  1. This is a game breaker for me. BW cannot be so stupid as to not understand the inherent unfairness of this. Why bother PVPing when you will get wiped by players that will always be ahead.

     

    Why have PVP up up at all if you fail so badly at this launch you don't have enough people?

    You're displaying a startlingly large level of ignorance. In a Battleground, a level 10 can face off against a level 30 without getting 1 shotted.

     

    Also, this can't be that big an exploit if even exploiters are well below level 30.

     

    They also say they're going to deal with the exploiters.

     

    Lastly, this only works when the server is low pop which means it will be come impossible to exploit in in a couple days.

  2. A lot of people would not play this game if it wasnt for the voice acting I know I wouldnt. The voice acting is what makes this game and it is going to make its money back at least.

     

    Right, why play SWTOR at all if you just want an end game grind fest? WoW still exists, and there's a thousand ftp that cater to the empty, hamster wheel, numbers game people like that play.

     

    People like that are literally addicted to the skinner box.

  3. I think the real fail is putting 250Million into voice actors when any idiot who has played even one mmo can tell you that 90% of the players willl spend 90% of their time at max level.

     

    the voice acted quests has to be one of the biggest waste of money and resources in a mmo's history.

     

    You wanna bet that the leadership of Bioware/EA has never even played a MMO? Fact is most dev's dont have time to play mmo's. The executives definitively do not play mmo's. If they did they would have never put that much money into voice acting content that most players will be done with in 3-5 days.

     

    So, what your saying is, WoW and other mmo's like it have killed the genre. No one can do anything different because they bring the WoW mentality into the game and simply grind to end game. Next time, start the game at max level.

  4. As i see it only a small part of people part of prelaunch guilds that where placed on certain servers are already in now. On the other hand i see that the servers where we were assigned to are already full with 90% of our guildmembers still awaiting access.

     

    As i see it this totaly destroys the whole use of the prelaunch guildprogram and makes it even harder for guilds to get started then with a normal launch at launchdate.

     

    I have the feeling this is a missed opportunity and normal launch without headstart in waves would have been better for prelaunch guilds :(

     

    there is a German article that says server cap will eventually be 80-100k people. Given the number of full servers being shown, that would require there to be over 5 million people playing right now.

     

    Conclusion? Server size is currently capped much lower than final. As new waves come in, that cap is raised a little at a time. So you're guild will be fine, as your members gain access, slots on that server will also open.

  5. Rift was absolutely the smoothest launch in MMO history. Yes it had issues, teh servers went down a dozen times each of the first 4-5 days...but total downtime was under an HOUR each day. You had outrageous queues but that was because people were willing to sit through 10 hour queues, that's a self-induced issue.

     

    They handled login server issues by openeing up teh server select lobby a good while prior to servers beign unlocked. I had hoped bioware would have taken note and copied the ideas for how to launch, not this artifically capped launch ********.

     

    Is it the 20th already? Didn't realize we reached launch.

    RIFT had more people playing day 1 than Star wars will for the next 3 days.

     

    If you're so sure, you provide the digital orders. Both games have heavy digital orders. If you can find any hard numbers with a link I'd be happy to agree with you. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke.

  7. Look only people of low IQ think before the 20th is icing on the cake. Reality check guy, the GAME HAS LAUNCHED, At this point if you are not in, you are missing out. Most people will be in on the 20th than after making anyone who gets in on the 20th one week late to the servers.

    Really? Did you pre-order the game with a release date on the 13th? Or are you just b***ing? If you don't have a receipt that says you get to play on the 13th you have no right to play on the 13th.

    NO other game I've known of has ever split EGA like, wnd while there was rage abotu queues, never to this level. Bioware has screwed the pooch on this one.

     

    10 pages past in the time it took to write this.

     

    I'll be interesting to see where we end up when the devs start deleting the spam posts.

  9. 1. Not being able to level with friends

     

    2. PVP servers will have the griefers who got in early insta killing everyone 20 levels below them repeatedly for the first few weeks. (I believe this makes them feel superior)

     

    3. Auction house will already be controlled by the early access guys.

     

    Time to quite your job, move in with your parents, and spend every waking moment playing the game.

    2. That kind of thing would happen regardless of when access started since people level at different rates. So, I take it, you're just angry that it's not you doing that so it's hard to feel bad for you.

     

    3. Not that big an advantage. The skilled players will claim control eventually regardless of when they joined.

     

    Final point: Not all servers are up yet, pick one of the new ones when you're in.

    This thread has become so amazingly pathetic. This is precisely the reason why MMO players (alongside COD and Xbox live players) hold the dubious title of most annoying, ungrateful, entitled, "instant gratification" gamers in the industry. Nay, in the entire society of the internet.

     

    I wonder if the fanboys are the patient ones who love the game but can wait and understand why this process is necessary (therefore called fanboy and Biowares lapdog) or if the fanboys are the people who qq about this game. this company, this world being unfair, then threaten to cancel (possibly the most feeble gesture ever) and still play the game 12-14 hours a day as soon as they can.

     

    Seriously people, don't post this again. It's just sad. We have known about this (you know, the structure of EGA) since the very start. Get over yourselves.

    We absolutely understand you want to get in and play the game early. It's one of the reasons we expanded our Early Game Access from a maximum of five days to a maximum of seven days. However, there are a couple of important points to realize about today's opening salvo of invites, and the procedure in general for Early Game Access and launch.

     

    First, Early Game Access and launch is not supposed to be a stress test. In our previous Beta Testing Weekends we got up to very large concurrent number of players and brought invites into the game at a very high rate. That was done to stress test every aspect of our systems and servers, and essentially to see if they broke. In some cases, they did, but that helped us improve for launch.

     

    For us, launch isn't just about stuffing our servers with as many people as possible. As anyone who's been through a large MMO launch can tell you, that experience can be painful. Our aim with this launch was to ramp things up gradually, to spread our player population out amongst a variety of servers, to maintain all server types, and to keep queuing to a minimum (although we expect that to happen as we head towards December 20th). So far, all that has been successful for us on Day One.

     

    The second thing to realize is scale. We invited more people to play Star Wars: The Old Republic today than many other MMO launches manage in their entire head-start process. As I mentioned earlier today, when we opened pre-orders we had a huge spike in numbers - far more than most MMOs capture at launch. That was the initial rush. After that, our pre-orders settled down.

     

    What this means is that tomorrow, you'll effectively start to see the pre-order timeline expand. You'll see people who have pre-ordered later than July getting invites. The day after that, more people will be invited. We're actually planning to invite more tomorrow than today, and invite the same number again on Thursday - at which point we'll be into the original 'five days of Early Game Access'.

     

    Last thing. Why aren't we continuing to send waves over time? Two main reasons - one, because we need to see that the servers are maintaining stability over time; adding a lot of players in a short period (in other words, stress testing) can cause stability issues.

     

    Two, our plan is to continue to add servers - but carefully, and in response to demand. We need to monitor that demand and role out servers accordingly. A long-term recipe for MMO failure is to add a lot of servers early on, and then when population decreases, have to close those servers and merge them together.

     

    Our aim is for Star Wars: The Old Republic to be around for a long time to come. Today's just the first step in that - an early step, too - and we'll be running smoothly, with a stable population, before too long.

  13. that is impressive, except for at the rate they are letting people in theres no way everyone will get in by launch day, so they will end up having to add more servers which they could have just done on day 1, this staggered access is flawed, because the majority of people from the day before will still login to play the next day so theoretically they can only invite an exponentially smaller number of people everyday, and even at the pace of invites of the first day they still can't fit everyone in in time

     

    Yes, and clearly that rate is set in stone.

     

    Give over, the 13th and 14th are bonus days to begins with. If people are going to b**** you might at least save it for the 15th.
