  1. Both guys' LinkedIn pages indicate they are still with EA/BW Austin. Most people their level who left changed this right away, except Georg Zoeller.

Georg was silent for a good long while before we were notified he was no longer with the team, just like both these guys have been.

    Hmm...

Georg would've updated his LinkIn sooner, but he got stunlocked by a team of operatives.

  2. That's my main gripe, people waited for ranked warzones, they waited for merges, they've waited for a new world event to happen, I've waited enough for you to develop your in world and real world cash sinks and I don't want to support whatever is going on here anymore.

    /thread

I dunno if it was the blue font or the heart-piercingly straightforward logic of your post, but I heard angels singing when I read it.

  3. patches are not content there bug fixes.

if u read the article you see that they promised CONTENT almost every mounth something which we didnt get if anything they removed more per mounth than they did add.

I was being sarcastic :) I was poking fun at the constant bungling they've done.

I was agreeing Gidoru's assertion, they haven't REALLY provided any new content AT ALL.

This article sums it up quite succintly.

You can make excuses all you want, saying that the MMO market has shifted to F2P, but the reality is that the failure of SWTOR to reach its potential is 100% on you.

You promised frequent content and story updates.

You had a very large team.

    You did not deliver.

    What happened?

7 Months in and you have only added one medium size content update, basic features that should have been in at launch and NO story updates at all. What happened to story as a new MMO pillar? What happened to all this supposed story you wrote.

Let this be a lesson to your EA overlords (although you know they will simply do the same thing over and over) STOP RUSHING OUT GAMES BEFORE THEY ARE FINISHED.

Where high profile high potential games are concerned, you will make MORE money by polishing and actually finishing a game rather than releasing a half finished crappy product. You will make MORE money by building brand loyalty rather than destroying it by releasing crap. What is so difficult to understand about this? While you're at it please fire your management and hire people that actually understand how to run a game business.

I love you. I meant it. I really, truly, deeply, sincerely and erotically love you.

  5. EA doesn't seem to distinguish between people who don't want to pay a sub and those who just don't think what they are getting is worth it. I will guarantee that 40% of exiting players weren't advocating FtP, most simply wanted a better game for their money.

Exactly. Once again, EA and BW are tone deaf and completely disconnected from what their actual customers want and will pay for.

  6. Yeah, I tried two beta weekends, GW2 was boooooooring... cancelled my preorder

GW2 is STARTING with 1/3 the content of SWTOR and as a f2p you "should" expect 0 content updates until the expac which you will have to pay for. I agree with you, I don't think people will be expecting this. After 6 months into gw2 with 0 raids and 1/2 the number of dungeons as swtor and a map 1/2 the size of swtor world people are going to be raging so much.

especially when they finally announce new content that will cost $20 to access

and the fact that the game has ALREADY announced there will be ACTUAL useful items for sale for real money... it's not a threat or possibility, they already have useful items that you can buy for real money announced, i'd hate to see what they have up their sleeves...

Perhaps, but I'd bet the 1/3 of the content there ACTUALLY WORKS.

Aside from the teams of stunlocking rogues running around....

  7. thougth i dont plan on staying i have to ask.

those who say there going to go to GW2 how does im quiting cause this game is going FTP and im going to Gw2 a FTP MMO make any sence at all?

Because a) ArenaNet knows what they're doing and b) GW2, like the original GW, was designed as a B2P that had a 'cash' shop. Things for sale in the cash shop included character makeovers (change your hair, skin color, etc), character slots, skill unlocks (for pvp characters only), etc.

My *MAIN* objection to this is NOT that it's going F2P and then they're going to nickel and dime us. It's that it started as a subscription based game. They released the game too early. And while the release was relatively smooth, the bungled just about every subsequent patch. It really hasn't been so long guys since they would take the servers down on Tuesdays to patch and then have to take them BACK down for an emergency patch on Thursday to re-fix what they were supposed to have fixed only 2 days before. They removed ranked wz's within 24 hours of 1.2 dropping.

And who can't forget that it's staffed by "we can't have teams of operatives stunlocking people in pvp, it'll cause people to unsubscribe" types. REAL MEN OF GENIUS.

Do I think GW2 is the second coming of WoW or a WoW-Killer? No, I do not. I'm not really that sold on the game. My cancellation (which happened months ago after the fiasco that was 1.2) is entirely based on BW continuing to mismanage and outright BUNGLE this game. They have consistently bungled just about every major change they've tried to make to the game I COMPLETELY doubt they have the expertise to effectively transition this game from it's current model to a F2P model. I *KNOW* they're going to screw it up. Somehow.

  8. Actually I think other wise.. There really isn't anything different form ftp games and pay to play.. They just have to get the coding for the store ect...

I assure you most of that was already in place for swtor.

FTP is the future period.. GW2 is nothing new and is just ok played several beta weekend and have decided to pass on it right now.

I think in the long run SWTOR will be a better game pve and pvp wise.

Because if BioWare has shown us ANYTHING, it's that they don't release anything until it's ready and that they get it right the first time.

    /sarcasm

  9. LoTRO managed it for 2 years and churned out more content than before it went F2P. They even made it possible for subscribers to buy the paid expansions (rather than the free updates) with the points they got every month just from being subbed. That was an increase in the perks not a decrease.

Yes, but a company that actually knows what it's doing and has competent developers did LotRO. BioWare is NOT Turbine.

  10. I unsubbed, but not because of this. I unsubbed because of all the empty promises and word-games and dead servers and losing my character+legacy name. I supported them from the start and have the Malgus statue to prove it, but enough is enough.

I feel sorry for BioWare though. They died the moment the EA shark came along.

I feel the pain of all you guys that transferred and lost legacy names and whatnot. I didn't, because I was on a destination server, but I sympathize. And I blame EA less than the fact that a LARGE portion of the same devs responsible for Warhammer were brought onto SWTOR and look what happened? Yep, same gd thing.

So, BW, I'm curious, even amid my vitriol, how are you going to reward the people who stuck with you the last 8-9 months, levelling alts and getting legacy level to 50? Nothing, amirite?

  11. Anyone here unsubbing?

And GW2 was developed for a F2P model so why compare it.

Annnnd theres nothing even related to "p2w" with what they said. Subscribers get a silly mask or chair or jawa that no one in the world cares about! F2P get 1 to 50 for free (it takes less than a week to get to 50).

I'm upset with the fact they made us pay for 8 months, who have supported the game by giving their hard earned money then they give us a big slap in the face and say F2P

I already unsubbed back in May, but because I drank the kool-aid and have been suffering from a severe case of over-confidence (I bought a 6mo subscription back in January), I have continued to play out the rest of my subscription and be as supportive of BW as I can. 1.3 gave me the impression they had realized the error of their ways and were working to fix things. Couple with this the departure of "Teams of Stun-locking Operatives will make people unsub"-boy and I actually thought BW might pull their chestnuts out of the fire.

Instead, I have just completed the purchase of GW2 (which probably won't be the savior of MMO's either, but I flat out REFUSE to reward BW's buggering of the IP and the subscriber's goodwill/trust with additional money).

  12. QQ? Mmmm seems you think your entitled to something but you are not. Good luck don't let the door hit ya where your mama split ya. :wea_03:

Actually, if he, like me, pre-ordered/purchased SWTOR, he IS entitled to something. Namely, a product worthy of the money he paid. He, like me, obviously feels he did NOT receive a quality product for which he paid and that's something only he can decide.

  13. funny thing is...I don't know. I'm not claiming to be a great pvpr. In fact as a commando, i'm always shut out when I come across a sent/mara. I either have to stun then run OR just die and hope I take out enough of their life so I can comeback and finish them off. However, reading many pvp posts about sents/mara it seems that there actually is a way to defeat them. It might be only for slingers/snipers but there is still a way to counter them (rock-paper-scissor). So like you I would like to know what the secret is because when it comes to fighting mara/sents, I'm in the dark as well.

I'll agree that GS/snipers seem to be the hard counter for maras/sents. And that's why I'm seeing 4-5 sniper/GS's every match in the 10-49 bracket (I don't do 50 pvp, too many aug'd WH's who aren't as good as they think they are and can't cut it in rwz, so they stomp around in the kiddie pool of 50 wz where a large amount of us are still largely recruit geared)

  14. it's the whole rock-paper-scissors thing.

a lot of people either just don't get it, or refuse to accept it.

The only problem with a rock-paper-scissors thing is that when it's only ROCK & SCISSORS and no paper, things AREN'T balanced. And that's the whole problem with FOTM. One would think that either a) in sufficient numbers things would balance out in the end or b) we'd reach some sort of homestasis.

  15. With that little of an expertise difference that sounds about right for rail shot. And honestly they really don't have that much defense, and not a lot of CCs either really unless you count the root on Plasma Cell.

To OP, snipers are sliding into FOTM status slowly but surely as people use them to hard counter sents/maras. When sents/maras get their nerf though (I agree it's inevitable though I'd prefer everyone else just get buffed with the kind of defensive cooldowns they get), then who becomes the new king will kinda depend on what else happens when Sents/Maras get nerfed. Sniper's will probably still reign pretty supreme for a week or two as the mara population dies, though a few brave ones will stick it out. Ops/Shadows might be attractive as hard counters to snipers. If Commando gets some good utility we could see them take a big step up too. All depends really.

I strongly agree with this. Certainly, in 10-49 bracket on my server, the sheer number of GS and Sniper players I'm seeing (sometimes as many as 4 or 5 per team per match) is annoying. Whether or not it's related, I don't know, but there seems to have been a DECREASE in the stealth class players and subsequently (again, at least on my server) the 'Flavor' of 10-49 pvp is solo or duo sniper/GS teams defending doors/nodes freeing up the other 6-7 players to zerg other objectives quite successfully.

  16. For good pvprs mara/sents aren't difficult to figure out but to casuals they are quite difficult to defeat. Sadly I believe the majority of SWTOR players are casuals simply because this is a star wars title. They don't necessarily have the time like some of us to figure out the class. Because of that I think bioware will realize that(with the help of reading one of the thousand QQ posts about Mara/sent) and make a serious nerf almost like the sorc nerf that just made them a nuicense instead of an actual threat.

So explain it to us 'baddies'. What's the secret?

  17. Objection. Outlaws den had no underleveled people. It was just level 50s during pure standoffs and making pushes to outposts.

But he has a point. Tat and Alderaan are the two planets that are THE LEAST restricted area wise. Add Hoth in there too, which is maybe why you see periodic world pvp there as well.

You'd think BW would take the hint....

  18. MMORPG.com would be a great site if they quit letting the inmates rule the forums. Being a themepark gamer there is akin to a kick me sign. It is commonplace to hear themepark gamers taunted with Carebear, ADD, Not a real gamer, sandbox MMO gamers are more mature/smart/etc.

Which is fine if you are allowed to flame back.....that isnt the case however. I have the bans over the yrs to prove it.

The TOR forums there are the worst of it. If you enjoy this game, forget about it. Sandbox games n GW2 seem to be the only ones where moderation will play an active roll. You will be trolled by the same 30 to 50 folks, in the TOR forums, and there is nothing you can do/say. Seeing as this is the same site that invited PRECioUs whining to the boards though, I guess it shouldnt of been a shock.

As I said, if you arent a GW 2 fanboy, or sandbox gamer, you really have no place on the MMORPG.com forums. Which is a shame, as that place could be so much more. It wont be as long as moderation uses a biased stance.

Dont get me wrong, everyone should be able to throw their opinion/constructive criticism on a topic. After a while though, it is obvious a person doesnt like a game, and at that point it becomes a matter of trolling those that do play/will be playing. They refer to it there as "forum PVP", and maybe I would of liked the forums more if I was willing to engage it that behaviour to live games I dont play, or intend to play.

That said, I think it is childish, and no way to run what should be a professional site for ALL gamers. Not a select few. The comments I remarked about are fair game on MMORPG.com forums. If you dont care to be labeled as such due to your enjoyment of themepark gaming, that site will cause ya issues.

Do as ya will, but if you do enjoy TOR, and wanna see it grow, MMORPG.com TOR forums are bad news for this game, or most any themepark game for that matter.

MMORPG.com is a great site for MMO news. The forums there are populated by anonymous wannabes.
