  1. As ridiculous as someone using a 7 year old game in their defense maybe? You do realize that EQ1 is still releasing expansions and STILL has followers correct? So before you go and say it's a dead game that no one cares about, it's still active and valid.
  2. I've had a WZ pop every 10 minutes at least on Krayiss Obelisk on Empire side. It's probably your server. Also I do believe Bioware will probably come out with Server clusters to PvP with to pick up the queues. People need to give them time to work this stuff out. WoW and Rift went through this when they had low PvP queues, now Bioware will probably do the same as well. Just don't expect it to be over night.
  3. Looks like it's time for you to unsub and go outside for a few months. Come back when there is "more to do." If you've already achieved all of this, have you tried the PvE side? Do you Raid or just PvP? I have seen the PvP community in just about every game go through their gripes about lack of content, queue times, and stale PvP, because that is literally all they do. They refuse to PvE, which is also a large focus of the game, and end up bored. I'd say seriously, cancel your sub, go find another game for a bit, come back when you are bored of that one, or not at all.
  4. It will get worse before it gets better too...just think of all the kids that will rage and re-roll.
  5. This isn't a release only issue. You can't fix faction imbalance without limiting player choice. This is going to be a long standing issue for this game. Not sure how Bioware will handle it, but Empire will most likely dominate a lion share of the subscriptions like every other MMO. Most roll the "evil" or "non do gooder" side. Happened in WoW, happened in Warhammer, happened in Rift, it will happen here. People will just have to cope with the faction imbalance. Rather re-roll Empire or just deal with the Empire zergfests in the PvP areas. The one way people tolerated this in Rift was to communicate on the forums and transfer to a specific shard to balance out the population. This was only doable though through Trions exceptional free server transfers though. So don't hold your breath on Bioware giving anything out for free. 5 dollar pre-launch access....nuff said.
  6. Sounds like this game is suffering the same issue Rift did with open world PvP. Too many "defiant" Imperials that the PvP areas have become a boring zergfest. It got so bad on some servers in Rift that even full 20 man pre-mades were getting trumped by 50-60 defiant and chased out of world events, and daily areas. I know it got so bad toward the end that you literally could not step out of a porticullum in 50 areas without getting annihilated by some zerg pvp guild camping a 50 town. So yeah I feel the republics pain on this one, and quite honestly it's why I rolled imperial. I'm not making the same mistake twice.
  7. I can't wait for more QQ about faction imbalance. I already see republic crying about not being able to do Ilum due to the numbers of empire on most servers. World PvP is generally unbalanced and boils down to who can mob up more. You bring more to the battle field you win, so it becomes less about engaging pvp and more about zerging and camping.
  8. When they do implement server transfers I hope they do them ala Trion and have them be free. I have a hard time justifying a price tag after how easy and smooth Trion's server transfers were with no charge. Not to mention they were once a week and to just about any destination as long as the server wasn't full.
  9. Drinking Cosmopolitans and saying everything is fabulous?
  10. Because Server Transfers allow you to transfer to your friends that may have moved to another server. Server transfers may have taken blizzard years to implement and throw a hefty price tag to it, but Trion had server transfers available with in the first few months of the games existence AND made them FREE. I don't understand the logic that server transfers are bad....
  11. Ah thanks man, didn't even see that.
  12. Can we be expecting server transfer capability soon? I am on what seems to be a dying server, and there don't seem to be too many people playing in the evenings. Yeah I know it says standard, but I am super hard pressed to do much of anything with anyone outside of guild anymore. I'd also love to be able to transfer to other friends. Will we be expecting this feature any time soon? Also will you take the customer friendly Trion approach and allow free transfers once per week, or are you going to go the money grabbing Blizzard way and charge an arm and a leg for transfers?
  13. I refer to my point above... No company is going to down play Blizzard, because Activision would slap their Peepee and all the WoW kiddie fanbois would riot.
  14. Just about every major gaming site does this. If the company has the money and the popularity expect them to get a great review on all their games, because their company is probably funding that gaming site. I don't know why people honestly care about what some other supposed gaming professional thinks. Make up your own opinions and just go from there.
  15. Yeah that's what people like him do.
  16. if you are losing money while slicing YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.
  17. Pretty much the way I look at it. I understand people want something they buy to be 100% what they like and with 0 faults. Unfortunately that's not always the case with video games. I've played a large number of the MMOs that have been released, and all launches are similar it seems. It all looks like this: Kids whine because they can't get or didn't get what they want Kids flame and troll the forums once they are gone Game finally finds its player base 3 months or so after launch Community plays the MMO and are better off without all the whiners We just have to wait out the spergy WoW kiddies and all will be well.
  18. There are still tons of servers with good pops, and tons of people playing. Tons of guilds still raiding, and tons of fans still making blogs and fan sites. I have not heard anything about them shutting down any servers atm. Nothing official from Trion themselves. So not too sure where you are getting your info from. Besides, even if they did, it wouldn't be an issue, because their servers are too numerous for the amount of players they have. It will only help the remaining community if they collapse a few of them. I think they are still rocking about 500k subscribers, which is still a fair amount at the end of the day. As long as a few servers are still up and they are making a profit enough to still churn out content it's good enough for me. I still raid in Rift, and it's end game currently kills WoWs end game.
  19. LOL Rift is still going strong and has a decent player base...I hope the game ends up like Rift tbh...We get rid of all the annoying WoW kiddie whiners, and we get a good community...seems like a win win in my book. Also love how people think Rift failed, when it is still going pretty strong. It may not have 13 million sperging *******, but it does have a solid community, and it is a great game.
  20. Old rag's mechanics are laughable to today's standards. What you are talking about is an artificial road block, a grind implemented in the game that was designed to be a progression wall. If you didn't have the fire resist it was an issue. Having to gear for resist is not a difficulty check, it is a gear check / grind check. So the proper term would be it was more time consuming, not difficult.
  21. Young players? Most the community in Rift are old WoW players and EQ2 raiders. It's filled with some of the most senior MMO players that I've known. Also they've completely reworked a lot of class mechanics since launch and much the "similarity" is gone. I played wow for 6 years before I quit for rift, and I'd have to say I thoroughly enjoyed most the raid content Rift put out.
  22. Yet the encounters difficulty pales in comparison to Rifts Akyilios fight. Gotta say, Rift is starting to come out with much better end game content that WoW is producing.
