  1. Hey Ive just found a thread with a suggestrion to consolidate servers in one big server ;P I mean really this is getting less tiring and more funny I get constructive suggestions etc but when watching some posts/threads I can just sit with my jaw open wondering what the person thought when they posted
  2. So ok - I too have some issues with the game, and find changes popping at unsatiusying rate sometimes but after watching the forums I got stunned by what people ask Bioware for. I mean really. So -for all those people who would like to change the game entirely for no reason other that *they* would like it more and think it should be done by the end of the week - I propose the Most Ridiculous Demands list ! If you happen to find a funny demand or want to comment on some type of demands you find dumb do it here, You can make some up as long as they are funny and in our very own 'i love to troll and whine' forum theme ;-) (this is a joke list. I normally wouldnt point it out but in this forums Ive been burned because of it :-) ) To start off I propose: 1)Swimming! Swimming is essencial for any game especially Star Wars MMO! Remember when luke swam to ... um... when leia decidet to dive into ... um ... wow has swimming ! We need swimming! 2)Character Transfers or Server Merges! We all know you dont do them because youre meanie heads BW! I mean you have serious problem with an issue that may make you loose money, Im sure you dont fix it because youre dumb/mean/high ! 3)Ranked Warzones ! You said youll do them ! And you tried ! And failed, apologised and now are trying to implement them as fast as possible ! How horrible of you Bioware ! 4)Cross-Server LFG tool ! Im sure you put same server one beacuse youre dumb ! Its not like 'you dont have a technology to do so' is a more possible option, no, you dont to them because youre mean! 5)Balance ! Its not like every other MMO isnt 100% balanced! They all are ! TOR is the only game with balance issues ! 6)No new content! 7)You added some !? Not enough ! 8)Still not enough ! You work for like 6 months you should have 20 operations (all voiced over) 40 warzones (in which I always win) and lets face it - at least 80 Falshpoints (also fully voiced over with a group always waiting for me so I can go to them the very second I log in)! 9)Ship Furniture! What self-respecting mmo does not have furniture and other sandbox elements in their spaceships(one for each class of a game)? How can I trully believe I am a greatest smuggler in the galaxy when Im not sitting in my trusty couch? Think han solo would live with that Bioware ? Think again! 10)More music! No one will complain that they cant hear anything beacuse of the music the very second you implement it ! Stick to the classics like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdmKCovW11w or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZuwZiaW4kA or possibly 11)NPC interaction! We want more npc interaction to truly feel like our characters! At every second of the game ! Even little cleaning droids should have full voiceovers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k5PSw73y4A&feature=related 12)Realistic space battles! No more railroads! We all know true rpg MMOS are ALL about space battles ! We also want as many options as possible! our own shooting spaceship guns! Grand cooperative multiplayer battles! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGr7lXlyK3Y&feature=related and companion help! They shouldnt just talk they should do stuff ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2fCBg0zfXE&feature=related If you have any other bright 100% doable (preferabbly in a week) ideas post them here ! :-) Together we can help bioware ! Because theyre not working to get paid as hard as they can! No! They prefer to loose money and eat donuts or whatever ! ;P (once again - sarcasm ;P )
  3. I actually pictured the only two guys on the server talking to each other how awesome the next patch will be and that they cant uderstand what the hell people are complaining about :-) Cheers to OP - good one :-) Edit. Also fascinating how you have to flat out POINT the IRONY to some people thanks to ADHD and the internet no ? ;-)) there were even angry replies that 'no SWTOR is bad an heres why...' lol
  4. Exacly - game flops (not in reality in minds of investors) and the investors get scared. If they think server merging is a sign of things going really bad they start to sell so BW delays server merges as much as possible in order not to loose money. Simple explanation thats somehow more beliviable than 'BW is stupid' ;-) Hope thy wont delay some changes too loong though since it could damage the game a lot
  5. Once again Activision Blizzard does not equal Blizzard Entertainement. Activision Blizzard is a merged company with Activision (and Vivendi since Blizzard were a part of VIvendi) being the owner and Blizzard being the owned whilst still having lots of autonomy concerning decision making. simple history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activision_Blizzard http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=128252 http://www.marketwatch.com/story/bobby-kotick-changes-game-activision?pagenumber=2 this means that basicly Blizzard got a better deal that Bioware did (and with a good reason its a bigger company). Activision (and Vivendi) makes up most of the board of directors and menagement and Blizzard (daughter company of Vivendi) reports directly to Activision (and Vivendi). Annual revenue reports that you check are those for Vivendi (oryginal parent company of Blizzard) and Activison HOLDING called 'Activision Blizzard' meaning the merged companies of Blizzard and Activision and Vivendi and others. With Activision and Vivendi ruling the HOLDING and Blizzard having some autonomy and its name in the HOLDINGS name Only-Blizzard incomes (which are only part of Activision-Blizzard HOLDING incomes) are smaller than EA incomes (which is a big company consisting of many smaller ones like Bioware). See what I mean ? Same as Biowares income is smaller than the Activision-Blizzard HOLDINGs incomes. Gee you stick to this topic by the way. This was supposed to be a metaphor if remember right and your nitpicking every single word I say. EDIT Even simpler 'Activision Blizzard' incomes = incomes on EA level (similar higher or lower) Division of 'Activision Blizzard' called 'Blizzard incomes < EA incomes
  6. Buddy theres a little diffrinece between -saying one company can buy another and -saying one company could buy the incomes of another and still have lots left. And yes EA makes waaay more than Blizzard does. Activision - I have no idea (probbably they make similar amounts) but Blizzard - yes they are making more.Way more. So much more. See those smaller companies usually end up being bought by the bigger ones due to their need for financial help (meaning cash to expand the company) Activision bought Blizzard EA bought Bioware. You can compare big company A and B like activisiona and ea but do not compare Blizzard with EA Your if you compare annual incomes of EA and Blizzard Entertainement (not Blizzard Activision which is the name of merged activision and blizzard company) youll see what I mean.
  7. See ? 'EA forgot to feed it' - how do you forget a product that cost you 200 million dollars ? Thats not logic, thats emotions speaking. Those people are not stupid and they like money - we all do. Would you throw out a 100 dollar bill without a reason ? Why do you think others would? 'feeding' is cut for a reason - I dont like it either but its not because 'they be supid dawg' or anything like that. Its not that simple. What were trying here is to figure out the true logical reason why some problems - merges, lay offs, bugs, featute implementation etc. - occur. Read a little in the thread, people - not just me - have been writing great posts, dont want to quote all to make post 5 pages long. but I think were closer to the answer here than in the 'BW be stupid/evil not like me me smart' or 'I unsubscibed' threads that seem to pop up every 2 minutes.
  8. Who said anything about EA buying Blizzard or Activision? Ever ? Exacly ! Thats what Im saying - many mistakes made are not to lack of knowledge on BW part, or because they dont care. They are experienced game makers and believe you me everyone cares when they handle milions of dollars. Thats because um ... well they migh loose them. Bashing that community is dead, game needs this and that is pointless - those things have logical reason. Sane thing to do (I think) is to think why some mistakes were made - and not use emotions positive or negative - and wonder where this all is heading. My point is - I think that BW and EA wont give a pass for this game but wont cut their wrists for it either. From articles Ive posted earlier Ive conducted (and this is just speculation) that they knew they will have problems with the game but for unknown reasons simply had to release it when they did. They also wait with server merges for a reason (Warhammer+stock+investors watch previous posts). And yes this is a speculation but a more productive one than yelling out what you do or do not feel -and may lead to constructive thinking? Does this game have a future? What will it be ? Will it change ? If not - why ? If yes - how ? I also agree that after EA bought BW they changed their policies - theres a huge diffrience in how the games story develop, their quality, dlc content and so on. And while I do not like many of them I try to think where this may lead ? Not just spill hate speech all over the place. By watching posts in the thread I can see that Im not alone in my perspective and that awesome :-)
  9. To tell the truth from what Ive seen investors never really believed in this MMO http://gamasutra.com/view/news/123095/Analyst_Wary_EA_Investors_Betting_Against_SWTOR.php They had problems with stocks loosing value etc (see may original post in this thread) and all this 'SWTOR is important but not that important' making 1.3 promo the same day you lay people off etc is (in my oppinion its just speculation) a way of hiding problems from already scared investors and a kind of damadge control. Problem is without server merge the game wil die and they might not be able to merge servers because it would hit their stock value (investors might percieve it as a threat - see my oryginal post) and this may lead do decline of the game or its death. I can understand why EA makes such decisions concerning server merges (this is not their only project and they dont want to look bad - investors) I can understand why BW makes such decisions (theyre EA employees and this is a hierarchical wgere structure and EA is the owner and they are the owned) but still I dont know why there couldnt be like a patch made that allows server merges but is called 'New Influx' or something and is targeted as a way to get new people. I mean 1)you create a patch with server merges 2)to hide that you create a MASSIVE content patch like new warzones (1 or 2) new instances (1 or 2 ) new features (LFG system ranked warzones etc) 3)You hit the TV and the internet with commercials with a theme 'XYZ people at launch, Biggest MMO ever, greatest developement team in MMO history, most devoted to customer needs team ever, fastest content-growing MMO known here we are - be part of all new and ever changing STAR WARS!' or something similar -it shows that game changes (target customer: people who unsubbed due to lack of changing things they didnt like) -it shows new features (target customer: people who unsubbed due to getting bored due to lack of content) -it shows that game is doing good (target customer: new people who didnt try it out) Is that that hard? It would hide the server merge, possibly add new people, stop the hate bash a little (many people want to believe in the game they just dont) by showing that its changing and wouldnt need much work. I mean - Im Polish and were not so experienced in making RPG games. But an inexperienced comany manadged to create Witcher 1 and 2. If thats possible how hard it is to make 2 warzones 2 non story flashpoints (for gods sake its just an enviroment with random mobs in it if you make it non/little-story one like with satele shan/malgus giving quest-fihting-satele shan/malgus talk-the end) LFG system and Ranked Warzones. It would take 3 perhaps 4 months but how hard would that be really ? It would be good PR (game is alive and changing) might bring in new people, adress some problems (mmo is never 'finished) and most of all turn around the 'OMG well gonna die' table that were sitting by.
  10. True - the irritating part (for me) is saying bullcrap for PR sake when you could just say 'Im sorry' and get better results. That I do not understand - take DA2 for example - game -reused enviroments over and over, -reused enemies over and over, -did not have the ability to put any kind of armour on companions -went on in like one city (which would be fine witch new exiting and diffrient enviroments but when you walk the same city and the same houses - the only diffrience was which doors were closed - you instantly get bored) = was obviously rushed waaaay too soon (and too bad too I liked the charcters and the story) now I get why you rush a games - sometimes you just need to for financial reasons for example - what I do not get is why nobody went out and said 'Ok we understand why youre angry and well gonna adress it - well change some stuff and make a few enviroments and enemies as a free DLC - you are our customers and we care!' I mean it would still be BS (one should not releade an unfinished product) but would show a little class and most of all would not alienate their own customers. I mean I actually remember when Blizzard and Bioware were companies that were pointed out as those people who make the best games (rpgs at least) on the planet and many (me included) bought their games just because they had Bioware logo on it. Once again - I get rushing and PR but why use it this way? I try to understand those kind of things but cant wrap my mind around this one - it just seems not so smart for me its like sacrificing a good brandname for sake of short term gains uncomparable to the possible (and at one time - probbable) long term goals. Why photoshop heavy or full severs into a promo when the very first thing people will see is that was a lie and youll alienate new people the second they launch the game ? My only bet (and its just speculation and as I said - a bet) is that EA bough out BW to diversify their portfolio (which is a smart thing) and now they run it like a sports game company which isnt working out too good (theres a diffrience between Fifa and a MMO or an RPG with the first one you can rush things and forget a team or something with the second when you rush and **** up the ending you get all-out-interner-customer rage), so basicly they will end up draining money of BW due to its recognisabe brandname (DA was good and now BW made DA2 ? Hey Ill buy it !) and than resell them to someone else when that no longer applies. I mean I dont know that (just betting) but for the life of me cant think of anything else that makes remotely any sense - Why photoshop heavy servers? This will make you less money in the long run (and for gods sake you could just not make a shot with servers picture in it) - Why make a rushed ending like ME3 and istead of upgrading it for obvius reasons yell about your artistic freedom - you alienate your customers and in time that will show up in stock value. - Why not upgrade a game (DA2) with a free DLC and *than* make payable paid DLCs ? I dont have anything against dlcs but making a rushed game and asking people to pay for new armours or characters that are already in game (you can actually hack the code and get them without downloading anything) is just ... rude I mean I think I have an understanig how a company work and understand that it has to appease to its shareholders but those things make me scratch my head like a god**** monkey - Its just bad buisness ;l whining about 'I want X in game X is needed and no X breaks the game' is funny since people making the game know that since theyre proffesionals but some late buisness BW decisions are just baffling to me.
  11. Exacly! Not very pretty but thats how corporations work - and they kind of have to to turn profit and not get eaten by others while they try 'going the good thing'. Bashing 'you should implement X' 'you should implement Y' 'Z was a bad decision' makes no sense since those people know what theyre doing. If theyre not doing something its for a reason and unfortunaley its probbably something not very .... high. Like rushing a game for a better yearly income, laying people off for a better profit, making PR decisions like putting together bad and good info together to hide the bad one not to anger the investors, delaying merging servers just to appease those investors ('nono were not Warhammer'). Funny thing though is that theres a good possibility that for example merges would - on paper - make BW more money because they would make gamers happy and create more subscriptions but they (once again - possibitlity not a fact) cant do it because that would antagonise the investors who would think that if the servers are merging the game will be doing worse and take their money away (because in their world server merge=warhammer scenario=loosing money since thats what they saw earlier, know nothing about mmos and they dont want to risk it). Besides its fun to look behind the curtain a little, I reccomend reading economical articles (just type ea bioware swtor economics stocks or any combination of those in google) they can really open your eyes on what may possibly be going on. There is no ignorance there is knowledge as they say ;-) also you can find - by accident - strange things like info on how toilet paper companies incomes can be used to diagnose the overal economical situation around the globe like we kind of did here lol
  12. game flops (just an example doesnt have to mean that SWTOR will flop) do you tell people - investors who pay you money- that it was A)nr 1 on your agenda? B)not really so important?
  13. Nice post Grayseven liked it a lot but Id object to one thing: maybe they needed a quick 1-2 year buck ? To make a better yearly income than expected for example? Or because the game was developed so long and the investors were getting imatient/scared that it may flop? Or: Tigers scandal dropped the sales of the new golf game plus they needed to lend him something for the alimony ? ;-)) I joke but you get my point - I find it hard to believe that those people said 'Hey we can makes lots of money with this' 'Hey thats great ! But lets not!' 'Ok great idea!' and some people believe that they did It seems (from looking at some threads/posts) also maxetius Yes people are being let go and thats normal but 1)they did make a point of keeping the original team - all of it 2)now theyre loosing subscribers (400 k confirmed) just after they said they didnt loose anybody (see my post above) 3)the 'letting go' pops up the same day that 'new exiting featres' are presented. I mean why not tell us yesterday ? Besides my point was - think before you judge and yell 'Bad BW you stupid me smart! Haha me so smart me tell you what you do to be smarl like I be !' or something similar to 'I cancelled my subscription because there is no X and I want X, not implementing X is stupid/game breaking/whatever' or something like thet - dev probbably knoww that. They just dont adrsss that or adress it at a slow rate for some reason - probably financial. To make it simpler : this does make sense if you look at it at a certain angle and while we may not like what we see (I dont) emotional yelling - that everythings great or bad - doesnt make sense. Its entirely posslible that youre right - I was making more of an example than trying to show 'hidden facts'. Point being companies are just that - companies nothing more nothing less and should be viewed as such not as 'super cool guys who will do anything to make me happy' or 'super evil/stupid people who will do anything to make me sad'
  14. Im polish and know 4 languages but still make mistakes like that sometimes ;/ should have heard my german ;P but just for the fun of it (were looking the subject up just for funsies before I got that you meant 'paper toilet' not 'toilet paper investing is funny') http://stocks.about.com/od/evaluatingstocks/a/040710defensive.htm http://etfdb.com/2010/are-toilet-paper-sales-signaling-a-strong-recovery/ World is a very very strange place when you start to read too much, no? :-) also yes but blizzard is an rpg making company fixed on making very little but high quality projects. EA is a big company fixed on making lots of projects so if one flops they still get the profit. They have much much bigger portfolio than Blizzard since they have more cash and thats a diffrient financial structure - EAs wants stable growing income through diversity (BW gets money on their projects as a part of their portfolio in turn for their cooperation in such a structure) while Blizzard originally just made rpg games and based their financial success on quality of the games. While from gamers perspective Blizzard is the good one from financial perspective EA is better since it makes waaaaay more cash and could buy Blizzards incomes with enough cash to fund a trip to Caribbeans for most of their employees. [quote[ EA on the other hand pulls the plug at the first site of problems. from financial point - why not ? (not that theyre doing that I think; restructurising the company doesnt mean it dies it means it cuts the losses in order not to die and make a profit). Youve got game A that makes 8 cash game B that makes 9 cash Game C that make 7 cash and Game D that makes 4 cash is a little problematic and can hurt your oberall income. Why keep it ? Is it your irresposnsible yet loved child or something ? You cut the losses and go - not a great thing but an understandable thing. That said I think EA and BW will still try to make this one work - only thing is now they accepted that they wont make as much as they thought. And that wasnt that much since even before day 1 they kept on saying what is the minimal number of people needed to turn a profit.
