  1. Only rifle attack is considered to have 90% accuracy baseline. Rest is 100%, but white attacks also do a roll check against defense rating on bosses. To counter this you should have 8% accuracy to get 108%

Lately I have seen some people saying they have missed on special attacks even with 109% accuracy. Myself included have missed on specials with 108% on certain fights, so i find that weird. Some bosses might be different maybe.

But rifle attack, or the basic attack that does not cost is the only one considered to have 90% accuracy

  2. The moment a competent scoundrel/commando enters a warzone your entire spec is shut down and all you do is waste 20 energy for 300-600 dmg. Do as I do and try 0/18/23 and enjoy it while bads are bad.

This is what i do too, and what I would suggest. I'm worried about rated BGs though. We'll see I guess!

  3. As a fresh 50 your damage will be pretty awful regardless of spec. I would recommend starting off as lethality (2/18/21 as personal preference) which will allow you to at least be useful through rolling dots on everything and keeping people from capping on voidstar/alderaan. Plus it will make it easier for you to get that 300k medal for more commendations.

I feel that at the higher gear levels marksman spec is they way to go, as the burst you're able to set up can be quite sick (unless sorcs loldeflect half your shots while casting, but that's a seperate issue) and it's the spec I play with when running premades to great effect.

At this point for me (640 expertise + couple BM pieces), lethality is the spec I play around with when I solo queue and feel like seeing some big orbital crits.

This. Pretty much the same here. I do way more damage (due to dots and aoe) with hybrid lethality/engineer for 30% aoe crit. Those grenades combined with OS hurts.

Marksman tears clothies apart though! Too bad about the 10% defense on the most played classes. I generally feel lethality works best due to it *********** up capping, and beeing annoying as hell.

  4. I have huge problems myself to be honest. As lethality, they can pop evasion (which removes all harmful effects) and neglect all my damage. They can also use a 5 sec CD to remove dots. I just feel that i need to run away.

I usually pop my escape asap after the opener and pop cover and KB them away. You can use entrench too and at least try and do damage. Now you can try and get an ambush and probe in, but they will most likely just evade it...

You can leg shot and try again, or try and dot them up (if lethality) and stun + cull.

As marksman you could at least try and kite them a bit with leg shot, flash bang + get range, KB, and leg shot again..

I really can't see any sure ways to beat them. I never really beat a good Operative and assassin. ****** ones i just make them use evasion, dot up and kite around.

  5. They did that because their engine can't handle more than 10 people on the screen at the same time.

during the beta, i'm pretty sure the servers were alot heavier populated. Atleast each zone had huge ammounts of people in them before they got instanced. Dromund kaas was buzzing, but during launch now there were 1/5th of the same population.

I hope they can increase the ammount of people that it can handle.

  6. Glass half empty?

I have fond memories of that time, moreso because everyone was exploring their classes and had little idea of item sets, stats and overpowered talents. People were playing for fun and albeit it lag and zergfests it still rocked!

The battlegrounds and arenas had scope but they ruined world pvp. Playing other titles before wow like UO the hard part was being the tough open world where you could get attacked and lose your items. MMO's these days lose that ruthless edge.

Thats the thing though. Now you find so much info on the internet before you play the game, and exploring it isnt any fun because the information is so easily obtainable anyway (so everyone else have done it when you finally discover it).

The old and good might never work again. Unless they make a huge game with an enormous playerbase on the same server which can keep things alive and kicking!

  7. It's more like it was fun because the time was right for it. WoW brought MMOs to the masses, and people felt that it was all new and wanted to explore it. They were happy doing Scholomance or LBRS for a small upgrade of blue armor. It was awesome.

This recipe would not work anymore. People want their gear fast, and small upgrades just won't cut it. There is nothing to do on the planets, and if there are many people, it gets instanced. Add to that, the view distance is horrible. Caps out at 100 meters for players.

In a way it's cool since I don't need to spend as much time on the game, but I also want my recreational time to be in a MMO. Too bad there is little to do in this game and no exploring to be done. The exploring part losing its value could be due to the internet giving information so easy that nothing feels magical anymore though.

  8. you begin the argument where you are at a disadvantage already (5% commission compared to my 50%) as where i think we're on equal grounds. if you assume you are already at a disadvantage then prove that you are at an disadvantage is called a fallacy.

edit: if you add in pound for pound in just dps, i assure you a sniper will out dps a sorc/sage if both of the players are just attacking each other. so yes you already have a dps advantage

Don't forget your free 10% defense chance as a inquisitor! All other classes have 5% baseline, except inquisitors and consulars! Makes me have a 5-4% chance to miss all my white attacks unless i stack accuracy up to 10%. Sweet RNG!

I guess its fair, since you have to do that too. NOPE! Force abilities! Gotta love seeing my root getting deflected even if i am "hit capped" against dps classes (except inquisitors). It would be fine against a tank spec, but NOT against a sorcerer with active defensive abilities.

  9. snipers/gunslingers and commandos both have a shield that reduces damage by 20% for 15s for sniper/gunslinger on top of that it's for the entire team that stays in it. commando/merc have a personal 20% damage reduction cd for 12s. that is their oh crap button. every class has some sort of a massive defensive cd they can use, except for sorcerers. which is why we have more utility to escape.

Lol @ Massive defensive cd. Ballistic shield is a bit useful, but its so static, and it is certainly not massive. I'd rather have something like marauders have. The shield is also on a 3 min cd.

For snipers evasion should be a defensive cd, but almost no classes use white damage, so it kinda sucks.. Except for operatives it also removes all harmful effects... Which i think is a bit unfair :D

  10. Snipers / GS are good in my opinion. But i really dislike having almost pure white damage as a MM spec atleast. Leth is better, but still has white damage outside the DoTs. This makes the game have so much RNG for me. Especially against inquisitors who have a baseline 10% defense chance compared to 5% to all other classes who are not tank specced.

Deflecting roots(leg shot) or ambush sucks really bad... :p

  11.

All bosses have an inherent 8% defense chance. So you need 8% accuracy even for your specials to hit 100% of the time in PvE.

    .

I've seen people say this all the time, but there might be a "bug" somewhere, or something that someone missed. I was at the Sorno fight in KP, and im sitting at 108,2 accuracy for specials, and yet my FT missed (rifle attacks too, but those have only 98% acc). So maybe some bosses have more defense, but I dunno. It sucks either way! Should have frapsed it to check it. It happened around 2-3 times that i noticed during the fight which was pretty hectic anyway.

  12. Evasion on operative is cheese - removes all hostile removable effects.

Evasion on sniper? Turn it on if you see big red bullseye above your head (enemy ambush). Turn it on when jumped by melee, if you are lucky he will miss ravage or some white rage generator strikes.

    That's it.

This. And wow, i thought you had to go for some deep talents to remove dots as an operative? Don't they use a cleanse ability to do that? Or can they use both? Anyway, operatives eat me for breakfast if they got some skill at all. Too much stuff to counter me

  13. I find our talent tree a bit lacking. I would like snipers to get the same as other classes on the crit talents for example. We have a 5 point talent that gives 30% surge on 3 abilities. Other classes either pay 2 or 3 points for the same, and some even have it counting to all their force attacks. Others have 5 points too, but then its 50% crit and not 30%.

I would also like root to be fixed in cover

Maybe give us more tech attacks or reduce the extra 5% dodge/block (defense chance) that ALL inquisitors have. They all have 10% defense chance passivly, while others have 5% (unless tank). This just adds a stupid RNG for them to dodge or block my attacks.

  14. I just find it weird that other classes pay downwards of 2 points for the same talent that Imperial Assassin is. Firebug for example.

    http://www.torhead.com/ability/x209ZN/firebug

Or 3 points for all force attacks in rage spec?

Or 3 points in madness for 30%

Sorc lightning gives a 5 point talent though, but it is 50% more damage on crits on limited abilities, opposed to ours 30.

Should make ours 50% too, or make it 3 point with some optional talents, but I guess thats for a future patch.

Any thoughts on this? It just seems so weird to make ours the only one that is different.

  15. All non tank specs have 5% "dodge" or defense. Except inquisitors... ofcourse... They have 10%. So against inquisitors you have a 5% RNG for them to dodge your ****, unless you stack even more accuracy..

I dont know why they have more than anyone.

For PvE 8% seems to be the best way to go.

  16. I've had a couple of Hutballs over 700k myself, again it is more about luck than anything.

Yeah, I agree. Beeing where the action is, AoE and not dying (or beeing lucky with the doors opening) and of course not beeing focused.
