  1. Fair enough, then. Good to know that tooltip is fully broken. My bad again for using a blanket "max anything" statement. I was discounting BLCs as they are situational by the RTT, and looking just at the other options with no range dependence. It's still of a tough bill for close range BLCs to make it through completely maxed evasion, but at least something can get through in that instance with maxed accuracy. However, it'd be better just to wait out the DF pop.
  2. Distortion Field's only a 65% modifier. Unless the tooltip is different from anything else and doesn't update to reflect upgrades. Which judging that it says "for 3 seconds" with the duration extension selected, I'd guess that's the case. But yeah, I guess there are some other component parts if you want to push evasion up further. Targeting telemetry is... questionable when you're taking an 8% evasion boost over a 5% evasion drop for all enemies in the area, since you're popping it to boost accuracy. Then again, since the dispel radius is 3000m, it's also not useful most of the time except against a single target. Copilot ability is iffy, though with the Bypass nerf incoming.... But yeah, I did say max, and that is definitely maxing evasion. Also, looking at it, HLCs aren't available on anything that has access to Targeting Telemetry (System is scout only). So it looks like the max you can push accuracy to on anything is 126%. Which is even worse with the above-mentioned ultima-evasion build. Nothing breaks through that, except MAYBE close-range bursts with accuracy buffs. And that's still not even going to hit 50% after the math.
  3. Disclaimer: This is my observational opinion based on all the GSF matches I've flown. I'd love to see a dev post, too, even if it said I was completely off my nut. Accuracy works like this. It's the modifier based on a properly lined up shot. If you have 100% accuracy, every properly lined up shot hits against the target. Evasion counters this. Say you're firing at a scout running a base evasion of 41% (evasion build). This means that your accuracy has dropped to 59%. A little more than half of your properly lined up shots will hit against the target. Where it really starts to get noticeable is above the 100% mark. The max evasion that a ship can push is 106% for 6 seconds with Distortion Field. The max native accuracy a ship can have is 106%. This effectively reduces firing accuracy to 0%. You're not hitting any shot. To completely get through it, you would have to push accuracy to 206%, which isn't possible. Numbers aren't at the top of my head without logging in, but I think the max you can push accuracy is 156%... minus the 106% evasion with DF popped, your accuracy is a whopping 50%. Half of your properly lined shots hit. The other noticeable time is when you're running anything less than 100% accuracy against anything, which is by the same token as above. Even if you properly line up your shot, you might not hit what you're aiming at. Operating on the same FotM scenario, a Flashfire/Sting running with Burst Cannons has a max native accuracy of 93% (iirc). Against another scout with evasion build, that native accuracy drops to 52%. About half your lined shots hit. It's worth saying, as well. If your shot isn't properly lined up against your target, it doesn't matter how much accuracy you have. You could be running with 1000% accuracy. You still aren't going to hit squat.
  4. You know what, I'm not even going to argue build. I haven't put the numbers into practice, so I can't back it up. I'll just say this, I think you're seriously underestimating just how far you can push accuracy. And that's just an alternate build... you build for that rather than evasion, and you drop the Bypass (which is getting nerfed anyway) for Wingman. Or the other one that drops the target's evasion. "In Your Sights", I think it was. I'll wait until I can actually put it into effect to say anything else on the matter. Taking it to the general GSF community? You know as well as I do what the response is going to be, "Hurr hur hurr gimped to FotM durr durr durr". With nothing solid to back that up, either. As for the training wheels bit, you're welcome to your opinion. You think a suicide run at something with BLCs is a valid tactic? Sure, I'll take that kill. I'll take that kill on my Quarrel, too, which I've also taken into sat chases more than a few times and gotten kills off of blasters. Know why? Because I outmaneuver people. I don't fly the same tired circle with the occasional up-and-over from top to bottom gunship avoidance tactic. So if you think I'm just relying on a crutch for my style of flying, go right ahead. I'll take that kill when I pop up on your six after you thought you were going to finally get me in your sights around the next bend. In my Flash, in my Dive, in my Pike, or in my Comet.
  5. At least most of the time, when I sneak up on you, I just smack, I don't torpedo. XD
  6. You asked if there's a build that can stand up. I'm saying there is. Something that does break through the high evasion. Obviously, not fully, because you can only buff accuracy so high, but it will get through. That's why you have multiple ships in the hanger at your disposal. You get a few up maxed, loaded out to counter the biggest threat out there. Lots of scouts? Break out the ion-loaded gunship. Or something with a ton of accuracy to compensate. And I'm trying to level my SFs and my Nova, thank you. People just keep pissing me off to the point that I say eff it and break out my Flashfire because I'm seething over complete cheese tactics. And no, I'm not talking someone flying a fellow FotM scout eff-em-up build. I can be on the receiving end of that for a while, it's cool.
  7. Right off the top of my head, anything with Targeting Telemetry/Accuracy builds, gunship 1-shots. Even the T1 fighters running Ion/Heavy Blasters can compete with the Flash/Sting. The major thing about Flash/Sting fighting is getting the drop on them. Usually, we're hard charging and have too much of a fix on our fore to keep an eye out elsewhere (Jinks taking screenshots of her 6 being an exception... wait, that sounded hotter than I intended). If you try to take them head on to start out, you're gonna have a bad time.
  8. I keep telling myself that when it's all I can do trying to evade missile locks.
  9. I've actually tuned my Flashfire down a little in terms of handling (still flying with BLCs, BO, and DF). I've put it into full turn bonus spec. Let me tell you, the handling on that thing is like a Tokyo Drift in space. I'm sure once I get a handle for it, it's going to devastating, but right now it's all I can do to not smack my ship into things. Open space, watch out, but I definitely have to relearn my sat chasing.
  10. Yeah, they exist both sides. My part, if you don't want me "spawn-camping", don't run back to your capital ship (you in the general sense, not you specifically as an accusation), another one of those generally regarded cheese tactics. That's about the only time I even come close to the enemy spawn point is when I'm chasing a kill, because I'm not really checking my map, I'm checking distance and lining the shot. I'm not going to fault anyone for flying a maxed ship, though. I've pulled it out a few times to keep my edge. I've been victim of bursts in my alt ships that I'm leveling. I'm pretty sure there's more than a few people out there that get some satisfaction even if I am flying a clunker. Whatever the case, you can't tell people how and what they should fly. That's why in this case, I issued a warning. I will hunt down cheese, and turn it into Swiss.
  11. I know there's quite a few of you out there that are new into GSF as of Tuesday. So you probably don't recognize names, certainly not what type of ships those names fly normally. You probably don't know just how many ships someone might have that are mastered already, tricked out and sitting in the hanger because we'd rather fly something else and level it up when we don't recognize too many names on the opposing side. So that we can have a somewhat decent fight. Then you start with the n00b ion tapping. You know, that rapid fire ion firing on someone that pins 4 people down, that keeps going forever because you don't have to charge it at all to get that effect. Yeah. That one. You know what happens after having to listen to that ion rail sound effect pumped straight into my ear for the third time in the same second? I get annoyed. I suicide into something close. I pull out my Flashfire, and I make it my mission to send you back to your respawn point as many times as possible. Then I hunt down your other little gunship buddies and do the same. And while I'm not doing that, I get bored and go 3 cap you. Or the couple other vets that you managed to tick off do it. Then we go and destroy the rest of your team, because why not. Simple rule of thumb, there are certain "tactics" that the community as a whole considers cheese. If you do those things and get caught, someone is going to hunt you without mercy. Probably for a long time to come. Your GSF experience will be a miserable one. So don't do those things. Unless you're like me and are a glutton for punishment and like having people dedicated to make sure you spend more time respawning than flying. Then by all means, have at.
  12. "Sitting" is used relatively in this case. It just means staying in the same area. I don't care if you're turning pirouettes around that sat, a good gship pilot will hit you at some point as long as you're letting them snipe at you with impunity. If you haven't been snipes sitting at a sat for an extended period of time, you have faced a lot of gship pilots who suck.
  13. Here's the problem with this line of thinking. That gunship is going to take you out. No matter where you're sitting on that node, you're going to get sniped at some point, probably in one hit. And that node gets taken anyway. Your first priority is always to get that gunship. Even if that means swinging back afterwards and retaking the node from that scout that zoomed in. With a few exceptions, you shouldn't have trouble taking out that gship, then swinging back to deal with the node and capper(s). If you're just sitting at that node, not helping yourself any.
  14. Yeah, I've got a FEW people on TEH that run gunships with evasion build counter setup. Hence why I said, if your accuracy sucks (read: 106% or below).
