  1. Interrupting him is key. Right at the start, and whenever his blue cast bar emerges. Keep you eye on it. If you do this, he is easy to defeat with Qyzen. I did him first go, lvl31, as a shadow tank. He really is easy if you keep your interrupts ready to go. And keep force breaching him...
  2. I am lvl48 Shadow Tank and I love Qyzen. Have used him almost exclusively since Tython only changing for Theran for some big bosses where Theran's medwatch just let me grind them down. But that was very rare. I have Qyzen permanently set in DPS combat stance and turn off his AOE abilities then go about my business. If you keep him well geared as consistently as yourself, he should be perfect as he has great survivability & good dmg. Personally, I like his backstory and companion missions too. Pretty cool having someone call you herald all the time. Zenith is okay, I find Iresso useless and Nadia has bad survivability but great dmg. Theran has his uses as healer, but Qyzen fits perfectly for me. I don't have to worry about him too much, he carrys his weight in dmg terms and gives me some time to work a battle out. I have respecced from Infiltrator to Kinetic also along the way around lvl34. I think he'd be even more useful for sages...
  3. funny stuff, good job mate. Now do a star wars version of a midnight oil song...
  4. I completely agree with your response here TarisKnight... Each point in your response is exactly as I'd write. Please don't worry about the idiot who wrote that you may look like a "turd sandwich". In my country, we call these people jerks or a'holes who choose to deliberately miss the point of a topic/suggestion and post ridiculous counter-posts whilst standing on their metaphorical soap box, then close by slinging dumb insults making readers realize that the insulter is really a total idiot. To reiterate, I love SWTOR, I think Bioware has done a really great job. I am totally invested in the game for a long time. If there were NO more changes, i would have no problem and still love the game as is. For me, PvE is where it's at especially with the amazing Bioware content. The issue is that I (and TarisKnight) have is that we love the game so much we are out leveling. A suggestion was a optional switch to occasionally switch off XP gain for those 100% completionists. It is not a massive issue, but really, NO video game issue is a massive issue.
  5. This has totally been an issue for me for a while. I thought it was just me! I am now lvl 40 and play a Consular Shadow Tank as my main. I am now at the stage where I am desperately trying to not kill ANYTHING or achieve anything (outside of class mission) out of fear my lvl 34 and 35 Balmorra missions will grey out. I am now doing NO bonus missions also. This has been building since lvl11 when I finally left Tython... I have lost a few mission to the "greyness" and a flashpoint or two but now I will probably be arriving at the next planet already fully greyed out because at this rate I will be 7 lvls over! I thought everyone liked to do all missions, all heroics, all bonuses, explore on each planet, kill any enemy standing, look in each room/cave/corner and do all available space missions and flash points. I don't double up on anything though, nothing. I just wanted to taste all PvE content and it's kicking me in the a.s.s. now. Clearly Bioware planned the XP gain / leveling progression for the majority of player trends, which it seems try to get through the class story asap and do a some other missions here and there, but not 100% of everything offered, let alone actually explore "sandbox" style. I'd love an XP lock (but keep getting credits and reward gains) so if I felt like hanging around a planet and exploring I could do so without fear of eventually being so far above lvl that I eventually arrive at a planet with potentially everything already greyed out. I guess my next 10 lvls will be just sticking to class story so I can balance back in.
  6. Kinetic Combat all they way for me. Have respec'd my shadow main character twice and a full Kinetic spec for me is much better overall for solo PvE (with a DPS spec Qyzen) Group PvE content (Heroics, Flashpoints) and PvP. Just my opinion... I roll a Vanguard as an Alt, and I also find Tanking in group content with Shadow Tank much better with good damage too. Hold aggro much better, control battle well and delivers some good damage.
  7. Absolutely brilliant thread. I'm relatively new to MMO's and this thread has really helped value add to my SWTOR experience, despite the game being pretty good and self explanatory for noobs like me. Highly recommend this to all new players of SWTOR who are also new to MMO's. Little latency tip: If you have a lower - mid end machine, it really really pays to set your graphics preferences low. Yes it does take away a little realism, but the gameplay is significantly better, enough to compensate what you lose in quality. Sounds obvious to long time MMOers, but I didn't realize how much better the game runs and my pc is pretty good.
