  1. So I came back last month from a 7 year break and just completed most of the story content that was added since the last time I played. I have really enjoyed it. But I haven't touched group flash points nor ops. Only real group content I've done is PvP and GSF which I've enjoyed. I know a lot of people hate on GSF but it reminds me of a (much more) simplistic version of SWG's space combat system, which I REALLY enjoyed. However I've nearly maxed out one of my ships which is crazy considering I've only been back for a month and haven't really been grinding GSF. It's obvious SWTOR is catering to filthy casuals (which I now identify as), so as veteran MMO players I can totally see why SWTOR is getting major flack with 7.0

Were you there for the CU , a few months before the NGE? On Bria server there was massive ingame protests at Theed and Coronet spaceports with hundreds of players spamming various profanities that basically said "NO CU (insert colorful language). To this day i've never seen anything like it but imbecile Smedley and co refused to listen and thus began the end for SWG which was still my favorite mmo of alltime. The jump to lightspeed xpac had the best space combat i've ever seen. Ah , the memories.

A fellow SWG player, such nostalgia talking about that game, it was my first real MMO. Started on Eclipse then when they merged servers ended up on Starsider (I think it was called?) Anyways I agree with how much of a disaster NGE was. I remember unlocking the village for Jedi grind, then took a several month break in the middle of it and came back to continue the grind and heard about the NGE coming, that was such a depressing moment haha.

  2.

That said, as a returning crafter, if you can craft old armors, especially from reverse engineering old PVP gear back in the day, you might quite literally have the license to print money. Uniforms, trenchcoats, republic superhero masks, a lot of old gear is no longer available, (or only as cartel market items).

Interesting... I just returned from a 7 year break and my main whom I am really only playing right now is Bioanalysis. BUT I do have a Synth and Armortech that (at the time were max level in crafting) should know various schematics. Guess I should check that out if they are actually worth credits. Are there any specific sets that sell especially well? I mainly PvP'd back in the day so I suspect I have a lot of the empire armor schematics for PvP.

  3. I strongly encourage downloading the free SWTOR security key app. I just returned last month from a 7 year break and my account was linked to the physical security key fob from the CE but the battery was dead and I had a heck of a time getting the account sorted. But now I have it linked to the SWTOR app.
  4. Don't feel too bad. The abundance of credits means it is easy to make credits too. Came in fresh, leveled Bioanalysis and have made a killing selling rank 8 mats. I hit a billion credits for the first time recently and have only been playing for a little less than a month.

I really only play my main now, I'm at a point in my life where I only have time to be a filthy casual :o

My main is however max Bioanalysis. I've just been farming Grade 11 mats with my crew missions, but would you say a different Grade is better as it relates to just flipping them on the GTN?

  5. Funny to see this thread. Last month I came back after taking a 7 year break. My main character had 10 million credits, to which I thought "oh wow I've got a decent chunk of change" I now know that would only buy me a cardboard box to live in, in the lower districts of Coruscant
  6. Appreciate the feedback!

Try for 322 then open the boxes. You should have enough currency from getting the boxes to upgrade the pieces from 324 to 326 right after getting them. Keep in mind though that you may want to get your set bonus implants first so that you don't waste a box on an implant you'll need to replace anyways.

I'm thinking getting 322 conquest and then opening PvP boxes is the way to go for the way I'm playing this game. I haven't really paid much attention to the different content currencies until now. But I've noticed that I have 0 Thyrsian, is that something you cannot start getting until level 80? I've done several PvP weeklies over the last couple of weeks but just hit 80 two days ago.

  7. Let me start off by saying, yes I know 7.0 gearing system is a major step back (in a lot of people's minds) and I've even been warned to not pick the game back up. BUT hear me out. I've taken a 7 year long break from the game, I'm a huge Star Wars nerd and I'm at a point in my life where I can no longer be a power gamer chasing min/max (thanks a lot married life any job responsibilities!) however I do enjoy the games story. I picked the game back up three weeks ago and finally got my original main character to 80. I've just been casually playing through story content and frankly I've really been enjoying myself so far.

Now that I'm at level 80 and have my 320 Conquest gear, I will be working on my implants and tactical. I'm trying to understand this gearing system. I do not plan on doing Operations and really I do not even know if I'll touch much group PvE content other than some flashpoints here and there. I am however really enjoying PvP and GSF (was super into the space combat of Star Wars Galaxies back in the day and GSF kind of reminds me of a watered down version of that) and also the expansion content. All of that being said my question is about gearing. I've got several PvP weekly boxes saved up. Now that I'm 320 conquest should I start cracking all of them open OR should I get 322 conquest and then crack open the PvP weekly boxes? Keep in mind, based on what I play I think I'll only really be able to get Conquest and PvP gear, with some Vet Flashpoint gear here and there.

  8. just coming back from a 7 year break and it seems I'm getting terrible FPS in PvP (in game shows RED fps numbers, so GPU?) I feel like my old rig 7 years ago ran PvP Warzones NO problem but for whatever reason my new rig is struggling. No idea why. I've experimented with shadows off, bloom off, etc and nothing seems to work. My current rig is a GTX 1080 (slightly overclocked) and an Intel Core i7 4790 3.60 GHz. Monitoring my core usage it seems like my last core (#3) is always at 85-99% usage while other cores remain fairly unused (like 10% or less).

Is there anything I can do?

  9. This is honestly a great idea. I just came back to this game from a 7 year break, and while I used to be a heavy PvPer, I'm now playing much more casually to enjoy the story of the game. I do still like to PvP but I solo que and going up against a premade is a bit annoying when you can only get credit for missions with wins. I know AFK players can be an issue so counting medals sounds like the best option IMO.
  10. If you play casual, then you can simply enjoy the DLCs you missed in the years, which is lot (not including 7.0 ;))

Don't worry about gears since the one given to you as you progress story will be enough.

Get a set of green 320 gears on Fleet Supplies area after you hit lv80 and you'll be good for doing solo stuffs and save you from the pain and frustration of 7.0 gearing, especially for solo players.

From what I've heard so far, PvP is broken, but I don't play it so I can't really comment.

Got it thanks. I've read a lot of guides/posts on Vulkk's website. Pretty much I'm just planning on playing a lot of the DLC content I've missed in the past ~7 years with a couple of buddies who haven't played for the same amount of time too. Open World, Flash Points, PvP. No Operations or super hard content.

As I understand it, there really isn't anything to be concerned with until around level 76 when you can start getting end game currencies (Medial of Commendations, Tech Fragments, etc), is that right? Or are there certain types of missions or content I should keep an eye out for that I'll be able to bank end game currency for? Basically if I could also kill two birds with one stone during leveling in preparation to getting to 80 that would be ideal. I'm currently sitting at level 65.

  11. To be frank? I wouldn't waste your time and money coming back to the game now. Legacy of the Sith isn't an expansion, it's a patch. It added ~3 hours worth of content. That's it. 7.0 also broke soooooo many things, the game is incredibly buggy, unfinished, and unpolished right now that I can't in good conscience advise that you come back to the game at this time. If you haven't put money into purchasing some game time yet? Don't.

I've read the comments & reviews over the past few days both on the forums and independent articles, etc. I completely understand where you're coming from too. The last MMO I played was Elder Scrolls Online (stopped about a year and a half ago) and open world PvP was an absolute disaster. So I do understand (and appreciate) the warning.

Having said that though, like I mentioned in my OP. I plan on playing super casually, I enjoyed the game (7+ years ago) for the story etc, which there is a lot of for me to do in the past 7+ years that I haven't played. Ultimately if I get through a lot of that content and decide that this is a dud, that's fine but the past several days I've enjoyed the game. The main purpose for the OP was more so just understanding the gear system right now and if there is anything I need to focus on / be concerned with while I'm playing and sub 80.

  12. Hey all, I was a Beta tester for this game, played extensively at launch and then probably haven't played for close to 7 years or so. I just resub'd this past weekend and am playing on my main which is currently a level 65 Marauder.

Anyways, my gear is very obviously out of date. It is good enough to get through most open world stuff, I'm currently playing through Knights of the Fallen Empire. I've been reading several posts on Vulkk's website and it seems like how you get gear has changed A LOT! Is it safe to assume I really shouldn't even worry about gear until I'm level 80? I used to be a hardcore MMO player, but I'm at a point in my life now where I fully plan on playing this casually - by that I mean no 8/16 man ops, but with the occasional flashpoint with a buddy of mine. I'll probably stick to a lot of solo content and pvp. That being said, once I get to 80 (or maybe before I get to 80?) what should I focus on to best potion myself to get gear? Based on this guide: https://vulkk.com/2022/02/17/swtor-7-0-endgame-gearing-guide-for-level-80/ It sounds like just doing GSF, PvP and Conquest would allow me to get "good enough" end game gear. Is that correct? Should I be doing anything prior to level 80 to "prepare" such as stock pile some sort of currency, etc?

    Appreciate any comments/tips!

  13. Since I've come back from a month and a half long break I can't find a stable very active PvP guild. I'm not necessarily looking for ranked PvP. However a bunch of competitive people that group up for PvP both world (outlaws den, etc) and WZ's.

I've bounced around a couple guilds since returning but there never seem to be very many people on when I'm on, which is typically week nights 7-10 CST. Currently only 5 people on in my guild and it's 2:30 on Sunday.. :(

Oh and I'm full WH Valor rank 95 on my main toon. Nearly full WH on my assassin.

  14. People of all religions and races play SWTOR. If they were to put in a christmas event, then they must put in ramadan and all the other religious events of the world. They theyll get sued for discrimination or something.

IF you read the OP it really doesn't have to do with Christmas or any sort o religion. Just asking to be able to wear different helms/masks under a hood.
