Balance is such short term - and to be honest - I for one may sometimes like to shout out "*********** UNBALANCED PEICE OF ****!"
And whatever you may say - I am a rather calm person and I consider myself a very calculating person in general. Trying to look at fact before i start shouting bloody-murder.
And to make changes to PvP and not PvE would make a HUGE mess of things. Not to mentino the challange in basicly learning "two classes at once" with that.
And in the end it would become two seperate games - they arleady are differnt game modes - but more so then now.
They prob nerf a general class skill due to them being OP in Pve, aswell as PvP. I think with PvE - and PvP talent trees, they can affect a class's PvP viability, without majorly hampering it's PvE. THis is my answer to that.
And like you said about balancing. There is NO ****nig way in hell that they game will be balanced enough for everyone to be glad. You always have the difference in skill, the chaos theory (in a nutshell - you luck), a persons lvl of awarness (tired, speeded, drunk).
And also - some classes MAY be stronger at one point, and then get weaker in another (tough, late game should all be as balanced, as humanly possible).
Ex: jedi consular with stealth and force dash can finnish Enemies of the Republic solo. Since they can reach the final boss - and by harnesing the bosses battle mechanics - beat him alone. Will take a LOT of time, but it is possible!
The best way you can do is try to look at the % and try to keep them as close to 50% as possible. Are the republic winnnig 50% of the time? Are the sith winning more or less?
Take the following text with a BIG pinch of salt - sicne I have been to buisy with work to look up the following facts, and appreciate if anyone correct me without questioning either age or mental stability. >.<
The lvl diferance: Right now ANY lvl and all can join the same PvP trough bolstering system - and we all know from experience - bolstering is one of the least balanced. WoW only had lvl brackets.
WAR had bolstering-lvl brackets - which is one of the few cool features they had. Much easier to balance something between 10 lvls, rathern then SWTOR's 40(?!?!?!). Higher lvl was still stronger, but the lower could atleast hold out till help arrived.
Theri reason behind this, as far s I can tell, are que times. Which I don't think would be a problem if they made Warzones cross-server. (We have the technology!)
HELL, it's barely a problem now due to the INCREIBLE amonut of people with intresst in this game. :S
I hear they will cahnge this after the "first" patch, whenever that is - ´but I havn't read the officials on this.
