  1. I really wouldn't invest much further in upgrades with that CPU. Core 2's are still fairly decent CPU's, but not running at 2.13ghz. You really need 3ghz or more on a dual core chip for it to not be a bottleneck in this game. The video card and RAM upgrades were good choices, and you actually did a pretty good job in terms of upgrading them as best you could w/o wasting money compared to the rest of your system. What I mean is that your system is fairly well matched right now in terms of CPU/RAM/Video performance for this game. The CPU is probably still a slight bottleneck, but not so much so to make either of the other upgrades unworthwhile. (Like spending $500 on a video card with that CPU would have been) Jumping to Win7 x64 would be a slight gain, but if you're seeing 3.5GB RAM in windows now it's probably not really worth it. (x64 will use 500MB or so more than 32bit) If you were seeing 3GB or less (I actually had an old system that only say 2.75GB for instance) then I would say do it for sure, but seeing 3.5GB it's really up to personal preference. on your part. If you are comfortable trying to do so, overclocking your CPU would be a good way to get some extra performance though, and the Core2 CPU's are normally very good overclockers. I'd have to know your exact CPU model number to say for sure, but 2.6-2.8 is almost certainly fairly easily achievable, and you could actually make it to 3.2 or more if you have the right model.
  2. FYI doing so only removes the 8k credits cost of the speeder itself, not the 40k credits cost of the skill to use it. So you'll basically be paying $20 to save yourself 20% on your 1st speeder. (the 2nd costs 210k/25k btw, and the 3rd is even more) If you want to upgrade for the other sutff it gives, or if you actually like the look of the speeder, then go for it. But don't bother just for the cost savings getting it. It's totally not worth it at all. (8k is about the cost of 1 skill at the level you are able to use the speeder)
  3. The companion levels are an annoyance for sure, the JK/SW seem like the only classes that get their second companion early enough. The rest are way too late. Bit I don't think that is the major issue that causes this, just a small extra annoyance. I think that if you earned talent point from 1-10, even though you can't spend them yet, it would make the teens-20's must more fun because you'd have access to many of your more fun abilities sooner. Or a re-work of the trees flipping things around so you just get fun stuff in the 1st two tiers instead of random extra buffs. But I really didn't make this to complain about things Bioware should change, I'd really like to figure out how to have the game be more enjoyable how it is now.
  4. I think the playing alone thing is a large part for sure. I had a guild all set to go on launch, had time taken off work etc. But then they opened early access two days early before i had scheduled time off, so my guild got ahead. And then I got bored with that toon and started over several times. My last new MMO I played (Rift), I didn't go in with a pre-made leveling group, but fairly early on I met someone else leveling and we literally duo'd 48 hours straight from the mid teens till 40 before either one of us slept. And that totally eliminated the sense of grind I normally get with leveling. I just haven't run across that in this game unfortunately, and I do think it plays a big part.
  5. I actually hate alts for the most part though. And once I've swapped to a new toon I haven't even touched the old one again. I really am just completely tired of playing it. :\ & Leveling is usually my least favorite part of a game also. I almost feel like Chapter 1 is just too long? Like if Chapter 1 finished after Nar Shaddaa I wouldn't feel nearly as burnt out? Like I'm making more progress or something. After my Commando I thought it was cause I was leveling Biochem and always broke, but I took slicing on the Shadow and have plenty of credits now, so I know it's not that. It almost feels like my 'You should be hitting the last push of the level grind' alarm is going off in my head based off how long, and how many different places I've been to. Coming from MMO's in the past. But then I look up and instead of seeing Lvl40 - time for the final push, I see Lvl25 - is this really all the farther I am? And just start to crash. I really liked the space combat missions, but then I found that the new ones I'm getting now are just copies of the old ones, but with shields on the fighters now, and that totally killed my desire to try and unlock more of those. :\ IDK really, but it's quite frustrating, because I really do want to love this game. And for a while after making a character I really do.
  6. So I've tried three different classes so far at least partway through chapter 1, and a 4th through the 1st part of Coruscant. Scoundrel (late teens), Sentinel (early teens), Commando (late 20's), Shadow (early 30's). But each time it's the same thing, combat on the class starts to feel stale, and then it's downhill from there. I'm not trying to come and rant about the game sucks or anything like that, I'm just trying to figure out how to get around this. I guess it feels like so many of the skills are either unused completely, or don't gain use until you are close to the top of your skill tree, that there's just no variety in terms of what you use most of the time. Even with my shadow into the 30's, I still don't have what I need to make my main rotation worthwhile. (It comes at 40) Also combat just feels... slow. I don't mean the length of the fights, but you're physical actions. I'm not sure what class has the most abilities outside the 1.5s gcd, that might have something to do with why I feel like it's the same couple skills? I come from EQ2 if it has any effect on possible suggestions. There I played an Illusionist, which is basically a crazy fast rapid fire mage with like a .3s gcd & spell cast times between .5-1s. And a Fury, which was a fairly offensive healer that again uses lots of rapid .5-1s cast time heals mostly. I really wanted to avoid Sage/Sorc because that's what the games going to be basically flooded with, but I'm really having trouble keeping interest in anything. I'm looking at maybe a Sniper, because at this point the Republic story is getting quite old, but starting something new is so depressing because none of the early talents are really much fun on any class it seems. (Actually even made it on a PvP server, even though I've never been a huge PvPer just to try to change it up) Anyways, anyone happen to have any advice for how to avoid this fate once again? Re-rolling repeatedly is really starting to suck. (Also considering trying to follow the story more for the Sniper cause I heard the IA one is supposed to be really good, but not sure how long I'll be able to stick with that either) Again, not a rant, just looking for ideas. Thanks
  7. I'd actually say the main issue with crafting is that the exchange search options are so awful that it's faster to wait till you get your next upgrade than to find what you're looking for on the exchange. Seriously, why can't I search for armor by slot? And why can't I search for items that have +aim, or + absorption, or that are light-side/dark-side? Why can't we search for blue/orange items separately? And why if I wan't to sell something can't I just type the name right away to check it's price? (Or better yet be able to something-click it to auto search the broker the same item?) I'd kill for a list at "x" $/% under current lowest button, but I realize that's probably just dreaming. The rest however are usually standard options, and would go a long way toward making crafting much more viable.
  8. The thing is, in most games I actually like these jumping games. I've always been very good at jumping to funny places, getting out of the world, and so forth in the past. It is literally just this game that I have a problem with it in. If they can get jump to work correctly then by all means leave them where they are, make them crazier even. But if jump is going to continue to be this messed up whenever you are trying to jump from a standing still position (it works perfectly fine if you can be running into it) then that needs to be taken into account with the holocron placements. Making sure that you have enough room to get a little running start would be a decent compromise if they can't get jump working better but still want to involve it in getting them. About 3-4 feet is all you need and it works fine. It's just the standing still jumps that are so messed up. I should note that I fall under the small female toon catagory also
  9. Not sure if you guys are looking for orange or not, but someone mentioned it earlier. I actually ripped an orange crystal out of (I believe it was) a saber I got either as a mission reward, or as a random drop, on Coruscant. But you shuld be able to rip them out of the many blasters you can buy w/commendations as well. Orange is a very common color for them it seems. I really want a Silver/White White/Black, or Black/Black though... :\ It would also be pretty ****** it there was a Red/Blue or Blue/Red that was only equipable if you were neutral. (Semi OT, but I'd kill for the ability to make each end of my saber-staff a different color. Red @ one end, Blue @ the other would look sick. As would Silver/White with Black/Black)
  10. It all comes down to the way you have to time your jumps when you're right on the edge that screws it up & makes it so frustratingly hard at times. Ever other game you hit 'W' to run forward and then jump, or can jump and then hit 'W' to start moving that direction in midair. In SWTOR, you have to hit jump, and then within the 1/4 second or so before you actually start to jump hit 'W' to make your jump go forward. Too soon, and you'll run off the ledge. Too late, and you'll, if you're lucky jump straight up and land where you were to try again, if you're unlucky jump with a very small amount of forward momentum and fall short. That timing it just too tight, nearly anything can throw it off. The net lagged and extra 50ms, too bad the timing didn't register and you ran off the edge, go back to the beginning and start over. Don't you dare get a new keyboard! I just got a new, very high quality mechanical, keyboard for Christmas and even though it's actually got way better keys than my old one, it's still taking me several days to adjust to the slightly different timing required for jumping compared to my old one. That's just way too small a margin for error for something you have to execute a dozen times or more in a row perfectly. One small miss of less than 1/10th of a second after 11 correct jumps and you're back to the beginning. (After having to run halfway across the map at times through a bunch of enemies just to get to the start again) Very, very, frustrating. And not at all fun. (Which is supposed to be the point, is it not?)
  11. You can also get orange fairly easily by ripping it out of one of the many commendation bought mod-able blasters that come with orange crystals in them. So Green, Blue, Red, Yellow, & Orange, (& Black/Yellow if you pre-ordered), are the colors you can fairly easily come across. I've heard people say empire PvP weapons have Purple, but no idea if they can be ripped out and sold or not. I personally want a Silver or Black, (Black/Black would be neat too maybe) but no clue when/if they'll be available.
  12. It has nothing to do with remembering. It's nothing more than having a new mouse, and the right click being extremely sensitive, to the point where it clicks when you're mousing over stuff at times. Turning of 1 click buy is something nearly every game has, it's not a crazy thing to ask for. (or the ability to re-sell for what you payed before exiting the vendor would work as well, but would be more work to implement I think)
  13. The problem is, the games registration of jumping (especially when you are right next to a ledge) is VERY bad. You frequently hit jump, but then end up running off the edge of the object instead. I've never seen another MMO with such bad jump detection, especially one that forces you to jump so much. Some of the holocron locations are almost game-breakingly bad when it comes to how much you have to re-do if the game decides to not register that last jump and force you to start over. Several times I've had to quit before throwing my keyboard through the monitor because of the stupidity of it. It's very, very bad. Fix the jump mechanic and it's fine, as is now it's extremely frustrating. (And no it's not my system lagging or a crappy keyboard
