  1. Getting into the VIP lounge does not give you access to the CE vendor.

Well even better then. I get a swanky statue AND some chump selling me special... what, exactly? I think he just has a speeder. Or is he the one with the adaptive armor that's really expensive and not really all that cool to look at (unless you're imeperial).

All snarky-ness aside, that's cool. I thought everyone could buy from him if they spend the credits to buy the bracelet.

  2. 1 - Don't whine like a spoiled brat. You've spent five dollars. FIVE DOLLARS. And you demand priviledges like you paid 100.

2 - While buying DDE shouldn't entitle you to the role of a VIP, the CE buyers pretty much deserve it. I don't know if it's disregard or envy that makes you say such things, but remember that most of those CE buyers are, in fact, players, who decided to invest additional money by pre-ordering a more expensive version of the game to support BioWare. Of course, the Malgus statue is awesome and Gnost Dural's diary gives some fine insight into the fluff, but if $5 can give you everything else(aside from the vacuum robot), then you should at least be treated as a better customer.

Don't you try to school me on the fact that all customers are equal. They aren't. There are those, who would freeze their account and unfreeze it only to do the ops just to freeze it again for a week to preserve their subscription. And there are those, who bought CE and probably buy cartel coins. The content you get does not cover the price you pay for it. You are a better customer, because you put more money into developers' pocket. And you should be recognized for it. Why not give some more priviledges to them?

You will probably call me a selfish bastard with oversized ego, since I am one of those, but you can't deny that I am at least partially right and reasonable. Hell, even BioWare said before the launch, that they like the ones who pre-ordered the game earlier more, because they decided to give them the money long before the launch, entrusting the studio and boosting it's budget. Why is it something bad? And they were rewarded with earlier early access. It was super cool of BioWare to treat their better customers.. better. They deserved it. And I see no reason people like me, who support the game more than others should not get additional priviledges like more cool items in CE shop or some discount/bonuses at the Cartel Market.

So yeah, I kinda feel wronged by BioWare as a pre-ordered CE owner, because despite the very nice CC boost, they gave me nothing more for that. It's been a year and no single update for either the VIP or CE shop. But not really as angry as the poster. My discontent seems to be rather reasonable to me.

Actually, I think his point is that he spent the hundred (probably 60) and now other people are getting the same thing for 5 bucks. It's a pretty common complaint of consumers, but, like everything else, games devalue as soon as you put you money on the table. This is especially true in the MMO market where companies are constantly coming up with new offers and marketing gimmicks to gain subscribers. I really kind of feel for the OP having bought my own collectors edition myself (the Darth Malgus statue is pretty cool), but they've already said they plan on giving us some vendor love around 1.6 timeframe, so I wouldn't sweat it. Besides, everyone had access to those vendors from day one if they had a mil to blow on the VIP bracelet.

  3. There is a legacy unlock for this. It has been out since legacy patch. 200 k credits if I recall.

    Well, that's only half true.

The legacy unlock is for a field respec so you don't have to go back to fleet to change your talent trees. But if you're a sub, you get respecs for free. So in effect, you actually have "multi-spec". You can be anything you want within your AC, but there's no option right now to save one or more specs, forcing you to place all those talents manually.

  4. Just give everybody the loot like the op said no rolling ever! That way you can gear your comps as well as yourself along the way! Only makes sense since we are bound to be seeing more "companion" missions where you will need better geared comps.also this helps solo players do HM and heroics without being force to group up ! I for one enjoy chatting and selling and buying on the gtn. Would much rather be able to at least have a chance to solo the hardest parts of the game!

Da ***?? Can't tell if serious, or....

If you really are serious, WoW is that way ----->

  5. I believe the reason imperials are weak are because they are accepting too many aliens in their ranks

    I lol'd

But to the OP, the first 3 movies were set in the future, after the fall of the republic when Palpatine had declared himself emperor of the (new) empire. Of course the empire would be better geared in the movies at this point. What kind of moronic evil despot would actually let his enemies have free access to weapons and equipment?

The 2nd trilogy shows us happenings before Palpatine took power and things, in fact were relatively equal. Yeah, there were the armies of clones and droids, blah blah. But the republic armed forces were still pretty well geared... 'till the clones turned on everyone, killed the Jedi and formed up as Imperial storm troopers.

Finally, and much less fan boyish, your conclusions are hyperbole and conjecture. There's no actual proof to suggest that one side is more geared than the other. It's more likely you've convinced yourself this is the case and you're seeing an imbalance because of these preconceived notions. I don't even think you can claim faction imbalance after the servers merged into the mega servers we have now.

  6. This will never work the way it's set up now is that blaster rifles do more damage than pistold but because there are two of them the bonus damage from the second one makes it the same on average. If you change the damage of the pistold every class will be affected due to the buff to the gunslinger's and therefore sniper's damage

This is, in fact, not the case at all. The damage done by a weapon is detirmined entirely by the barrel/hilt that you socket which has an associated rank indicating power level. That rank of weapon will do the same damage to a target regardless of what weapon inflicts the damage. Furthermore, dual wielding characters take a rather substantial damage hit to the offhand weapon on top of an accuracy nerf. While both can be somewhat mitigated with gear and skill tree buffs, going to a single weapon completely removes all those penalties instantly. You may end up doing less damage with the same gear if you're at the top tier, but reallocating that extra accuracy and bonus damage talents might get you on par again.

But all this is a moot point. The current weapon restrictions are abitrary and somewhat pointless from a gameplay standpoint. The ONLY benifit we get from it would be loot rolls since it's rare to have 2 different classes rolling for the same gear with regard to their actual character. However, since people often grab stuff for companions, friends in the same group while pugging, and all sorts of other silly reasons, they really are just a barrier on immersion at this point. We've been barking up this tree essentially since launch and there's been no hint of them taking it seriously.

  7. I think perhaps the easiest way to remedy this is to remove the polesaber requirement from the shadow/assassin abilities. In this way, you could be all RP with your class and still have the range you played the sage/sorcerer for.

I can sympathize with the OP, but the limits on sabers was done to balance the heavy range dps. Ideally what I'd like to see is a true hybrid of the 2 classes. Something in the middle that has a little bit of melee and a little bit of range with the synergy to make it effective. Sort of like a mid to close range skirmish class. I do believe BW said more classes would be available "eventually", but that could be a day after EA pulls the plug.

  8. I'm not sure what this could possible serve to achieve to be honest. While I like the concept, there's just no call for it with the mega servers now. There are only roughly 15 servers active now (and they're fairly large). Furthermore, it's my understanding that f2p and preferred players are only allowed 2 characters ever. Not per server like subscribers. So I guess you could have one character on an east coast server, and one on a west coast or euro server, but that sort of defeats the purpose of alts in my opinion.

As far as subscribers having account wide legacy over multiple servers... I think many would view this as cheating. Especially if you leveled on a PvE server and then hopped servers to a PvP. While I'm not in any way thinking like this, it could be seen as though you got your legacy perks all bought and paid for without any of the risks involved with being on a PvP server. I'm just throwing it out there, but this is how several gaming communities, most notably WoW, fealt when player transfers were opened up for PvE to PvP realms. I know you still have to level a character again on the PvP server, but there's so much to be said about getting 30% more xp and affection from everything you do not to mention all the other unlocks that are available (and the ones that haven't been released yet).

As an aside, I maxed out multiple characters before the server mergers on a PvP server and too a break at around 28 legacy. I never let my sub lapse and when I came back, had to rename several characters (the legacy name wasn't taken anyway). Since many of the people I used to play with weren't playing anymore, I went back to the PvE server (that was merged) that I dabbled on before my friends bought the game at launch. I had to start my legacy all over again despite having 6 characters since none were maxed out and the legacy had only been unlocked for a couple character levels under the old legacy system. It's kinda rough, but the ability to spend cartel coins on prematurely unlocking things dulls the pain somewhat. I still don't think there's much need for account wide legacy.

  9. I am very interested in this. I've re-rolled many times because I didn't like my toon's cosmetics.

One of the problems there is that they're not all available when you start a character unless you've unlocked that race by hitting level 50 (or burning credits/CC). There are settings for republic and empire players on some races. This further exacerbates the problem since, now that you have more options to choose from in character creation, you have to start all over again since you can't reshape your character.

  10. F2P isn't awful- it's definitely not one of the better f2p options though.

It will get people to play- but not nearly as much as a well thought out f2p that acts like it actually wants people to play it.

Also, there's so many opportunities ignored. Sure, there's the cartel packs- which are obviously doing well looking at the thousands of items already on the GTN and armies of people flying around on thrones. Where's the 10 dollar minipets and 25 dollar mounts though? WoW is doing this as a p2p- and they're laughing all the way to the bank. It confuses me that EA wants to nickel and dime for UI options, which is a huge turn off for everyone- yet won't try to make big bucks on cosmetic things they know will sell.

This is literally the first of many things to come (so they say). The Blizzard stor didn't have jack when it first opened. Maybe a magical flying pony. And it stayed that way for months. Then a couple new things trickled in. They dipped their toe, saw the waters were safe and then waded into the river. It's a little different here since this is what is supposed to support the game, but you're silly to think that more is not to come. I believe I saw a quote saying there would be new items roughly every 4 to 6 weeks.

  11. You know that when you clicking an item in the store, it has a description. This description usually (but not always, I will concede) tells you if the item in question is free to subscribers so they don't have to purchase it. Unless they're buying it to sell, that is.

As for that Section X pass you bought.. it's worth between 100 and 350k on the GTN. Just depends on which f2p tier you want to sell it to...

  12. Most F2P games also make you buy the box to play. This one does not

    Exactly!

I think BioWare is having a problem right now because of the identity crisis it was going through. It wanted to be a sub, but EA wanted more money faster so they ramped up to f2p. But in the mean time, they had already given unlimited access to new players up to level 15 for free. This sorta sent mixed messages as to what you would be getting once f2p was launched. But until the launch, the game still had a box or a download that you had to buy and it came with a month of sub time. Essentially, anyone that was playing up to level 15 in the old model kinda got boned if they wanted to stay f2p because they lost a lot of what they... weren't paying for to begin with. It sounds kinda silly, but the perception is still there.

Now if you spent money on the box or digital editions, you have that time card that gives you a month of access free. If you bought the box to prep for f2p, you're actually in a decent spot right now. You can use those cartel coins you're granted to unlock some things you might want when your time runs out and you revert to preferred status. If, however, you burned your time card before f2p, you might have a legitimate beef, but I think you were still granted cartel coins (and even some extra for playing before f2p launched). So whatever you did with them is on you.

Ultimately, just about everything you have to unlock as a f2p player, with few exceptions, is novelty or convenience. None of it is "required" to "experience the game up to level 50". If you want to experience a SPECIFIC part of the game more in depth, then you're gonna pay for that CONVENIENCE or get a sub. This extends to the end game, Ops and PvP (at 50). Quite frankly, there's very little you're going to need many of the paid perks for until then anyway. And how much time have you played for FREE to get there?

  13. I think the game will grow under this f2p model (though really its a "free to try" model), but I was sceptical when they announced it. I'm fairly pleased at the value I get as a sub in my eyes. The only people that seem to be complaining about it are the launch players that jumped ship a few months ago (or more) and came back expecting way more than they got. Regardless of my opinion on that, it's valid justification for being upset. You didn't get what you were expecting. I have a feeling these players will either conform or filter out. It's somewhat rare that I see a player that is legitimately new to the game (as in actually downloaded it for free in the past couple days) that has complained about what they're getting from a content standpoint. As bugs are worked out and content is updated and added, I think newer players will feel happier with what they're getting and be more inclined to spend a few bucks in the store if not subscribe.
  14. Population = 70% dps, 20% heals, 10% tanks. You do the math on who gets in quicker with lfg. Make friends with a healer or tank, or pull /1 shenanigans. Things would be insanely easier with dual spec. No fussing about with reassigning points nor quickbars.

For all intents and purposes, dual spec already exists if you're a sub.

    Buy the field respec perk.

Respec for free in the field.

    Win.

Win again when you switch back for free after you're done.

The only thing I would suggest to improve on this is to have a save spec option so you don't have to keep manually confirming each respec. Not that you don't get pretty fast at it after a couple times, but it's a matter of convenience.

  15. Tell me about it. I've found recently I've made my first mil before lvl 20! :D

You have a point there, I did not take into account the f2p restrictions. That said, there are still quite a few subs happy to buy purple items from GTN. I might see what happens when I post a few more blues on the GTN and see if that yields any more income :)

It's certainly going to be exciting to see where the GTN goes from here. I mean, even if you do get a lot of f2p players buying the artifact unlock, they can still only spend 350k on your artifact craft. Depending on where the materials market is (assuming you didn't farm them with your own time and money) it could make the item unmarketable at that price. But by the same token, if that item is unmarketable at that price, there's going to be less demand for those materials , and so those might drop thereby making the item profitable again.

All in all, I think it will make the GTN a more dynamic market.

Or make it completely obsolete with the credit caps.

    We'll see in time.

  16. Crewskills. RE as many items as possible and sell the blues and purples. Trust me, once you start putting those purples on the GTN, you'll make a killing :)

I'm not thinking those purples are gonna be selling so hot now that only subs and those that pay for the unlock can use them. They'll certainly sell, but only to a select crowd now. And that crowd is one that's likely to be pretty fickle. I think the blues are going to be the wider market for this reason, but the profit margin will shrink per item since the player base will have credit caps (again, doesn't affect subs). Not that this is generally a bad thing, per se, but it might force people to choose who they're going to sell their items to based on what they charge.

  17. No. This has been hailed as one of the worst ideas in WoW history. Too many players that just stop caring about the objectives and just afk farming because they know the likelihood of seeing the same people in a PvP battleground (warzone) are relatively slim. Annonimity is a slackers/trolls/douchebags best friend.

Besides that, we only have about 8 servers for the north America and European regions now. And these are "mega servers" anyway. There shouldn't be a reason for doing cross realm anymore.
