  2. no, it's an issue with swtor that a ton of people have been experiencing since yesterday. if you're still having this issue - try setting your dns server/alternate to the openDNS servers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 it has resolved it for several of us

  7. Possibly the most situational QQ post in Frogdog history. In fact, I don't even know what you're crying about - are you crying about 1v1s/duels with all things being equal, or just about your general encounters with powertechs in warzones? Random encounters in warzones will frequently be one-sided in either class's favor just due to which cooldowns each player has available at the time. That said, to claim that we are "virtually guaranteed at least 6 seconds" of CC against you is absolutely ridiculous. I would recommend placing your CC breaker on your action bar and keybinding it, along with Hunker Down. Hunker down is what, 20s of immunity on a 45s cooldown or something like that? If you can't tear up a single target as a gunslinger/sniper in 20s you're doing something horribly wrong, which brings me to the next quote: If you cannot tell when someone is switching to you or beginning to attack you, you are again doing something horribly wrong. PROTIP: when red nameplates come within 20m of you in a warzone, chances are they don't just want a hug. Does this mean you expect to be able to plant yourself in cover in one spot, never move, and want a new ability that roots your target in place for the duration of the fight? You play a relatively stationary class, guess what, you're going to get LOS'd. Deal with it; switch targets and make yourself an asset to your team, rather than focusing on going "toe-to-toe" with other classes or getting kills on all your targets. Yes, I eat terrible gunslingers/snipers for breakfast daily (see: those who proclaim themselves server best and think Hunker Down is useless). But I also get torn apart by good ones who are pounding on me from up on a ledge or off to the side of a fight that I'm engaged in.
  8. lol wut it's a wasted talent point, better spent anywhere else. 20% less accuracy is not good in pvp. they can (and will) still hit you plenty. every time i see someone throw down oil slick in a warzone i laugh, and then i destroy them. 2% overall damage reduction > 16% damage reduction on only 2 types of damage additionally, many attacks in pvp are internal/elemental damage IE not mitigated by your 16% armor increase. if you want the specific damage reduction numbers go google it. parakeet or even iron fist, like i said? herp the derp much?
  9. of course you can. and no, you will be laughing at them.
  10. props for a really cute name, but this build is awful. it's like a terrible version of the iron fist build (which is bad as well). oil slick? lol! 10% retractable blade DOT damage over 30% rocket punch crit multiplier? lol! no ion screen? lol! slightly less? try 20 times less. this is not an alternative to pyro. this is a joke compared to pyro, parakeet, iron fist (lol) or even a full ST build. i suggest Wilsu's Giggling Turtle build as an alternative.
  11. this. i have better ammo management on my vanguard than i do on my powertech simply because you guys get to shoot a rifle with your "auto attack." my BH just pings away with a little caulk-gun-esque pistol. now that makes for boring combat.
  12. Every time Eroex posts I get a tingly feeling....did anyone else start laughing as soon as they read "To many...." ? Good news is you got your feedback! Bad news is....no one agrees with you. The class is designed the way the class is designed, it's not going to be revamped because Eroex wants to stand at 10m instead of 4m. Pointless thread is pointless.
  13. Yeah there's not much rhyme or reason to the argument he's presenting (lol) in this thread. It's really just a "hey guys I want attention so I'm going to rip on a popular trend" thread that failed miserably. I guess we were supposed to say, "Wow, you really opened our eyes Eroex....jet charge is terrible!"
  14. I believe the post you just quoted states, quite clearly, my reason for defending the talent/spec. I absolutely think it's worth spending the points necessary to gain jet charge if you choose to play a more utility/support role rather than a pure damage dealing role. I played CP for a very long time and switched to pyro because that's what the guild needed more in warzones. I still play a valuable role in huttball matches as a pyro, but I don't have nearly as much capability to harass or stop highly mobile ball carriers. Even if a CP powertech is hitting the ball carrier with a "whiffle ball bat" as you say, he is still hitting the ball carrier, as opposed to a pyro powertech who often is left on a lower level to scratch his head and hope for the best. And that is why the skill is every bit as valuable and the spec every bit as excellent as us "jet charge obsessed" folks say it is.
  15. lol y u edit 4? I liked your original post where you took him seriously better.
  16. OP is brilliant - with hardly any effort he has succeeded wildly in getting all of you to take him seriously.
  17. Some of us play, ya know, for more than just medal farming. Taunting does not provide nearly as much support to your team as guarding does. Can you see the future? If not, I'm not sure how you're going to "position yourself correctly" to be within range when an enemy ball carrier gets pulled up a level or charges up a level. I bet you put IM on all your targets because it boosts your sustained DPS too. In PvP, burst > "sustained DPS." Ask any healer what's easier to heal through. Yeah his spec makes no sense. You summed up the tradeoffs of the more intelligent 8/8/25 spec pretty well. I'd still argue that the burst potential (and ranged burst potential at that) is more valuable in PvP than a flat damage increase, but that's just my preference. Playing non-TD and using explosive dart I really miss that extra burst damage.
  18. Are you seriously comparing DPS numbers for PvP? PROTIP: DPS numbers are for PvE. You clearly have no idea what PvP is all about. A slightly delayed 3-5k damage attack on a 15 second cooldown allows for much more controlled burst than.....about 1% crit and about 30 bonus damage? It also pops stealthers back out if you don't catch them with a stealth scan. It is, in every way, better for PvP than 9% more aim. It's a spec that offers more mobility, more survivability, and the ability to guard. It's not an all-out damage spec so to whine about its damage output really makes no sense. The "point," as you say, is not that you don't need jet charge in order to do well in warzones. The point is that charge is incredibly useful, especially in huttball, and should really be a trained class skill. If you don't understand why people are "obsessed" with the skill, you don't understand powertechs.
  19. If you have no problem getting into melee range on a target a level above you in huttball while grapple is on cooldown, you must be a wizard. Significant amounts of damage onto a target while closing range? IM does next to nothing so...significant amounts of rapid shots? And one rail shot?
  20. I've gone from playing CP to playing full pyro and the single thing I miss the most is charge. To say you don't understand the "obsession" with jet charge is to say you are clueless. Nine times out of ten, I wouldn't even use jet charge to try to score in huttball. We are not a ranged class, and to effectively harass, snare, and damage something we need to be on top of it. With people being gripped all over the map on several different levels, a 45 second grapple cooldown (or 35 seconds) just doesn't cut it - it's too valuable a cooldown to waste simply to close a gap. You'll generally need to save it as a last-ditch tool for pulling enemy ball carriers into fire. The "obsession" with jet charge is very reasonable - it gives the class some much-needed mobility.
