  1. Say what you will NO class should be able to pump out 350k Dps and heal at all. But, you see it all day everyday 350k damage 150k healing. Yes I know the hordes of posters need to l2p..

Yeah, it really is a L2P issue as someone who has little interest (quitting the game).

Sorry, throwing out random numbers and then acting incredulous doesn't change that.

  2. no no.. omg.. you hit for 2-4k/ second!!!! so.. let me get this straight.

Your freecasting damage is averageing 3k/second. You have interrupts to stop healing.

The healers free casting heals are 6k/3seconds.. or 2k/second and has less options to interrupt your DPS than you have to interrupt his healing... well..

if there are two of you doing 3k DPS, thats 6k dps !!! he has 16k hp.. it took you 30 seconds of pounding on him before you got smoked. so he must have had 3 pocket healers free casting on him to keep him healed above your DPS.

WELL WHEN I SEE A GUY THATS FIGHTING AND THREE HEALERS BEHIND HIM.. I DONT JUST STAY AND BEAT ON THE GUY GETTING HEAKLED FOR 30 SECONDS. I PEEL OFF AND ATTACK HEALERS.. BUT YOU AND YOUR BRAINDEAD FRIEND FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW PVP WORKS, SO GOOD *********** RIDDANCE.

    Yeah, this is really constructive.

  3. Ok now lets say 1v1 healer v dps, dps has no heals... who wins?

Imo the healer at this stage of the game should come out on top every time with a very slow burn while keeping themself alive.

Without referring to what class/spec they are? It could go either way. But that's really beside the point, because any PvP that's worth a damn happens in a group environment.

  4. As it stands now, without extremely well placed CC and burst it is near impossible to kill a healer that only has to stand in place and cast. Now if a healer is on the run and doesnt stand and cast and you continue the attack there is a much better chance of killing them. I want to hear other peoples opinions on this subject.

Do not leave L2P or any other insulting comments.

Interrupt and roots are not on resolve. You do not have to have "extremely well placed CC" it just has to be used at an appropriate time. Healers are doing no damage or healing on others while they focus healing themselves, so sending one strong DPS at them pretty much puts them out of the fight if it doesn't kill them (unless they get peeled off). Many people don't consider CCing the healer with long "mez" type spells and focus firing others one at a time.

I'm not going to be so condescending as to say L2P, but I just simply disagree. Healers aren't really too strong, people just aren't using their tools properly and they're losing. The same thing happens when you come up against another player of your role and you make poor decisions - it leads to a loss. If your complaint is that healers work really well with people keeping them alive and helping them (especially a clever tank) well, that's how the game should work. The different roles are supposed to work well with each other and strengthen them. A team with 5 DPS, 2 healers and a tank will almost always have a leg up on a team with 8 DPS if they know what they're doing.

If you find yourself coming up against a more diverse team with all DPS all the time, maybe you should make some friends with healers/tanks and queue up with them. I bet you'll see more success.

  5. That's EXACTLY the problem. I can discuss it however i want. I can ask politely, i can /rage, i can even report them - but in the end, that player can decide to extricate me or anyone else, appropriately or otherwise and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

What, you mean like leaving the group?

This post just can't be for real.

    • He constantly doesn't see the value in games like BF3 because he doesn't play multiplayer. Its almost like he's clueless in that area.

If you listen to enough of his reviews you sort of piece together that Yahtzee isn't particularly good at video games. He complains about dying a lot and generally not being effective when it comes to multiplayer in more than one review. Which is fine, because he isn't paid to be good at video games. He's paid to be funny.

  6. They keep having Yahtzee review games that he just shouldn't ever touch. I mean, I generally think Yahtzee can be funny but this didn't generally tickle any funny bones and he just gets a lot of his interpretation of the game wrong several times (how does moral choice in a group work?).

He gave it a positive review because even though it's an MMO it feels like a single player game at the beginning, and Yahtzee hates anything multiplayer. So when he saw this game in a decidedly multiplayer genre that was emphasizing the single player aspects, he was happy with it. Never mind that this means it should have just gone the way of KOTOR3 according to him, because as far as he's concerned it basically did.

This is about as stupid as when he reviewed MW3 and BF3. If you hate the genre you're reviewing it's probably a waste of time for all involved (unless it gets funny, I guess).

  7. So, you're asking to be able to skip the single thing that Bioware is the most proud of out of all SWTOR's features.

    Story.

    Good luck with that.

    -k

Listening to BT dialog for the 10th time is a rich and rewarding experience for all participants. And if you can't enjoy that, well, go ahead and quit then!!11

  8. I can respond to this post but I'm not terribly interested in the 60 post e-debate. I'm most likely going to be leaving the forums soon anyways.

Could you please state a few examples? I am not disputing what you say, but I think for the discussion it would better than if I cherry pick things I think fit and you pick things you think fit and we argue past each other :D

-They want a combat log but do not have one.

-They implemented very similar PvE to WoW, but their mechanics are far less interesting and the hard modes amount to "well, this time it hits harder!"

-Even the WoW default UI is more customizable than the TOR default UI, completely ignoring the capability of addons. Developers have said a more customizable UI is something they want.

-The combat is much smoother in WoW, ability delay/misfiring is something they want/need to fix

These are just a few off the top of my head, I don't doubt that I could come up with more should I actually take the time to do so.

I feel differently, the problem is that MMO's rarely if ever set out to set themselves CLEARLY apart.

At their core, there is not much difference between RIFT, and LOTRO, and WAR, and any other derivitive fantasy adventure setting than from WoW. The games that have done the best have carved a HARD niche that can't be bridged, such as EvE. Too often, the others try to maintain a soft distance and "win" on "features" while copying things from WoW instead of focusing on what made them different. That will never, ever work.

They don't fizzle because they suck. They fizzle because instead of running with what makes them different and attracting a DIFFERENT playerbase, they are similar enough to WoW that people FROM WoW or who like parts of WoW try them out for a while. Then they realize there's just not much there and drift off.

A perfect example is STO. Do you know what stupid thing STO did? It put the freaking Holy Trinity into SPACE combat. Guess what happened? It imploded. Because it was WoW, but on ships in space.

Can't out WoW WoW and then expect a good ending.

They fizzle because people don't care for them relative to other things in the market, for whatever reason. WoW is clearly the industry leader and controls more of the market than other large brands such as Coke control of their market. That's all I'm pretty much saying, since you were suggesting that there was no dominating the MMO market. If we're talking about markets for F2P or P2P, markets for FPS/RTS/RPG games, then you're absolutely right. But WoW and TOR are both P2P MMORPGs with incredibly similar styles of combat and endgame. It's the same market.

I think the genre could benefit from doing things differently, but TOR really just isn't it. Also, I take issue with your statement that you can't, as you say, "out WoW WoW." WoW became successful by "out EQing EQ." I think there's room for both approaches, and I think my experience and the experience of others (including a large majority of reviewers) suggests it's taking the latter approach. The similarities outnumber the differences by a large margin. I would argue that WoW had more differences with EQ than TOR does with WoW if I cared enough to do so, but that's for a different thread (though the voiceovers and story-driven quests/flashpoints were a fairly big difference).

I feel like this thought that WoW and TOR are so incredibly different is over-exaggerated by people who found the inclusion/lack of a certain feature in WoW to be desirable, or that they fit into the "explorer" gaming type and the cutscenes and voiceovers really are game-changers. Combat, PvE and the general reward system are pretty much mirrors of what you'll find in WoW (with the exception of the PvP reward system, which is generally regarded by PvPers as being frustrating and "grindy" feeling).

  9. But it isn't different for the sake of being different in a lot of areas. It's simply deficient relative to the competition in some respects - they're trying to copy the feature, but miss key components or are not finished doing so yet.

People are trying to conflate all MMO's to "one" market that can be dominated, but that clearly isn't the case.

Recent MMO history with launches of P2P games actually suggest just that. There's a reason new P2P MMOs initially surge and then either fizzle out and shut down/drop to a small sub base or go F2P while WoW still maintains a number of subscribers that dwarfs the competition (even when you listen to those that want to forget everything outside of NA/EU).

I'm pretty sure that's dominating the P2P MMO market.

  10. Why would you say he is without a clue?? Is this the first time you've heard of someone wanting healing nerfed?? Ive seen 2 or 3 people unable to kill a healer beacause he out healed any damage they could dish out,so I can see why he would want to see a healing nerf.2 or 3 people is over kill REGARDLESS of how good the player is. Btw... like the idea of a OP/Scoundrel nerf or not..The people that cried for that nerf are the real blame here tbh.. its THOSE people that started this fire. Its the same in ANY mmo.. as soon as one nerf hits, more will follow. So yes, healing will get nerfed sooner or later.

you've seen 2 or 3 people unable to kill a healer because

    1) These players were not very good

    2) There was most likely a tank off to the side who you should have focused first

    3) You all spammed your CC and gave them full resolve when they were at 80%

    4) No one was using interrupts even though there were most likely 2-3 of them, giving you the ability to completely lock them out of any useful heals.

It's not healers, it's you. The reason ops/Scoundrels are getting the nerf bat is because they legitimately deserve a nerf when the only possible counter to them is on a 2 min cooldown. Nerf healers are you're basically making them nearly worthless since anyone with a clue will be able to kill them and the healer will be able to do nothing at all to combat it.

The solution is to learn to play better, and by knowledge of your "IT TAKES 2-3 PEOPLE TO KILL A HEALER!!!!11" claim I'd say you could use that advice as well.

  11. I play a sage and i can say we are absolutely overpowered to the tenth degree.

Not only do I have every Utility tool in the game, ON TOP OF THAT i also have absurd damage and survivability.

Knockback+root?, 2 stuns 30m ranged? instant cast polymorph 30m range? Sprint? Interupt that locks out for 6 seconds at 30m range? you cant even BEGIN to compare the utility of this class to other classes.

EDIT: they need to place the utility talents higher up in the balance and Telekinetics trees so that you cant get BOTH the utility from Telekinetics and from balance....

I will repeat my statement, and offer the suggestion that you take a look at other classes. You'll find that everyone is afforded PLENTY of utility and control, you just have a large majority of players that don't use it and then wonder why they're failing when they sit and spam their DPS abilities rather than cleverly interrupting/blinding/stunning/what have you.

As a healer sorc I have neither more nor less utility than a merc or op. If you think sorcs have anything that even TOUCHES stealth utility-wise then you're just absolutely delusional or not very creative when it comes to the use of stealth.
