with 1 tank and 3 DPS, next day 1 healer and 3 DPS. And everyday I run different flashpoints. My experience will be different because the fights will be different and I can run different flashpoints instead of just 1 or 2 "end-game" flashpoints. Or worse for operations only that particular operations for that particular gear. I call it the locust behaviour. Consume on flashpoint/operation and then move on.

Or I decided to switch over to imperial side when I was previously from republic. (Either PvP or PvE). The subsequent cost to make new contents are not going to be much because players will run your new content only because it is fun and won't rush to complete it just to get the next new "phat loot". There is not way you are going to make new content faster than player can consume it. Hence make the player enjoy the consumption.

Essentially, MMOs should be like a fine restaurant and not MacDonald's. (even Mac is trying to make the dining experience enjoyable now instead of grab a burger and go)

100% agree with this and so many games make this mistake. Why waste time, resources and content on things that will only be played through briefly never to be seen again unless your an altoholic (which in my opinion is a terrible way to design your game to have to rely on alting for any type of replayability, but thats a whole other issue). By eliminating leveling everything created can be forever playable and no zones go to waste.

  2. There's a good reason it's not allowed too, you can show all the video you want of some guy "speed hacking" but how do you know he's speed hacking and not rubberbanding from lag? You can show someone "exploit capping" a door in VS but how do you know you aren't glitching and just failing to render his toon?

You can call people out for hacking all you want, but it's just hearsay and slander unless you have screenshots of his monitor showing the program he's using to hack.

Especially since 1.3 went live there have been huge problems and bugs with WZ from the vents in Huttball not working to people falling through the floor in Alderaan, hit box detection failing and general all around latency issues.

Before people start saying "OMG HAXORS ARE X1000% NOW!!!" Maybe you should give people the benefit of the doubt and realize this patch was buggy as ****.

A 2 min Google search of Swtor cheats/hacks/etc will show you everything out there and the how to of it all, anyone who denies that this stuff doesn't exist in this game is a dummie. Yes there is plenty of bugs and exploits in this game, oddly its ALOT of bugs and exploits but there is a significant amount of the hack/cheat stuff going on, granted there is just as many baddies yelling hacks every time they lose as people doing the hacks themselves, but regardless its out there, used far more often than I like to see.

  3. If you're going to re-roll your main, you might as well roll one on an whole new game.

Or, do you plan to re-roll every 5-6 months?

This is what I did, after 3 50's and quite a few in the 25-40 range both on my main server and Fatman I am done! Cannot stomach having to run through all that leveling content again. I have 3 50's that have progressed as far as they possibly can and I cannot play them now, server is way too dead, no pvp no pve nothing! Sub cancelled and investing my time and money into other games now until BW actually shows they give a **** and start merging or transferring or what ever they are gonna do so I can actually play the characters I have put significant time and effort into.

  4. Well that took just a few days. Now back to a game that actually adds content and is not a shallow rehash. Dunno why people thought that D3 was gonna be the second coming of gaming. It was just another hack n slash with a RMT auction house.

SWTOR is simply more fun with more content better storytelling and constant updates with new content.

MMOs are not the same as a singleplayer RPG. You can take a break from an MMO to play a single player game. Heck I play Civ V in one screen while waiting for my raid to get assembled and put together in the other.

WOW!!! You must be a pro and the first and only in the world to beat it on inferno mode!

  5. I can also TYPE in random CAPITAL words.

    summer IS not here YET.

SUMMER starts on June 21 (pretend that 21 is in capital numbers.)

So say June 21st is the magical day when BW finally decides to get off its "you know what" and finally offer the server transfers, players then start the transfer process, players are now somewhat happy to be on a slightly more populated server, BW standing tall with chest pumped out proud of their accomplishment! and then.....................June 26ish the possible release of GW2, servers once again empty out and BW is right back where they started from, unhappy player base, further bleeding subs, end of the world etc.

This transfer thing is a**backwards, they really should've concentrated their efforts into mergers, cut the servers down to a 3rd of what they have and then offer transfers, This server transfer system will be a bigger fail then 1.2 and accomplish nothing as far as the current population problem is concerned.

  6. All I hear latley is complaint after complaint "this is broken, this is garbage, my servers dead!"

You cannot honestly expect BW to keep everyone content this early into the game?

Yes the game has its flaws but ive seen much worse so here I am asking those who are still here to stick with it, pay your subs enjoy what content there is in hopes we can keep this game alive and not have another "Warhammer Online" The more people who jump ship means the more people will follow!

Stick with the game and it can only get better.

Everyone realizes that you cannot make everyone happy, its an impossible task. The problem is its not getting better, its getting worse, if it was getting better we wouldn't have dead servers and no one to play with. Good decisions by this team have been far and few between thus resulting in a 25% loss in subs and STEADILY DECLINING!

I am one of the few who do love this game, I also was one of the very few who loved Warhammer and played it for years and this game is following the same pattern but worse IMO. Tor needs help and needs it fast!

  7. The pop on my server is just bad now, right now 22 in fleet, only about 6-7 of us PvPing ( or trying too) and stuck against the same republic 8man premade, for the last 2hrs, the queues are some what quick but just getting stomped. Only need 2 more matches to finish my daily then its off to actual fun things. 2 more days till D3, my entire guild will be gone as well as many others I know of. Heres hoping BW fixes this issue before the next GW2 beta event I dont think this game will last after another of those lol.
  8. /signed

Sadly they will not come any where near soon and servers will become completely empty. Some odd reason they feel server tranfers are a higher priority, i guess they are looking for the next mini cash cow to help with the bleeding subs.

  9. Now to finish the daily all we need to do is show up 6 times... That will surely encourage players to try.

What was the thought behind this one? First they make people invincible with too much expertise now, all we have to do in a WZ is show up to get credit?

One bad decision after another, really quite amazing there are any subscribers left.

Thought behind this was to get its player base to actually PvP, the system really encouraged bad play habits thus why you always see players quitting matches, matches starting uneven due to queue dodging premades etc. BW really did everything in its power to make its PvP as unenjoyable of an experience as possible, this is the first positive change in a long long while to make it a positive fun experience again.

  10. Yesterday: Very long queue times, very uneven teams most games starting with maybe 5 or 6, most games I did get into match was mid way through and my team was getting slaughtered, players leaving constantly, EVERY MATCH was against the SAME 8 man premade!

Today after patch: Much shorter queue times, games starting even, havent got a match yet that was mid way through when entering, very very few players leaving, and actually getting matched against different teams besides the same premade for the first time in 3 weeks.

So yeah this daily thing is the first good step BW has taken with PvP in some time.

  11. there is more to it then saying x is coming out with 1.2 and saying x is coming soon. While people are going to be disappointed if it dont happen they will not be as disappointed with nothing, notta, no how said.

the game is bleeding subs, someone needs to say something. Soon and a future update is not going to cut it anymore. There is no reason why this company cannot put out a road map of where they want to go and what they want to add without soon and future being the only thing that comes out of their mouth. They want me to keep paying my monthly sub, they need to give me a reason why I should.

They have yet to give a response and thats why I am not giving them my money anymore, I unsubbed last night and it killed me to do so being I was such a huge fan of this game pre-1.2. My server came to a crawl after 1.2 but still tolerable, after the GW2 beta my server was completely dead and has remained so. How is BW going to justify a $15 a month sub when GW2 releases and has significantly more PvP content at a much higher quality for no monthly fee? BW owes it to its player base a long explanation and prove to us this product is worth sticking around for. I have 115 days left on sub lol, that should be more than enough time for BW to come up with something truly great to make me regret my unsub, if they dont well there is plenty of other games out there.

  12. 1.2 was a big step in the wrong direction no doubt, I could care less about ranked because you know what? With out cross servers, server merges, and free character transfers not too mention the cheats and hacks running around it would've been an even more of a massive failure than not releasing them at all. The PvP player base showed its unhappiness with the new system by either not queueing anymore or just not logging in, but on my server our queue times were still pretty descent following 1.2, where our server took a hard dive in population was during and after the GW2 beta, takes forever to get in a match and when you do its against the same premade all the time, republic side is non existant, havent seen a single match in over a week.

I guess what bothers me most is how BW just refuses to address and answer any concerns from its PvP base about the current state and give us some hope that some really good things are on the way, I played the GW2 beta, it was amazing! Now BW has to come up with something in about a month from now to justify why I should be paying them a monthly sub fee when I can get significantly more and better PvP content without a sub when GW2 launches.

  13. Could we please make this happen? I don't understand why so few people support this.

I have no problems with 8man queues but it should only be 8man premades vs 8man premades, anyone who thinks this should not be is very bad at the game and heavily relys on rolling pugs to have any form of success in this game

  14. Until BW makes some legitimate fixes to its PvP system its only gonna get worse as the weeks go on, and once GW2 officially releases and you are on a low-medium pop server forget about ever PvPing again, queues will take days. My server Belgoths Beacon (often high pop) was insta queue times even with a premade up until 1.2, after steady increase now up to roughly 10 -15 min solo 20-30min premade (50 bracket, pre 50 much longer). Today was a weird day, took a break from GW2 beta to get some Tor time in (cause I still honestly enjoy the game) and was insta solo queues with only 37 on fleet, sadly was against the same premade for 8 consecutive matches, not enjoyable at all, just a big ole cc/stunlock/zergy/burst/insta gib fest. Needless to say went back to GW2, see yas monday lol.
  15. After spending some time in GW2 beta I must say I'm quite disappointed.

Dialogue was horrid, UI was not that great, combat was nothing special and god the character feeling... It felt like I was floating in the air, jumping didn't feel that great either.

But Dynamic Events was really cool, so it has it's ups and downs :) but GW2 is far from "revolutionary", it will not "kill wow" and it will not have an big impact on SWTORs subscribers.

I think SWTOR is the better game. What do you think? and to any of you who have experienced the beta weekend, feel free to tell us about your experience :)

Gotta tell ya, played the beta and found the PvP to be exceptional, none of this gear>skill stuff, no repeated zergy CC stunlock burst dead fest, lots of great world and instanced PvP and really brought to light the absolute pile of dung that is Swtor PvP. When GW2 releases wave farewell to any remaining PvPers left in Swtor, they will be gone, IMO its that good. Its not a WoW or Tor killer, I will not cancel my Swtor sub cause there is alot here I like, but not enough to keep me here as my full time MMO, but GW2 with no monthly sub, how can you not play it, especially if your into PvP!

  16. I know not everyone will agree with me. I have 3 50's, I'm currently leveling a 4th and I'm kind of irritated that I can't spend WZ coms the way I want to. Who cares if I wanted to pvp a lot and work on building my BM set early this time so I'm not gutted consistently at 50 until building my set. I still would of put the same amount of time into attaining it as post 50. The only difference is that it would be fun working on obtaining my set rather than a headache.

I like pvp but it discourages me from pvping if I can't buy what I want until I'm 50 since coms cap out at 2k. I'm better off rushing to 50 and then working on my set rather than taking my time enjoying the game and working on it as I go.

(Because I like to pvp but am a min maxer so I don't do something if I'm wasting reward.)

Anyway -sigh, game could be more fun for ppl that share my viewpoint.

I think it would be a good legacy perk, already have a 50, valor rank xxx, 2nd character of xxx valor rank/level = being able to pre-purchase BM gear, OR for every 50 your wz comm limit goes up drastically, 1 lvl 50 = 2k wz's, 2nd lvl 50= 4k, etc etc. Would definitely keep things more competitive which is what pvp should be all about, not gear disparity.
