  1. There was another post similar to this about addig a new playable class. I think adding a third advanced class is really the most feasible way for SWTOR to add additional classes.

I would really like to see classes that can buff groups or debuff enemies to make everyone else stronger. This utility would add another aspect to the game. I think Rift did this nicely with a bard class. I think they can do damage (at a reduced amount like tanks do) and in return they provide healing to the groups or additional damage. They could also reduce damage taken, increase healing received, provide speed increases or other features that would make them worthwhile for a group to bring along.

This utility tree would only need to be one tree for the advanced class and you would still have a shared tree along with either dps/healer/tank third tree.

Something similar to the OPs reverse hilt user that could provide some damage but also adds like a gore debuff for the entire group or reduces the damage a boss does in addition to standard tank moves.

Inquisitors could use melee attacks as someone else mentioned and provide extra group benefits.

Bounty hunters and agents could provide technology that could buff the group and cause them to take less damage do, more damage, run faster etc. Instead of doing damage like the force users to apply their benefits they could provide benefits through healing or be able to heal in between their buffing abilities.

I think this would make group dynamics much more interested and different as well give SWTOR the ability to do new and different boss mechanics.

As mentioned the utility tree would likely only be a single tree and you could still just be straight DPS on you weaponless inquisitor or reverse hilt warrior. The BH could use blaster rifles etc etc.

TLDR: I would like to see utility classes/trees in SWTOR.

  2. Can't buy a purple power crystal on the GTN. Gotta pull it from non-Warrior Columi gear. I'm not talking about disassembling, which is a variant of a greed roll, I'm talking about taking something to mod-rip because you want the crystal or enhancement (which have no main stat.)

You aren't entitled to every piece of loot with your main stat on it. I wouldn't roll against anyone for a companion, but if I'm running a FP for a specific drop I intend to use, I don't care what other people there feel my priorities should be.

You realize you can just use a crit crystal and then swap out a mod or enhancement that has power with one that has crit right? Then you get the stats you need and look you want.

  3. The easiest way to add classes would be through adding a third advanced class to each of the four "main" classes for each faction.

You could have an advanced class that specializes in melee combat or vibro/tech blades, you could have a force user that dots and debuffs enemies. you could have an buffing/support class that just makes everyone else stronger and assists DPS, tanks, and healers. The flip side as I eluded to before would be a damage dealing boss debuffer that supports through those means. Rift had classes like this with bards and clerics. In a star wars settings you could easily have an agent/bounty hunter that probes/adrenals/stims individuals that could increase their energy regeneration or damage output or make increase their healing received. Force users could do minor damage that leaches hp to the entire operation and provided benefits by doing damage or has some other greater benefit. Their damage output would be lower but they would have other benefits that would make them valuable.

By using advanced classes there would not need to be much done in the class story lines or voice acting cause it isn't an entirely new class. They could even still change the energy/resource mechanics much like sorc/sins have similar yet different resource management. There is nothing stopping them from changing your resource mechanics based on advanced class. Someone also mentioned a nearly all healing class with maybe 2 healing trees and 1 dps shared tree which could be done in the confines additional advanced classes.

  4. Affliction is recruiting healers and DPS right now if you are still looking for a guild. Our operation nights for progression start at 11 EST on Wed/Thursday. We run operations every night at 11 EST and have a lot of alt runs going as well. Our guild website can be found in my signature block or you can send me a whisper in game or speak to anyone else in Affliction.
  5. Completely wrong. Creeping terror in 1 gcd will outdamage 1 thrash in one gcd using less force. "When you are out at 30 meter range?" How about anything out of melee range? You are wasting a one gcd as you move and that is real damage lost right there. Preference is preference, but this is misinformation. I hate keeping track of CT but it is not a dps loss to take it.

This is especially true with the extra 30% surge on dots (which i am assuming is the only reasons you go up to 28 points in darkness). Also dot crits heal you not that its terribly important but it is something. Energy shouldn't be a significant issue so dark embrace doesn't seem to be helping you much especially since you can't use blackout therefore it only helps if you vanish and at the start of fights. As mentioned creeping terror is actually one of you best moves from a DPGCD (Damage per global cooldown) and DPF (damage per force).

  6. He's not mischarged. He's off tanking. If you are struggling on any HM flashpoint that is probably why. If you are a tank and cannot hold threat against an off tank you are a crappy tank and should quit. The only way your failing is not knowing where your taunt button is located on your keyboard.

Instructing your healer not to heal your off tank is dumb. If I off-tank for you I run a 23/17/1 spec with a shield. I can usually keep myself alive along with more party members by taunting random stuff that heads to healers/ranged dps. I can help take pressure off your sorry under geared tank by grabbing threat when you or the PUG healer you are rocking get screwed up. I can hit 5k crit hit mauls. I mitigate a ton of aoe damage. I can fade out/in to allow the healer to breath a minute in a 4 man group to catch me and resume dpsing.

But ya. Tell your noob healer not to heal the off-tank in a 4 man HM flashpoint. Tell him to run a pure dps class because you don't know how to off-tank/dps.

There is nothing wrong with a tanksin rocking dps gear rolling in tank stance. Does it "always" make sense. No. Does it mean I need to explain to every pve "rockstar" how my tanksin will more easily help a group accomplish the exact samething, just slightly slower on the damage, with reduced deaths for the group?

Apparently, judging by this thread only special needs players use an off-tank in pve.

Where did the OP say he was struggling with the HM flashpoint or maintaining agro? In fact he mentioned that an off-tank shouldn't be needed with a good tank and he said he was okay. He never mentioned wiping to anything at all. You are assuming a lot from his post that simply is not there. Any half competent group can do any flashpoint with no deaths and you sir are just slowing them down with this off-tank nonsense. You're not tanking and you're not DPSing so in my book you are worthless when I can vote kick you and replace with a DPS who can kill stuff faster. Last time I checked you don't que as an off-tank and your role is to either DPS or tank not kinda a little bit of both.

In addition, if you are taking too much damage from AOE as a dps then you are just bad. You shouldn't need to spec into tanking cause you can't avoid simple mechanics. You are joking yourself if you think you are helping your healers by being in a tank stance for a HM Flashpoint.

Yes, only special needs players use an offtank when it comes to HM Flashpoints. Even KP and EV don't need an offtank . Operations are the only time a second tank or an off-tank should ever be used, period.

  7. We are opening up recruiting once again and are looking for Healers and DPS interested in HM TFB and NiM EC. If you are looking for a full time operations guild you found it. We are running operation every night to assist in gearing any new recruits to be able to join our progression teams. We can help you get gear as long as you are a skilled player and want to be a part of the guild. We also have most useful 27 mods and enhancements learned and can craft gear to those who become part of our full time operations teams. As mentioned in the main post we are semi- casual and just ask that players be available for progression nights or gearing nights if they are not geared enough for HM TFB.
  8. the way i understand it is

    Tier 1 Gear

    1st sub tier: Tionese

    2nd sub tier: Columi

    3rd sub tier: Rakata

    Tier 2 Gear

    1st sub tier: Campaign

    2nd sub tier: coming soon

Not sure about you guys and Im not sure if someone else posted same thing but isn't Black Hole gear a sub-set of Campaign? Somehow I have a feeling that there will not be stat improvements just different stat distributions and maybe introduce different 61 mods or enhancements that currently do not have 61 versions.

Im hoping I am wrong because it sounds like they will be releasing new PvP set but Im worried that having a new PvE set and waiting for a new PvP set will not solve the issue discussed with PvE vs PvP weapon hilts and barrels currently.
