  1. I honestly dont see how bioware could have avoided this. I think unique first names are important, and since we couldn't change them before the forced merges, we couldn't do anything about it. Anything else bioware did could have the people who "won" this round being angry on the forums just like the people who "lost" this round. I'm sorry for those that lost a name, I lost a name myself (of a character I played the day before the merges), but there isnt anything to be done now other than complain, unsub, or move on.
  2. But people WERE complaining about all the cc in PvP. Thats why the moniker Stun Wars became so popular. Reducing the range on a stun makes it able to affect fewer people. This is Bioware's attempt to reduce the CC in Pvp. Will it work? I am not sure, I would love to hear from people on the PTS about balance and what not. Is it game breaking for PvE, hardly. It will make some fights slightly more difficult, but its always possible to stay with 10 meters of a mob and not get hit by melee. and if its ranged 30 meters or 10 meters doesnt make a difference
  3. But this isnt a four course restaraunt. Its a two course restaurant. Just because a restaurant has many options, doesnt mean that you should pick four main courses. And i think the game WAS designed for players to do everything and maintain balance. I played two different toons to 50, one pve and one pvp.
  4. ZOMG somebody who as actually played these changes! tell us moar!!!!

    GG

I usually throw out gg as good game, no matter what happened during the match. You win some you lose some, and raging about the losses, no matter how lopsided they are, doesnt help.
  6. you arent being "punished" for wanting to do both. You are doing twice the content and so you are getting twice the xp.
  7. But thats your choice to do both. Many players only do one or the other. I have pvp toons and Pve toons because I dont want to overlevel. Also, the 3rd or 4th time you are doing planetary quests can get pretty boring.
  8. Basically this Twinking made wow pvp no fun for me. Being able to turn off xp gain would lead to people sitting at 49 and getting the best armor/mods/weapons/etc and then having an advantage over other people. Im sorry that people are getting overleveled from doing warzones, but if you are playing warzones, doing your daily, class quests, and most planetary quests, you're doing approximately twice the content per level that the xp requirements for levels are expecting.
  9. Does anyone have any experience on the PTS to talk about these changes and how much they affect gameplay?
  10. PvP, you might have a case, but as a PvE sorc, I see no issue with these changes. If you were mobbed enough that you had to use overload, you were likely going to die anyways. If you cant walk to 9.9 meters of a badguy to stun them, thats a L2P issue. Whatever case might be made for PvP, I think these changes will have a minimal affect on PvE
  11. No. Brackets encourage thinking and would increase queue times. Also bolster does make your ambush three roughly equivalent to bolster seven
  12. granted, standard good vs evil does get boring after a while, especially when the good guys always win. And there can be morally ambiguous characters in the star wars universe. However they can't be Jedi/sith because moral ambiguity renders them powerless. You cant be enraged and serene simultaneously, they cancel each other out. Also, LS with are definitely not grey. I spare my prisoners and give my opponents a chance to surrendar before I kick their ***. Im light side, not gray.

    WZ Leavers

The problem with that is that the better/higher ranked players would have waaaaay longer queue times (since there are fewer of them) so they might be inclined to suck more to get more pops which would essentially render the matchmaking meaningless, imo

    WZ Leavers

I think that there should be some debuff for quitting that prevents requeing for a warzone for 10-15 minutes (although somebody said something about not being able to queue until the warzone you just left finishes, which i think is interesting). It doesn't hurt your stats, so you can continue to go questing (for lowbies) or running dailies (for 50s) without penalty, but it makes staying in a warzone much more beneficial than quitting and hoping for a new one. Personally, I have quit a few warzones because real life or a guild ops run comes up, but I dont quit if I'm losing or stuck with baddies. As a solo queuer you run the risks of going against a premade, being stuck with people in full recruit, and/or losing an early door/node. you win some you lose some.
  15. Its hit or miss. Ive had targets knocked away by overload. I dont think the root on ravage counters the kb on overload. Again, its not a huge deal, but something that happens. Also, i have had heals start when the target was in range and then be cancelled if the target moves out of range.
  16. or perhaps a maradaur sees a spec getting focused and leaps to help, and then mid ravage the maras target gets knocked away and 2 seconds later all the targets, are bwck on the sorc. Is that beneficial? i think this change is lateral, but the strategy to using it will require some fiddling with before it is used to maximum effectiveness
  17. I think the football analogy was a little off point. But it conveyed the point that quitting has consequences. Of course it's not exact, but no analogy is exact. Besides your counter analogy is also wrong. Players don't step onto the field as equals. Some are bigger, stronger, taller, faster, or smarter than others. When playing at a disadvantage you have to think of other ways to beat your man. In football this could be whatever the legal version of chop blocking is, or using short quick passes to make up for a poor offensive line. Its similar in swtor. fresh 50s aren't gonna toe to toe with WH but they can still cap nodes, help burn down healers, and call incs. And swtor is set up to reward this kind of play with the objective points
  18. Maybe because im exhausted, but I don't see your point. Im pretty sure im living in your universe though, unless you subscribe to the different perspectives=different realities theory
  19. All i was doing was saying things from a not strictly sorc perspective. I could probably make a similar case for any other class to the tune of "sorc used knock back which took my target out of range". sorry my position offends you :/
  20. Personally, i don't quit. Or i try not to. Sometimes real life or a guild ops run comes up and I bail. I try to finish the warzone but thats not always possible. Sometimes I'm so disgusted with my play that I throw in the towel. I think a 10-15 minute penalty for leaving warzones, or getting kicked due to afk, is reasonable. Because leaving doesn't just affect the leaver, it affects the leaved. (english ftw ). If you leave a warzone, you diminish your (former) team's chance of winning. That's not fair to them. in the cases where you are stuck with crappy people who dont listen, i would say 99% of the time they aren't listening because they aren't good, not that they hate winning warzones and want to troll you. They can't get better at warzones unless someone leads by example and demonstrates the importance of incs, communication, not needlessly filling the resolve bar. Quitting doesn't make anybody a better player.
  21. I have a 50 sorc and 50 mara, and one of the most annoying things is being mid ravage when a sorc pops his knockback and inadvertantly interrupts me, his (or her) TEAM mate. Being able to aim overload is going to reduce this problem. Another, less common issue, is when i use my AoE cc (dont remembe rwhat its called) and a sorc panics/doesn't realize what ive done, and breaks allll my cc. another problem is when a sorceror uses his knockback, which has neither the range, nor the distance knocked back, to be a good goalline defense tool (unless specced with bindings), and fills the targets resolve, negating my more effective force chock stun. (not saying force choke is perfect in this situation, but its better than resolve filling overload imo) Just some example from a not strictly sorceror perspective.
  22. Hi, so i play a carnage maradar on Droogba's Pleasure Barge. Basically, I want some more pvp dailies. Some Ideas: Dailies: 1mil damage/healing/protection in a day: 5k creds, 50 of each comm type capture 10 node/scores: 5k creds, 50 of each comm type Weeklies (that looks weird: 250,000 objective points :15k creds, 150 of each comm type Acheivements (came up with this idea as i was writing this thread): 500 career wins: 500 of each comms, 20k creds 10,000 total medals: 500 of each comms, 20 k creds Post ideas of your own and feedback, but please be respectful and for the love of god no QQ about the balance update
  23. I never got to try ilum before they effectively closed it, but I had some fun oPvp during the acquisition race. Im excited
  24. 1. Snipers, at least marksmanship snipers have some of the highest burst in the game. If a maradur is already being attacked by someone else, the burst from a sniper can wreck them before they pop camp or UR. As a marauder I steer clear of snipers in warzones because I have no way to get to them and stay on them. Also anytime a marauder combat stealthes he is not capping a node or dosing 2. Don't play pyro so idk 3. 1 tree, the heal tree, will have immunity to roots during force speed. That being said, I can see the desire for a stealth scan
