Thank you for the great information! So what I gather is that TK has good burst, but it reliant upon procs. While Bal has equivalent damage output, but over time via DoTs. Does one lend itself better to leveling than the other?

I'm trying to decide which spec to go with my Consular for primary solo PvE content. As such, I've been looking over the the TK and Balance trees pretty heavily. But reading numbers will not provide the true feel of how a spec plays. Can anyone with experience in these two trees explain what is the core play style difference between the TK and Balance specs? I've got a 25 Van that I'm enjoying leveling and am trying to decide what's an efficient leveling spec to go with. Due to RL family obligations, I find myself soloing most the time, with only the occasional grouping with a friend. I've tried some of the DPS builds and they felt a little squishy, and I've tried the tank build and had to rely on my companions do bring any damage. So I'm seeking some advice from more experienced troopers out there, as mine is only 25 and obviously I don't know what potential the different specs have to offer down the road. Do the DPS specs offer smoother leveling backed by Dorne? Or would a tank spec work better, backed by one of our DPS comps? And is tank, is it better to go full tank spec and tank gear? Or go after something more offensive like the IF build with more DPS focused stats? Once again, this is mostly from a soloing perspective. I thank you in advance your your time and feedback!

I'm on the Shadows quest where you're supposed to confront Lars Beddag. I went and talk to him initially, then interacted with the fake Noeticon. I went through the question and answer game and was back in the room where a green triangle stated to confront the real Lars Beddag...but he's nowhere in the room and there's nothing to interact with. Has anyone else encountered this? Or have a solution? I tried resetting the quest multiple times to see if it fixed it and to take different paths through the quest...but to no avail. Suggestions? I'm looking at running a dps spec PT within a regular group. But I'm not real familiar with how the two dps trees perform for the PT. Could anyone with recent experience with either/or both trees provide a little insight into them so I can make an educated decision on a spec? I thank you in advance for your time and response!

So it sounds like running with a dps comp, except for end story bosses is the most efficient way to go? And if so, is there any dps difference between equally geared companions I'd dps mode? Thanks!

Is it safe to assume that all three of the tank classes are similar in this regard? That they have their squishy moments until they get their healing companion? My only concern is that with the lower dps of the tank spec, that our healing companion might not be able to out heal the incoming damage from yellow stars faster than we can drop the boss. But if I read the responses correctly, my concern is incorrect. Thanks.

Greetings! I'm looking to add a tank to my roster and was considering a Vanguard. But I have a question for the veteran Vanguards out there... How well does the SS Vanguard handle solo content? I'll have access to some limited grouping opportunities with friends, but it's very erratic, so I'll do a good amount of soloing as well. I've tried a JK Guard a bit and sometimes he doesn't always feel as 'tank-ish' as I'd expect, especially with storyline boss fights. How does the Van feel? I'm at the point with my JK that I'm flying up to choose an advanced class. I'm debating which side, the Guard or Sent to go. How is leveling a Guard? I have a Mara on the Empire side, so I'm familiar with that play style. How does the Guard compare? And how's leveling as Vig vs the defensive spec? Greetings, I've been reading the forums and it seems that Anil spec seems to be preferred for end game PvE and PvP more so than the other two specs. But what about leveling? Would Anil or Carn serve me better during the leveling process? After reading about Anil, it seems it relies heavily on it's DoT mechanics, which might not have time to tick to their full potential while leveling. Greetings, I've been reading quite a few posts on these forums about the builds and rotations between arsenal and pyro. But they just bring me to the question of "which would be more adventageous to level in a pure group setting"? I have a four man group that gets together each week to group and I'm planning on playing my BH Merc with this group. I read that arsenal has a slight dps advantage, but if I read correctly, you have to stack TM for that to play out. I've noticed thus far that mobs are dropping very quickly, so would you have time to stack TM on aything other that bosses? Does pyro bring something to the grouping table better than arsenal? I was just planning on using the crafted blues for my character as I level, then delve deeper into it end game. I do plan on outfitting myself and my companion along the way, but I'm not going to spend the credits to get to purple. Does that make a difference?

Greetings all, I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer from personal experience. I'm leveling Armortech on one of my characters, paired with scavaging. The question is, would it be more cost effective to take underworld trading for the rare metals? Or to take slicing for credit generation, and just buy the occasional rare metal from the GTN? I know the prices will vary by server, but I'd think there would be some general consensus on this. I thank you in advance for your time and response!
