  1. Sorry if this is a rehash; after searching the forums, I didn't see anything quite as concrete as this. I know there are "new" space missions on the way. Here are some thoughts for a cooperative space mission: The mission would require 2 (or more) people to be grouped and enter the mission together. There seems to be a readycheck system in place for group finder and it could be modified for this. On entry, there could be an approach phase where random stuff gets blown up. I imagine the main action to be something like space combat in Ep IV or even the SW arcade game (the really old original coin-op one). One player could fly down a channel with various obstacles to avoid and some turrets to shoot. There may be a "primary target" to hit at the end of this phase or some other primary objective, but I imagine this to be a navigation/avoidance phase. The goal here is to reach the target intact and successfully attack it. The second player is on the other person's "six" providing defense from incoming fighters, small turrets, or larger defenses (requiring more focus or firepower to destroy). I imagine the vantage point to be above the other player, and this action is more of a bombing run. The goal is to destroy as much stuff as possible as it will mostly be firing at player one. When each player finishes their role, they could have to switch roles to achieve the destruction of a defense structure or something. I realize this does nothing to fix many player's complaints about the rail system, but I see this type of mission working best on rails. Sorry! I also figure this would work best with a partner of your choosing. There are lots of instances in online gaming where people do not work co-operatively towards a common goal, so by choosing your partner this problem should be avoided. As this develops, players may have to coordinate paths. For example, there might be a fork which will divide the players unless they both fly to the same quadrant on their screen. Effectively, this would provide some level of steering control. Granted, not much...
