  1. Thanks all for the replies. I've started the process of gaining Daily Commendations so I can firstly get that Guardian 22 armour in each of the Oragne pieces I have. One that is done I'll be saving for the implants and ear piece. I've seen so many suggestions on the "advanced skill routes". If PvE makes up a lot of your time - is there a particular route to take? There seems to be a lot of "perfect builds for PvP" - but not so many pointers for teh PvE people Thanks again.
  2. OK, basics here. I've been playing since the beginning - so really I've got no excuses as to why I'm pretty dire in-game. I have a Level 50 Juggernaut who has completed her story. I got through the story without too much hassle. I had a couple of battles where I needed the help of a "Tame Commando" but otherwise we got through. So I hit thw wonderful world of Ilu last night, thought I'd start these daily PvE quests to get me some commendations and this is where I found that I really wasn't great. Strong 50's werre causing me hassle. Two of them at the same time and that really was a problem. Basically I felt out of my depth and I know it will be down to choices I've made and fundemental mistakes. So hands-up...I don't know what I'm doing and I'll request some help So I'm a Level 50 Juggernaut and folloed mainly the Defense Tree (left hand one). The majorty of my armour is currently Orange and I've got high-level armour enhancements in each. I've gone for Strength over Endurance on each of these...is that the best way? With regards mods, again it's Strength over Endurance and I believe the 3rd stat is Power. Enhancements are all over the place and I know this is major error number 1. So which Enhancements should I be consentrating on getting my hands on? I believe Shield Rating, Shield Absorb are important - so can anyone tell me the names of the Enhancements I should be looking for? With regards companions Jaesa is most often out and I KNOW I need to improve her armour and weapons. I guess that could be making a lot of difference to things if she was perfromming at her best? Basically I like the single-saber look and I want to be competant at PvE. I'm pretty sure I have my overall play tactics right. I don't just mash the keys etc. It's just I seem to be dying at a hell of a rate :-) So...please help the "nood 50" and tell me stuff - even the absolute basics that I may have glossed over. Feel free to be abusive...I NEED to learn this stuff to make my playing experience a lot more fun and certainly not "make credtis>die>make credits>die - find I've actually made a loss on the evening due to all the repairs!" Thanks all.
  3. OK, I know there are a lot of threads here and I have had a read through them a lot of them. I've combined a few of my questions here and hoped someone might be kind enough to answer them :-) OK, going to start a JK with the intention of taking him the Guardian route. I like the single sabre form. There are of course three advanced trees which I can follow. I know that there is plenty of talk of mixing and matching, however you do find you primarily follow one tree over the others. So.... Primarily you are PvE. You may do some grouping, but mainly for story quests you'll be alone or with companion. Which advanced tree would you choose as the primary one? On to question 2. I decided to make a Light Sith, my Sith is Light 5 and I actually quite enjoyed being the "Good Sith. Are there problems if you decide to go the "Dark Jedi" route? I know the game is aimed for you to follow the Light path but is Dark an option and will it cause hassle later on? Right, to question 3. Do you go for Strength over Endurance or Endurance over Strength? I'm talking really about Armour. I know Strength is the primary attribute, but Endurance is all about gaining health. When it comes to 2 choices of armour do you take the Higher Strength or the Higher Endurance option? To Question 3 before I wait for the servers to come back up and roll the characer. Armour Enhancements. Which ones should I be using? I'm guessing ones with Endurance as the primary stat. For 2nd and 3rd stat should I be looking at Shield Rating/Shield Absorb if I go the "Full Defence" skill tree? Soe ideas of the enchancements and mods I use in Orange weapons and armour would be handy. Oh - I also hear that "Critical" isn't so important to the Guardian. So Endurance in the Saber Crystal would be the better option? Thanks for taking the time to read. I'd like to go the JK Guardian route where I can PvE without too much hassle - I don't ind the challenges, but I want to actually stand a chance! If I decide to move into PvP then I'll post again about that once I reach Level 50 :-) Thanks.
  4. OK, most of my armour is Orange, so I'm constantly swapping in upgraded enhancements, mods, etc. With regards my enhancements I have previously been concentrating on those giving a bonus to Critical. However I see those that give a main bonus to Endurance give quite a boost. So really, should I be concentrating more on gaining Endurance from the enhancements rather than Critical? I've had a few fights where death has been close and a few extra health (which Endurance would give) would I guess be handy to have. Ta
  5. Sorry about this question. I've just started a Sentinal character for those days when I want to be "good". I've literally only just specified - Level 11. I'm looking at the three advanced tree's and they all seemed to be based around one of three "forms": Shii-Cho Juyo Ataru Now I've got the Shii-Cho form from....well I think possible Level 1. I see that you train the Juyo form at Level 14. However I've looked at all of the skills the trainer can teach me (at all levels, not just right now) and I cannot for the life of me see when the Ataru form is learn't. Am I missing something really obvious here? Is it a form you just gain at a certain level. Is it not even a form you learn? I'm just deciding on which advanced tree to go down. Shii-Cho I obviously know now, Juyo in 3 levels time, so might go that route. Worried about the "Ataru" route as I don't see when I learn the form! So, silly question out of the way - please be gentle
  6. I don't know how much of this has already been said in other threads. So if I end up repeating I appologise. Now I've enjoyed playing crafting characters since the days of Ultima Online - I played that from beta, so I've been around MMORPG's & MMO's for a long time. I am extremely frustrated about the crafting system in SWTOR and the general "equipment and weapons" situation completely. OK, first. THe absolutely best armour and weapons/componenets should be made by players. They should be a difficult schematic to get, no dropping from a known source, it should either take a fair amount of reverse engineering or a low chance random drop from high-end battles. I know on the surface this doesn't actually sound great for either crafters of those seeking the best items. But why should the very best items be easy to achieve? Before you say that PvP tokens aren't easy - they are. Maybe we could run missions to get "parts of a schematic" that can be combined? I know players will loath the idea that "the best" items are not readily availablr for a few PvP tokens and will actually have to pay for them - but it adds to the community of the game, something lacking a little at the moment. Another problem is that armour and weapons are "buy once". Because there are no penalties in the game (people use dying as a tactic to get past difficult battles) people will buy armour and weapons once and that is all. This does mean there is only a finite market for all of the people who do want to do some kind of crafting. I know that armour and weapons do require repairing, maybe repairing them should reduce their durability, possibly even sloowly reduce stats which means that eventually you will have a repeat customer. Again I know this won't be popular with the "console generation" players, but it adds a little realism and community. With crystals why not make some schematics require two different crystals to make different shades or colours? There appears to be only a few known colours - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple and rumoured White. Bring in some dual-colours of two crystals making a different colour and we'll end up with more variation and lots of people have said they want this. It's not all bad. Reverse Engineering is slow - we've all seen how long it can take to turn a blue into a purple. If it isn't already, this should be dependant on your crafting skill. So if something requires crafting skill 50 to make and I've got 400 then turning that into purple shouldn't be as difficult as say someone with 50 in that skill. However the chance of getting the purple schematic should not be increased - it should be difficult. Maybe we should look at adding a forth level. So Green for basic, Blue for Prototype, Purple for Advanced and then "Black" for ultimate/legindary - which should be very difficult to get obviously also requires a lot of reverse engineering of purple items. The "Exception Quality" seems like a wasted opportunity. If your craft something with "Exceptional Quality" (and it theory it should be possible to craft anything "Exceptional" then it should have slightly increased stats, certainly better durability so not requiring repairing so much - hence the issue of it needing replacing (see idea further above) isn't as much of a problem. The bottom line is that I was spoilt with an interesting crating system in UO. In that game it took 12 months of realtime play to "Grandmaster" one of the crafting skills and you actually felt proud when you got there. You were also a valuable member of the community and required. People needed what you could make. As quickly as possible "The Best" armour and weapons needs to be removed from the PvP or PvE "Dailys" and returned to the crafting community. As it stands at the moment the crafters are really not that much required - You can complete your story armed with nothing more than Green/Blue MOB drops, so crafters are only required for that period of time between you hitting the top level and soon afterwards getting enough tokens to get all the best stuff. I'm sure many will disagree with some of my points, maybe people would like to add to them. I'm always looking for a good discussion and who knows - a good discussion might be picked up by Bioware and looked at more closely?
  7. I am currently in exactly the same situation. As soon as I hit the controls for the lift I zone in, take massive damage and then die. This is the only active thing I've got on Balmorra. As it's a Story Quest then I'm kind of stuck now. How long has this been broken??
  8. The character I created right at the beginning got to the point where he got his surname. I was under the impression that these names were unique across all servers and that all of the characters you create would have the same legacy name. Since my first character is currently on hold (Just cannot defeat the Emperor) I've created some alternatives. None of these have my "legacy name" appended to them. Now I was thinking maybe they only get the name when they reach the legacy level. However I noticed some Level 4 and Level 8 players with surname sin place. So, is the legacy name unique across all servers or just the server you are on? If you have a character on a different server do they get their own legacy name later on or should they get the same as the first one you created? If so,how come my level 6 Sith doesn't have the surname that my Level 50 JK received all of those levels ago? Ta.
  9. Just joining the frustrated. I'll admit I'm a bit at a loss on this one. I've spent so much credits on repairs I am honestly getting rather low. I just cannot see how I'm supposed to win this battle. I'm finding it hard getting people to "come along for the ride" - they want Heroic quests or something that wont spoil the end of a class for them. I don't mind something being difficult - but to take away the choice of all companions except (in my opinion) the most useless and expect you to have any kind of chance against a Level 50 Epic I really don't know. I'm seeing people at Level 40 running around with "Master" titles - so I'm assuming they have somehow done this. It's just I've been playhing now since a week before the official release. I'm at Level 50, I have all 3 crew skills at 400 - this end fight is stopping me finishing things off. Sure I can go and attempt to get those purple schematics - but until I've won this battle I'm not going to be happy. I think I'm going to have to step away from this for a while - possibly start a new character somewhere as this is just going to drive me mad. If I can find somebody willing to come on this mission who should I be bringing along? I take it in theory I could bring 3 people along for the ride? Would 4 of us be able to finish this off?
