  1. Please email all your stuff to donletthedoorhityouintheassonthewayout on Krayt Dragon server.
  2. Right, SWTOR. I deliberately left out the words Star Wars, until I was talking about a different game and only referenced SWTOR when making short and to the point comparisons to identify what I was talking about. What I did not do was gush about a game because of it's name and content to differentiate between a rational poster, and a "fanboy". Thanks for your helpful, useful comment though.
  3. Yes I popped into the forums on a whim to see if there were patch notes, and started reading. I was inspired and spent my lunch typing a post to share something contrary to all of the negative nancies. The game is not perfect, but there is a LOT of good. That was the point of my post. It was aimed at the guys crying about having nothing to do. I'm not sure how sharing my opinion from a "glass half full" point of view is a fail though. I agree with some of your points. You made a lot of suggestions on how to make the game better. I touched on your point about crafting and agree it can be improved. The SWG crafting and player houses were a fantastic element and I would love to see them here. Prime real estate outside major cities was a cool idea. I would love it if they dropped a few new space ports/cities like Mos Isla on Tat and allowed for us to build houses in and around it. Or any where for that matter. Great idea. I don't have time to respond to all of your points, but all I can say is we can all stand around and point our fingers at what we feel are things done wrong. But how many of us actually take the time to stand back and appreciate what is done right?
  4. You are obviously only concerned with endgame. Why bother playing the game at all? You can just respond to one of the credit farmers and go buy a level 50 toon and do your "end game". I don't want to presume any thing, but did you actually watch the dialogue scenes? Did you take time to follow the plots of the planet quests you plowed through on your dash to the 50 end game? A month into the game I turned 50 and you remark on it like it is a bad thing. Like you have been 50 for so long who am I to talk about the game at that level. Every game has endgame issues. The only answer is to keep adding more expansions, and more expansions, and more expansions. And when you have run out of things to add, and raised the level cap to god like proportions where you can no longer present a challenge to all the end gamers, drop a cataclysm on the world and start over. If your only goal is to race to 50 and say "what next" than I doubt any MMO will satisfy you at launch. I suggest you wait a year before starting any new release MMO. But even then, you will no doubt burn through the "end game content" and whine about being bored.
  5. I hear what you are saying, but I am now enjoying the challenges of playing a very different class, and playing through the dialogue scenes. I agree, there could be more for guys who are 50. But there is so very much for me already. How can I complain? But if I am not looking at it as an "I'm 50 now what" point of view, and look at it instead as a "Bang for the Buck" point of view, this game is a win. I don't think I have logged 200 hours total in the last 6 Xbox 360 games I have bought. I got that in a month of TOR, and enjoyed every minute of it. If you are 50, focus your attention on collecting rare schematics and crafting top quality items. Etc etc.
  6. If you thought this was a review, you are blind, brah.
  7. I just popped into the forums for some lunch time reading and found post after post of people whining about the game. "I'm 42 and I'm bored blah blah." "Swtor is failing..." Come on. I just wanted to share my experience in retort to what I am seeing. I hit 50 with my main character, a sniper, this week after taking my sweet time doing it. Honestly it is too easy and the XP should be cut in half. But that is not a gripe or complaint. I just wish it took longer so I could actually use some of the mid level stuff I worked hard to get. But the point is that at no time during my leveling to 50 did I say to myself "I'm Bored". The class quest is interesting and rich. I really enjoyed watching my character respond to the circumstances he was presented with. I liked the quips and replies, and the personality they wrote into the script. The plot scenes are entertaining and well animated. Some one whined about other classes plots being too similar to his first and that the game has no replay value. Well I think it would be interesting to see how other classes deal with the same story arch and am looking forward to playing through on my Sorcerer and BH. But of course they are similar. The story is happening, and each individual class has their unique role in it which takes them through each of the planets. I think the way the developers instituted this progressive story arch is outstanding. There is more to do than just quest! Flashpoints: There are a lot of them, each presenting their own bit of story line. Black Talon for example allows players to execute the captain. The reaction of the bridge crew is priceless. That stuff entertains me. Plus, there are more than I have had the chance to do yet, plus only one month into the game the developers added free content and a new flashpoint! Some of you guys will say that the new FP should have been included in launch. Well, whatever. I have at least a week of /played time on my main toon. Between that and my alts it is easily over 200 hours of playing time in a month. Not since the original NES and Super Mario Brothers, and then the original EQ have I logged so many hours on a game. There was plenty to do at launch. Any thing added after that is just bonus, and much appreciated free content. Thank you Bioware. I look forward to running the rest of the FPs, the new FPs as they are added, and discovering what nice surprises they present. Warzones: Some of you hate PVP. Why? Because it is hard. You are up against a dude who plays 10 hours a day, and kicks your butt all over the place and laughs at you while doing it. Well, I find this a challenge that I am willing to take on. Sure it is a struggle for me to compete, I am traditionally a casual quester. But I have grabbed PVP by the horns and am doing my best. Sometimes I get frustrated with it, but most of the time I have fun, and yes, there are times when I beat some one down. In fact it is happening more often the more I play. Granted the three existing warzones have their flaws. But I find all three of them fun and exciting and worth the drawbacks they are hindered by. When I am tired of questing, I jump into warzones, when I am tired of that, I go back to questing. Open World PVP: If you like warzones, there is open world PVP. Yes, the current zone, Ilum is not a great system. I accept that as a knock against a stellar game. But I accept it and move on. I still go there and attempt to get kills and scrounge up crates. Sometimes it is fun. I have faith that as the game evolves, so will places like Ilum. Questing: I know, I said there is more to do than just quest. But SWTOR leaves nothing to be desired in the quest department. Each planet presents it's own story line and group of linked quests. There is more than enough for even the most diligent of questers to do. In fact, you will likely find yourself abandoning as many quests as you finish simply because you out level them and they are grey. Again, too much xp too fast. They could cut it in half and I would be happy. Crafting: The developers have gifted us a dynamic crafting utility where our fortunes are OURS to make. Need money for training? You can do one of two things. Whine about it, or pick up a crafting skill and make it. You can either get three harvesting skills and simply harvest and sell materials and make a fortune, or do it the harder way and invest time in perfecting your craft and sell the items you make on the market. The game lacks the unique craftability that was available in Star Wars Galaxies, where based on unique and rare materials that spawned for brief periods of time, some crafters were able to create indeed unique items that no one else could make. I miss that. In SWTOR every cybertech could potentially craft the same collection of top level items. But there is simply so much to craft and master, and it takes so long to get the stuff and do it, that it will be a long time before the markets become flooded with 98 guys making the same level 49 advanced purple armor mod. Enjoy it. You can take different strategies. Go the low level route, collect lots of cheap and easy to get low level materials, and craft hundreds of cheap low level items and sell them like Wal-Mart, or go the high end route and only craft top level advanced products and sell them for a mint. Make a name for yourself. My toon's name is spreading by word of mouth. People email me to make them stuff because they were referred by another character thanks to my great customer service. Each of your toons can have their own crafting abilities, and if you were so inclined you could create your own crafting dynasty and rival Donal Trump with your billions of credits. (Yes, some guys play this game only to do just that.) Crafting and making money is like a game in itself. Hunt for rare items: Datacrons. Every planet has them. Little easter egg nuggets of stat boosting fun that you have to hunt for. The higher level the planet, the harder they are to get. Tatooine for example has a pair of them that require you to wait for a balloon that loops the zone, jump on, and jump off at the right time. Other zones have similar things. These give us something to do. Some of the "quests" to get these datacrons are so encompassing that it requires well practiced groups to do. If you are bored, get a group of friends together and figure out how to get the +10 all stats datacron off the Imperial Fleet. That alone will offer you hours of play time, and give you a nice reward at the end. That is what MMOs are all about! Operations: If you are part of a guild, you and your friends have the option of taking on Operations, or Raids. These are harder than your normal Flashpoint and require a well oiled group doing their jobs to the best of their ability to succeed. It is rewarding for teams of players to work hard and finally succeed at beating an operation. Both in the loot and the feeling of accomplishment you get. Any way, one thing I can absolutely say about SWTOR is that it is NOT boring. If any thing, it is overkill. I need to make a plan before I log in on what I hope to accomplish. I find myself slipping into my mancave in the mornings before work to put my toons on task. I have so many things I want to accomplish on my main toon that I simply don't have enough hours. Let alone doing those things on my alts. Datacrons for example. I have only managed to gather up 3 or 4 planets worth, simply because they are a low priority luxury. I have so many other more important things I want to do that I can't find time to get them. This is a good thing. If you are telling people you are bored with the game, and you have not taken the time to explore this list of just some of the things you can do, than you are doing yourself a disservice. People love to drop the Fanboy moniker on guys who write stuff supporting this game. Well, if you will notice I don't even refer to this game as being Star Wars until just now, with the exception of my referring to SWG. It is not about being a Star Wars fan, which I am, as are 99 percent of you reading this. It is about appreciating a rich and diverse game that tailors to all sorts of players. The PVPers, the PVEers, and the Crafters. And it does it well. Jawaballs
