  1. Having read the notes on the changes coming to SW:TOR I can only conclude that Bioware is taking styling cues from WoW's Cataclysm. Examples: Dumbing down turning in of quest objectives, low level areas, ruining crafting, making all companions essentially the same. Once upon a time in WoW, if you were a hunter and you wanted a really good tank pet, you got a turtle. Care to guess why? If you wanted a good dps pet, you got a tiger or a raptor. Then WoW said "no, all these different "stat" things are too much for the console gamers to handle! We must make all pets the same!" Then came the specter of hunters using parrots and scorpids equally as tanks, or turtles being able to charge at the same speed as a raptor...and they all had exactly the same stats. Fast forward to this month, and Khem Val will be a compassionate healer but hey, you can always use your limp-wristed, 90 pound Imperial Reclamation Service officer as a tank instead. Makes perfect sense to Bioware, and I'm sure to all the cell phone gaming fan boys whol will be flaming me the instead they read this. Insta 60s, "level-syncing," and "streamlining" quest lines, insta-quest turn ins....it all points to the same thing. The end of SW:TOR as an immersive game. It was never all that hardcore, so these changes are, to say the least, pathetic for anyone who likes it to be at least a LITTLE complicated in order to lose themselves in the game. Once upon a time in WoW, you had to have wood and tinder to make a fire. If you were a hunter and you wanted to shoot your gun you had to make ammunition. You had to "waste" time actually returning to a quest giver to receive your reward. You had to adapt your pets or familiars to the fight or style of play. You had to actually plan your stats and abilities. Then they "updated" the game to "make things a more rewarding experience." And it all went away for the sake of getting rid of all the "unnecessary" things like titles, achievements, real crafting, etc. etc. ad nauseum. Sound familiar? Welcome to Cataclysm, Old Republic players. Enjoy your Mario Kart in space. Bioware has decided the FTP pre-teens had it too hard, so you get to play Jedis vs. Zombies instead. I've seen others complain similarly and been told to shut up and just go. Don't worry. We will. I left WoW after six years of absolutely loving the game because they took the game away. They're doing it now, and I'll do the same. Thanks for the fun, the good times and the inane fleet chat. I'll miss them all.
  2. [The issue behind the old concept of SW:TOR is that it is merely a clone of WoW. Bioware focused so much on copying achievements, copying raid difficulties and loot ideas that they completely lost track of the game they could have made. A game that delivers on the promise of story. That backfired, and now change is necessary.\ Except now they're doing to SW:TOR exactly what they did to WoW: they're dumbing it down and taking away as much variety and complexity as they can to appeal to simpletons.
  3. You can believe it. They pulled this nonsense with Cataclysm in WoW and after six years of LOVING that game far more than I like this one I quit and never went back.
  4. Congratulations. You're the eight year-old cell phone gamer they were aiming the changes for.
  5. Never said there were NO bugs. I said "world design." Do you only speak fanboi, or did you learn actual English at some point?
  6. You can't be rebutted, because like all fanbois, the object of your fanboi lovin' can't be in any flawed or you take it personally. No matter what I say, you won't agree. By the way, you never actually addressed what I said; you just went off on another game. How very Obama voter of you. Flame away. Don't care.
  7. Played all the Elder Scrolls games. Never had an issue with world design. But this game, on the other hand, while it's nice, has a LOT of bugs that have never been fixed and some of the laziest theme park ride funneling even in "open world" quests that I've seen since WoW went Cata. But hey, your fantasy land of magical perfect SWTOR is not to be criticized. We get it.
  8. I knew f2p was eventually going to turn out like this. Pre-ordered the CE, paid my 15 bucks a month, looked forward to updates, etc. Then this new one came up. Gee! Wow! Appearance changer! New race! Yay! Log in to the game and all the great new things are locked...unless I want to pay out even more money. Subscribing was supposed to give you benefits; now it just gives you the "privilege" of not having to put up with all kinds of restrictions while playing the BASIC game. You want all the new "features" they brag about in the upcoming "updates" well you'd better open your wallet or wait a month or two for your monthly Cartel Coin allotment, which incidentally seems calculated to leave you just short of most of the good stuff. If EA or whoever wants to nickel and dime us to death, they can try, but it's going to make the fun wear off that much quicker. And there are shiny new toys coming out like Elder Scrolls Online..........
