  1. Hey there, thanks for reading my thread. So...I'm a fairly moderate player, but I love story and want to get as many done as possible. This rules out doing regular dailies for credits. So..I was wondering if you have any suggestions for the best way to make credits with the following crew skills which doesn't require anything more than logging in every 20mins-1hr and setting the missions off? Sith Marauder: Artifice 400 Archaeology 400 Treasure Hunting 400 Jedi Sage: Synthweaving 400 Archaeology 400 Diplomacy 400 I was thinking a certain material to harvest to sell on the GTN or something...I have all the schematics/missions which you start with/get from the trainer. So...what should I be harvesting? If it makes a difference because of the economy i am on GIradda the Hutt. Thanks!
  2. Hi I know lots of people with great systems are having bad performance, but my current PC is awful and barely meets the minimums so I'm building a new one. Assuming I don't get any problems because of optimization, would the following with a 50mb internet connection (currently have 10mb but gonna upgrade, unless it's unnecessary?) run SWTOR on high graphics at 70fps or higher? Also, would the HDD be good enough to expect good load times? CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Memory: 8.0GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (2x 4GB) Hard Drives: 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Monitors: Asus 23.6" VS247H LED Case: Zalman Z9 Plus PSU: 500W Xigmatek Thanks for any advice and sorry if this is in the wrong topic, it seemed the most appropriate but I'm unsure. I'm a new player, but then again aren't we all at this stage?!
  3. I know what you mean about the game being poorly optimized, but I think upgrading is really necessary seeing as I have terrible load times and a very best 30fps at low settings. Looking at my current specs, they're borderline minimum so I'm fairly sure they're to blame. So...I think I'll definitely upgrade. You seem very knowledgeable, so in your opinion would the system I outlined be to blame for getting less than about 50fps on high settings? I know I may not achieve that due to bad servers and optimization, but would that system coupled with my 10mb/s download speeds and 1mb/s upload speeds be to blame? Thanks for the help!
  4. How long is a "very long time"? Mobs aren't meant to drop fast, you know! If you want to improve, you have a variety of options. Firstly, you should be doing all the side quests you can- that way you get loads of exp and won't have to come back to the planet to do overly easy quests when you're higher levelled (assuming you want to do all quests). If you're doing that, the chances are you're doing normally- remember guardians are tanks, not DPS, so it makes sense that it takes a while. Just make sure you buy all abilities for guardian AND knight from the crew skills people every time you level and always add stuff to your skill tree. Also, make sure you actually use lots of abilities! If you do that and are still unhappy with your performance, you could train your character to get higher levels than is natural for your stage in the story. You could do this either by training on NPCs (ironically, probably mobs!) or going on PvP (PvP is far better exp). However, I think this'd ruin the experience so I'd advise you to just keep going unless you find yourself dying constantly, which'd probably eb down to skipping side-quests. Hope I helped!
  5. I am a level 19 Jedi Sage and am loving it. To be honest, I'd advise you become the same. If you want to do heroics (needed for plenty of quests on Coruscant and beyond) or flashpoints, you'll have no trouble getting picked as a sage because of your healing. Sages have unmatched healing abilities and no team is complete without a good healer! They also have very good DPS for when fighting solo and are at least as capable as the shadow at completing things solo because you can either deal some serious damage from afar while your companion tanks or even just stand back and let your companion do the work while you hold their health up. On the other hand, the shadow's ability to stealth seems very useful. If you want to be more of a "mage" who deals damage, heals and is very useful for groups, choose the sage. If you're more an up-close kind of guy who wants to stealth, deal damage mainly up close but some from afar and be able to take a fair beating, I'd choose a sage.
  6. Hi there, and thanks for reading my thread. I am currently running a PC with the following specs: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66GhZ 2GB RAM (not sure of speed) Nvidia 8800GTS Graphics Card It usually has reasonable FPS on low settings, but I want to run on high. So, I'm looking for a new gaming PC to run SWTOR well on. I was wondering how you think this'll run SWTOR on max settings (except maybe AA which I'm happy to turn down a bit). Intel Core i5 2500K (Quad Core at 3.3GHz with 6mb Cache) Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Motherboard 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0GB/S Hard-drive (HDD, not SDD) Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 1GB Graphics Card Asus 23" VH238T LED Monitor 700W Xigmatek PSU Do you think this it'd run SWTOR at max well? If so, what sort of FPS could I expect? Also, do you think the hard-drive would give decent loading times? As of the PSU, would a 500W suffice for those parts? I'm ordering from DinoPC (a popular online PC seller in the UK) and the default was 500W, but it seems like it may be a bit little to me. Still, I don't want to spend £31 upgrading if it isn't needed! As well as that, could anyone give me advice on internet speeds? I get a 20mb connection, but when I run tests my download speed is 10mb/s and my upload is just 1mb/s. Do you think this could cause a degraded performance in SWTOR? I was hoping for about 50+ fps on at least high preset settings, and if the internet's an obstacle I can upgrade! Thanks for reading my ridiculously long post and I look forward to reading your advice
