  1. As the title implies, it would be a nice convenience if the 'Report as Spam' function in-game doubled as a /ignore. I imagine anyone that we'd bother to report for spamming we'd also like to /ignore them. Just a small thing I thought I'd throw out there.
  2. It wasn't until I started playing a Scoundrel healer did I pay any attention to buffs/debuffs, and this was well after the UI customization updates, so I can't imagine the hell the rest of you had to suffer through without being able to clearly see buffs/debuffs on the Ops frames. I also only skimmed through this thread, so I apologize in advanced if any of these ideas had already been proposed. That being said, I can't say any of these are "easy fixes" as I know very little about coding, but I think the buffs/debuff issues could be solved with (1) highlights and (2) filters. 1. Highlight your buffs/debuffs. Pretty much, if its yours, it'll have a colored outline around the buff/debuff icon. If any customization were allowed, I think being able to change the color and thickness of the outline will more than suffice. 2. Filter buff/debuffs. I think this idea depends on how everything is categorized. I imagine categories would be broken down into Class Buffs, Procs, Misc (consumables and the like), Heals, Slows/Roots, Stuns, CC, Cleanse-able DoTs, Purge-able DoTs. And obviously, if it's yours, a teammates', or an enemy's. 3. HoT Timer. This is simply wishful thinking to make my Slow Release Medpack management easier, but a tiny CD inside the icon would be nice. I don't think it would be an issue if and when a player makes their icons bigger.
  3. I can understand that argument, and I suppose that situation would warrant a guard for the healer, but I don't think it should be done without reminding the DPS of their kill order (weakest to strongest) and having the tank reexamine how they open fights/generate AoE threat. Otherwise, those basics will continue to be ignored.
  4. I really should start browsing the server forums more often, but I digress. I agree with everyone about the OP's tone, but like everyone else, they're all valid points. Everything surrounding threat is solely on the tank, and as a tank myself, my eye twitches if I see a mob target someone else, if only for a split second. If you know the fights, know how to taunt/guard appropriately, gear properly, and perform your rotation perfectly, there shouldn't be any problems with maintaining threat. Just want to jump in on this and say that most PUG tanks I've run with on my Scoundrel Healer or Watchmen (shut up! It's a playstyle preference) Sentinel are horribly misinformed. Things they say/do that make me want to strangle them: 1. Start fights with taunts. 2. Guard healers. 3. Stack Endurance with little regard for their defensive stat distribution. 4. Complain when anyone steals threat (hence this thread)
  5. First of all, I'm from the Ebon Hawk as well, and would like to shamelessly direct you to one of the community websites I run: EH Community. I encourage you to repost this guide there, if only to get some extra opinions because I know quite a few people don't regularly browse the SWTOR forums. Secondly, great job on the guide. You're right, it lacks the finer details of a proper guide, but this is more than sufficient to get newly acquainted Shadow tanks on their way. But, as a fellow Shadow tank, I'm sure it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you I have a few tanking preferences to take into consideration. I'm a lazy Shadow tank, using 37/5/4 for both PvE and PvP. I've honestly found more benefit in Spinning Kick than in Mental Fortitude or Force Synergy; I hit hard enough as it is, and preventing an attack altogether makes the miniscule endurance increase a moot point. And as far as PvP is concerned, I run in a full DPS set (with a two-piece tank bonus for the decreased spinning kick) with a shield. I can't quite take as much damage or output enough to be an immediate threat, but it's just enough to make me an annoying DPS/Tank hybrid. Oh, and Celerity: why the hell wouldn't you want that!? As for my PvE rotation, it doesn't change between single target or AoE. Start in stealth to get 4 stacks of Shadow Protection > Project > Slow Time > Force Breach > Project > TK > Repeat (Double Strike to proc PA and Face Stab when Project/Slow Time are on CD). With this rotation, I've rarely, if ever had threat issues. I save my Force Pull for stragglers, but that's not to say you can't open fights with Force Pull, I just imagine you waste a Force Speed to close the gap or waste a few GCD's on a single target when you can get straight to work on your primary rotation. My taunts are always used in conjunction with Slow Time and Force Breach to take full advantage of AoE threat generation. I should also mention that I use Force Breach on CD because it doesn't take up that much force and I like to keep the AoE threat generation going. The only real issue I've had with other Shadow Tanks is their insistence on using Whirling Blow, like, at all. If Slow Time and Force Breach aren't enough to maintain AoE threat, you're doing something wrong. Whirling Blow is not worth the Force cost in any situation. Ever. Finally, since you've omitted a discussion for gearing, I think it's worth having every player that's serious about tanking use KeyboardNinja's Tank Stat Distribution guide. It is by no means the end-all-be-all to the optimal defensive stat distribution discussion, but it is definitely a very good starting point. All that being said, again, great guide. Just figured I'd throw in my two cents on my tanking process.
  6. Cool deal. Feel free to add the Seventh Virtue Republic guild website (http://www.tsv.enjin.com), as well as the EH Community website (http://www.ebhawk.enjin.com).

  8. Just wanted to chime in here real quick. Since you're level 40, you're missing a few abilities and all that jazz, so all I can recommend is to grab those high endurance mods, have a shield equipped, and have Combat Technique active. As for your rotation, never open with Force Pull; it should be reserved for stray adds or for very situational mob pulls. Generally, your rotation should be Project, Slow Time, Force Breach, Project, Telekinetic Throw, repeat (with the exception of Force Breach, you'll want to use that every two rotations or so). If any of those abilities are on CD, use Double Strike and/or Shadow Strike, if the face stab proc is up. Partial Acceleration from those abilities is not a bad proc to have, either. Oh, and because I've been seeing this a lot lately. Never, ever, ever, ever, use Whirling Blow or Mind Crush. If you see a Shadow Tank using those abilities, tell them "no." Just.... "no." It's just a waste of force >.> Anyway, give that rotation a whirl and let us know how that works out for you.
  9. Oh yeah, I'm totally aware of the other websites, but I figured there would be no harm in at least spreading the word for this particular one. In the meantime, I try my best to cross post as much content as possible in an effort to minimize the server community's segregation, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Of course, anything I cross post is a quick blurb or summary, and ensure that for anyone who is interested, they are forced to visit the source for more information. I don't think it's fair to be stealing traffic from other community websites just as much as I don't think that its fair that players should be excluded from events or whatever because they don't belong to a certain website. On that note, I actually frequent /r/swtor, and I think it's struggling enough as it is, so I don't think /r/ebonhawk would fare any better, unfortunately.
  10. Hey guys, I'm not as active on these forums as often as I should, I tend to lurk, but thanks to Adexi (of the Republic) and her posting of the notes from the Guild Summit that was proposed and hosted by the group of players here, I figured I'd reciprocate the gesture and extend a small invitation to you guys. This is by no means a claim to be the only community website for our server, but if any of you are interested in meeting some other players or would like to have a few more tools/resources at your disposal, I welcome you guys over at the EH Community website. If nothing else, expect to see a few of us at the next Guild Summit meeting! Have a good one!
  11. With the exception of a pure silver-colored crystal and pure black-colored crystal (and shape), BW has introduced and implemented a number of varied white and black core color crystal combinations. I recommend scrolling through the list of available color crystals on TorHead.
  12. This is truly insightful, and I thank you for the effort you put into this, Trols, but honestly, after bringing this to my guild's attention, they would much rather stick with the assumption that 1 credit = 1 USD (since most of us are from the States). Personally, I think your work has definitely provided an amazing resource for RPers to reference, and as you said, RP is all about finding some sort of common ground for people to work from, leading to more realistic monetary transactions. You have provided just that, and deserve the recognition. Interestingly enough, I've recently launched an RP weapons manufacturing company on the Ebon Hawk, and will be taking these calculations into consideration. If you wanted to expand on this thread's implications, I think it would be good to start creating price charts for several "products" to reference. You've already started this with your mention of Luke's speeder and the Big Mac example, but it would be cool if we had some references for armaments, star ship maintenance, food, general supplies, and maybe even the cost of something super expensive/rare like Mandalorian armor and Dreadnaughts.
  13. Quick Information Guild Leader: Vivek RP: Medium/Heavy, mandatory PvE: Casual, endgame PvP: Casual, all level brackets Contact Information Guild Leader: Vivek In-game: Vivek, Minda, Sérik (alt+130) Officer: Beviin In-game: Bêvin (alt+136), Torlem Officer: Krekldev In-game: Krekldev Introduction The Seventh Virtue is a Republic-aligned guild on the PvE-RP server, The Ebon Hawk. We are an RP guild that features a secret organization devoted to protecting the innocent, combating the Empire, and bringing justice to those who would infringe upon the freedoms of others at all costs, even if that means operating outside the law. The guild does not support organized Operation or Ranked PvP teams, but members do regularly participate in PvE and PvP content, primarily at the endgame. Finally, the guild features a private Mumble server, where members congregate on a daily basis. If you are interested in joining the Seventh Virtue, please continue reading, including our Recruitment Policy, before filling out an application. If you are from another guild interested in forming an alliance or adversarial relationship, please contact Vivek. For all other information, questions, comments, or concerns, visit our Front Desk or contact the guild's staff. Guild Rules and Expectations In order to maintain a positive, constructive environment, all members are expected to adhere to the following rules. Failure to do so will result in appropriate disciplinary action, if only to minimize conflict escalation. 1. Respect. All guild members are expected to respect each other and all players, regardless of character affiliation, faction, ethnicity, religion, and political views. This includes no flame baiting, no griefing, no ganking lower level players, and no trolling. 2. Honor Commitments. All guild members are expected to attend all events they have signed up for, and to adhere to specific rules for each event. If an issue arises that prevents a member's participation, they are expected to notify the guild leader or an officer as soon as possible. 3. Maintain an Active Presence. We understand scheduling conflicts can affect a member's participation and overall activity, but we expect members to be as active as possible, be it in-game, Mumble, on the forums, or event participation. The guild leader or officers need to be notified for all extended leaves of absences exceeding fourteen days. 4. Check the Website. The website is used for all guild and event management, and for important announcements. All members are expected to check the website on a regular basis to remain informed on guild activity, but are not required to contribute to the forums; however, members are still encouraged to do so. 5. Use Mumble. If members wish to participate in Operations or Ranked PvP, they are required to be present on Mumble, but are not required to talk, only listen. Otherwise, as a social guild, Mumble is essential to forming and maintaining friendships. Role Play Overview The guild features a secret organization called the Seventh Virtue, which is devoted to protecting the innocent, combating the Empire, and bringing justice to those who would infringe upon the freedoms of others at all costs, even if that means operating outside the law. The Virtue accepts all types of characters, so long as they agree with and can contribute to the aforementioned goals, including maintaining the secrecy of its existence and member anonymity. Guild members are required to have at least one character within the Virtue, the logistics of induction will be discussed upon admittance into the guild. Otherwise, all other alternate characters are not required to be a part of the Virtue, much less required to interact with its membership or participate in guild events. Guild members will be required to create and maintain a custom character sheet to be used for guild-only events, and to participate at their own initiative. For more in-character and out of character information, please visit Seventh Virtue -- IC Information PvE and PvP Overview Although the guild does not formally support Operation teams, we do regularly participate in level 55 hard mode flashpoints, and run operational content when scheduling permits. Likewise, we regularly participate in PvP content of all level brackets, and occasionally queue up for Ranked PvP whenever we're in the mood. Members who wish to participate in Operations or Ranked PvP are required to be in Mumble, if only to listen to the Ops Leader or PvP team. Recruitment Policy and Procedure Interested players in joining the guild must be at least 17 years of age, an active role player, and expected to know and adhere to the aforementioned guild policies and expectations. The recruitment process begins by filling out an application, which will serve as a point of reference for the current membership. Accepted recruits will be placed on a 30-day probation period, wherein they must remain active and demonstrate guild compatibility. After the 30-day probation period, the current guild membership will convene to discuss the recruit's official admittance to the guild. In the event the guild does not believe the recruit will make a good fit, the recruit will be promptly notified, and a number of guilds will be recommended that we believe to be better suited for them, based on the information we have gathered. To increase a recruit's chances of being admitted into the guild, we recommend the following: Talk to members on the chat box, guild chat, or Mumble. Meaningfully contribute to the forums and open discussions; quantity does not equate to quality. Participate in RP-related activities, such as posting character journals and dossiers on the forums, and engaging in open RP with members in-game. Quest, run HMs, and/or PvP with members.
  14. I believe it is based on your technique, as only tanks (Combat Technique) have a larger residue animation. The reason for this is because near the top of the Kinetic Combat (tanking) tree, there is a talent that increases healing output for anyone standing within its radius. So, it's beneficial for your self healing if you drop it at your feet, or for a healer to set up shop. The smaller residue animation is reserved for Shadow technique and Force technique, but I am unsure if their respective skill trees alter Phase Walk because I haven't actually looked at those trees.
  15. (( Copied from my post on the Ebon Hawk Enjin Community website. )) Shadow Tank PvE Build (37/5/4) To whom it may concern, Kinetic Combat (37) Everything up to the fourth tier is pretty much the same, barring a few technical changes to a few talents (ex. Kinetic Ward's increased CD in exchange for no Force cost). Fifth tier is the same, but with the addition of Kinetic Bulwark, which makes takes advantage of Kinetic Ward. Sixth tier is the same, but Force Break gets got an extra point because I had one point left over after all was said and done. Seventh tier got all of my points: I am uncertain how often I'll be using Phase Walk in PvE, but it never hurts to have increased healing. Theoretically, melee DPS would obviously benefit from this ability as well. Martial Prowess was a bit of a shock because it used to be a tier lower (as Stasis), and although the 20% increase in armor no longer exists, being able to use spinning kick is invaluable as a semi-interrupt. Finally, Shadow Warp got full points because I just want an excuse to use Shadow Strike (an ability to was almost exclusively used by Infiltration). Pending clarification on any changes made to Shadow Strike, these two points will probably find better use else where, as my main threat generating abilities are still Slow Time, Force Breach, Project, and Telekinetic Throw.... so far. Slow time. No brainer. Infiltration (5) Full points in Upheaval, which was moved from the Balance tree. Who wouldn't want their rocks to hit harder? Full points in Celerity, which was originally in the second tier, thus unobtainable. Decreased CD on Mind Snap, Force Speed, and Force of Will is a huge benefit to my interrupts and mobility. Balance (4) Full points in Jedi Resistance. Small increase in damage reduction, enough said. Full points in Psychokinesis, which was originally in the second tier. Small decrease in Force cost for a number of melee abilities and Project.
