  1. Hey folks!

I'm a Bounty Hunter in the 40s and recently tried PVP for the first time. The game has been running smoothly overall, with the occasional drop in quality in highly populated areas; however, my experience with PVP last night was quite literally unplayable.

I lowered my graphics settings to the absolute minimum and tried once more today, and I still only get a vague idea of what's going on. It is too choppy to play PVP at the moment, which is very disappointing considering PVP is one of my favorite aspects to any MMO.

I'm not making a "Rawr! Bioware your game is too intensive!" thread or anything like that, I'd like to solve my own problem, but I don't have a huge amount of computer know-how to know what is causing the problem. I don't want to get a completely new machine, but I'm willing to upgrade a few choice pieces if it will increase the quality of the game.

So, if any of you happen to be pretty computer Savy, would you mind taking a look at the specs below and letting me know where I'm hurting? I'd appreciate it!

(PS: Posting what I thought might be the most relevant info to cut back on DxDiag Spam, though if something else is needed please let me know!)

  2. This happens to me from time to time as well. At first I thought it was some kind of lag on my part, but it seems as if it isn't. I think this may be part of the "ability delay" problem that a lot of people have been up in arms about. I believe Devs are looking for a fix - they've said they are, anyway.
  3. First, seems like force users have some kind of aoe knockback which sends mobs flying around everywhere. Now, not a big deal but if they are ranged mobs it means they went from being nicely clumped up to spread out everywhere so that I cant easily hit them all with DFA, Flames or AOE missle. I hesitate to ask people to stop doing anything since we arent wiping but maybe I should start?

Second, There are a ton of ranged mobs with blasters, missles, etc. At level 20 I havent really gotten any abilities to make ranged mobs move closer (and its compounded by above). Im tab targetting and can easily regain aggro on these mobs but I cant get them nicely clumped up together for AOEing. Ie. we arent getting a whole lot of splash damage on ranged mobs so fights last longer than they should. Anyone have suggestions on this problem or is it just wait til you get XYZ ability?

I've also noticed a problem with other players knocking something out of my ability range. I haven't brought it up yet, just because I'm still low level (20's) and I understand still playing around with my abilities. Once we get into higher levels and crowd control becomes a bigger issue, it may be something to bring up. By then though, I imagine everyone will understand the need to be careful.

As far as the second question, I believe we eventually get a grappling hook that can pull enemies into us.

  4. Gotta love the guys that really have no clue about the game, but ask such amazing questions. I cringe for whatever guild he is part of.

I didn't find it that foolish a question, considering many other games include racial passive or active abilities. It's not like he asked "I get a retractable light saber, Rite?"

  5. I am pissed over the waste of my time, because BW has deemed it unnecessary to inform its customers of when they -may- get invited in.

So I spent hours on the first day looking at the forums and the inbox wondering when my invite would come, but finding no clue other than "after the people who preordered before you." I already knew that, as you idiots keep pointing out- I knew that from the day I preordered. I am sorry if I seem "self-entitled" for thinking BioWare would have had something else to tell me three months later.

I'm not entirely sure they knew themselves exactly the amount of pre-orders that would get in and on what schedule - and since that information is now available to us, I imagine they chose to release it to address concerns like yours.

I think they started this whole process two days early as a compromise for what would, by its nature, be a bit of an unpredictable launch. I think it was a good compromise, but that's certainly debatable.

  6. Right. And people feeling pissed off is really what matters in whether they're going to cancel or continue playing. It doesn't matter if they're actually justified in feeling a specific way. As a business (EA), it's your fault for advertising in a way that makes them feel so. No amount of saying "you should have read more carefully" is going to fix that. Actually, the amount of fan **** that's being *********d on the forum seems to only be making the matter worse.

    Maybe that's the intention, though.

No relevant amount of people will allow this to influence their decision to subscribe, because most fully understand what "up to" means. People are attempting to lay aside the obvious to try and justify their frustration - that's the only way I can understand it.

  7. Let's get this out of the way first for those of you with even a hint of ADHD with sprinkled in bouts of NERDRAGE....

tl;dr = Game company spends millions to make a well polished game. Game company offers 5 days early access to pre-orders in order of purchase. Game company gives an ADDITIONAL 2 days to make launch even smoother and give us more FREE time. Gamers QQ and rage for some unknown reason....?

Explain this to me, those of you who apparently feel cheated ( /facepalm) over early access invites. Bioware plainly and VERY simply stated that the earliest pre-orders would be the earliest ones to play in Early Access. Key verb usage here, so follow me on this one... "Up to 5 days early Access". Pop quiz students, who can show me in the simplest mathematical terms what that means (Spoiler: x <= 5 with X being the actual days you get early. No no, dont thank me yet)

This game has undergone years of development, and while it may not appeal to everyone, they are certainly entering some uncharted territory as far as MMO's go, and history has shown that Innovation without proper implementation and planning = A dead game (Aion, Warhammer, AoConnan, ect).

Basically, Bioware has to get it right, the FIRST TIME (I.e. Launch)

They can open the floodgates on day one and let the masses crash their servers to the ground (KILL IT WITH FIRE!!) or they can potentially upset a few self-entitled fanboi's so that they may achieve a much more fluid and successful launch.

On the subject of Self-Entitlement though....I'm really drawing a blank on this one. It was plain as day here...the earlier you Pre-Order, the sooner you got in. And for those of us who Pre-Ordered much later, WHY SO MAD? Honestly, Bioware is giving TWO MORE FREE DAYS. It means instead of the 4th or 5th day of the 5, it will be the 4th or 5th day of 7. If you ordered late, it is entirely your own fault. Bioware isnt at fault that you spent your monthly allowance on buying BF3 or CoD:MW3 ( Lulz to those of you who got CoD, but I digress), or for buying Skyrim with your paper route money instead of Pre-ordering earlier (Level 49 bishes).

In short, I'm a grumpy old man, and you damned kids need to get off my damn lawn. And stop QQing.

    Merry Christmakwanzakah

I really don't understand it either. I've read multiple threads trying to understand why this is "the worst launch ever" and how it could possibly "tarnish the game forever." Some of them are needless and silly QQing from people who can't express anything more than "Me Want Now. Give." Others seem incredibly intelligent in their attempt to rationalize frustration, but it seems to be essentially the same "Gimme gimme gimme" attitude.

It doesn't matter. I'll likely be in tomorrow morning, and I'll never look at a thread on this topic again. People saying that this "injustice" has completely ruined their gaming experience are highly likely to do the same.
