  1. Well, I didn't come here crying when it happened to me way back (before the game was F2P), since I realize that stuff like this happens, and unless it is an unreasonably long time, I just have to wait it out or try to find my own solution...

     

    Your resilience aside, when you pay to access a service that requires provided software it's on the provider to find a solution when they force a patch that breaks functionality, not the end user. If they don't fix it in a reasonable time frame, it's completely legitimate to request a refund for services not rendered.

     

    You and OP might legitimately quibble on what that time frame may be, and I absolutely agree his tone was unfortunate, but I hardly think it's an absurd request.

  2. Well, there have been folks not being able to play the game after practically every major patch.

    There is always some small minority of players who experiences that, but it would be a nightmare to verify that they were indeed the victim of this bug/problem, and just handing out freebies to everyone isn't the answer either when it is a minority of players experiencing the problem.

     

    That's something we both can appreciate.

     

    However for someone who's paying for access and loses it through no fault of their own, I think it's natural to have an expectation of recompense. It's the nature of a hosted service -- ensuring uptime and when you can't, appeasing angry customers, even if it's just a pittance they're losing.

    They got a raw deal, I can't say I blame them. I play West from East at ~100-120ms, and phantom GCDs and the like aren't much fun -- but I made that choice voluntarily for my guild, it wasn't thrust upon me.

     

    That said, the numbers used here are questionable. Year old 10 second samples (!) purported to be indicative of current general usage only serve to muddle a relatively simple concept -- it's going to get laggier.

    i've reached 50 and we get those tionese commendations to purchase the first gear into elder game

     

    but i have a friend who is reaching 50 soon, and he is prefered status and he's afraid that the 20 comm limit will make him lose the commendations when he gets 50.

     

    does any1 know what happens to those comms?

     

    I think the Tionese limit was ~100?

     

    Anyway, the latest patch notes say "Free-to-Play and Preferred Players no longer have a lower cap on the number of Commendations they may accrue compared to Subscribers." So ask him if the limit in his currency tab reflects that.

  5. Healing was overnerfed... that's a good one.

     

    In a game where it takes 20 seconds to kill someone, but a healer can patch them up from nearly-dead to full health in 6 seconds... you would buff healing more? The way it is right now it is nearly impossible to kill someone who is receiving healing unless you stop the healer somehow -- trying to outDPS their heals takes 3 or more players.

     

    Are you sure you're playing a DD class (properly)?

  6. It is 20%, and as of now is almost NEVER dispelled.

     

    I participated in a 8v8 all out deathmatch and tested this.

     

    Let the healers freecast on a target as we zerged it with the heal debuff and then without.

     

    Made no difference.

     

    You're using the word test a bit liberally there. Losing 20% off the top is quite noticeable to a healer, and understandably more difficult to notice to a DPS who sees nothing more than a fluctuating red bar.
