Same here. Game ran once the first time I tried to play, got to character select screen and all characters were "unavailable" due to planet data needing to be downloaded. Never mind that it was all fine a couple of hours ago. Progress of planet data 0/0 and no movement. I exited and restarted the launcher, and now the game simply closes when I press "play". Why am I subscribed again?

Please do this, either as a subscriber perk or an unlock on the cartel market. I have very limited play time and have no desire to waste it doing the relatively pointless and grindy side quests. I want the "4th pillar", and that means the story quest. Being able to level solely via the class quests made SWTOR fun for me. I came back for that. Now that it's gone, I'll be leaving again.

Players aren't really intended to grind out full sets of crafted purple gear during the leveling process, it's a waste of time. In the time it takes you to do all that you could level to the point of wearing greens that are more effective. Now, when you're level 50, yeah, spending time on that will be worthwhile, or when lots of people have level 50s and want to twink out their new alts in purple gear, it'll be worth the trouble. But while leveling? Getting the occasional purple item while leveling is just a cool bonus and should be seen as such.

The question nobody has asked though is "was the gear the marauder rolled on orange (custom)?" If it was, I'd call rolling a little crass if there was an Agent that could have used the item directly, though less so if he gave the cunning mod to the Agent after removing it. If it wasn't an orange item though, the guy was an idiot.

In a game with hundreds of thousands of players there will be, statistically speaking, a handful of people who get bad results every time regardless of what the actual chances of a bad result are. Today, one of those people is you.

1. The starter planets aren't for crafting. You can't craft until level 10, and if you're going back to the starter planets you're being lazy. Continue on to the 2nd planet like you're supposed to. There are tons of quests for you there, and tons of nodes with the materials you need. 2. I leveled Armormech to 40+ using nothing but Desh and Silica. Not sure what your problem is.
