  1. For a 4/6/31 Assault spec I should be getting the Eliminator PvP gear, right?

     

    Also, what augments should I be getting to best maximize DPS? Should I use augments for this or maybe use some defensive augments or is this a waste?

     

    Can anyone explain how min/maxing works? Like, is it fine to leave the War Hero Eliminator mods in or do people switch in and out their mods in everything?

  2. Speeders are slow because BioWare doesn't want you to explore the small selected regions they created for each planet.

     

    They want you to "think" they're big but they are not. So they made speeders slow in this game.

     

    Sadly, I'm sure this was their logic.

  3. Gonna have to agree.

     

    There was around 100 or so people on the Republic Fleet last night but I heard other servers now have way more at peak times.

     

    It's crazy this game still doesn't have paid server transfers. It's come to the point where I wouldn't mind paying to have the freedom to choose which server I want.

  4. The engine can do whatever they make it do. They have full access to the engine's code. They reportedly only picked the Hero Engine because they really liked the development tools it offered, not for its completeness.

     

    Are they stuck with current limitations because of the engine they chose? Nope, not in the slightest.

     

    I'll believe it when I see it. So far most updates are just small, instanced content like new warzones and flashpoints and some graphical settings like high-res textures and improved shadows which should have been there from day 1 anyway.

     

    Give us some open world PvP, cross-server PvP, anything with a large amount of people in an area without 10 FPS and then I'll see they are making progress with the engine.

    It's funny, because a day/night/weather cycle for planets would probably seem like a "back burner" feature to add from EAware's perspective. They'd rather dish out more warzones and flashpoints. Yet if 1.5 introduced planet cycles that would probably garner the biggest round of applause more than anything they could add otherwise.

     

    It's the little things that count.

  6. It's a heavily modified version of the Hero engine and the game can look good maxed out on a good rig but the engine is still way too limited. For instance, the engine couldn't handle Ilum, whereas a game like Guild Wars 2 can handle a huge WvWvW scenario with hundreds of people. TOR will never see something like this. Not because the Devs don't listen, but the Devs are simply crippled by the limitations of the Hero engine, so even if they wanted to do this, they can't because the Hero engine doesn't allow them to.

     

    Kinda crazy the budget this game had, and they end up skimping on the most important part of the game for its future. IMO, they should have used a modified Unreal engine similar to what they used for Mass Effect. That would be epic.

  7. I do not agree with the comments of "Deal it's an MMO". Yes it's an MMO, but more importantly it's a game.

     

    You may not agree with it, but it is what it is. That's why they call these games Massively Multiplayer Online. This game is practically hemorrhaging subscriptions and pre-merger everyone complained about lifeless worlds and joked about how solo and single-player the experience is. Now they merge the servers and you people are complaining there's TOO many people? It's ludicrous....

  8. Why do you play it? Because cool kids play it or because you enjoy it?

    I enjoy it, and do not care if 1.7 million or 600k people play it with me, as long as there is new content coming at a decent pace.

     

    I spend my free time and hard earned money on this. I don't want to continue playing a game that is dieing and publicly stated as a flop by the company.

  9. The only 2 things that should stick out to everyone are:

     

    1. 500K - 1 million subs... great job breaking this down, lol. The fact is it's likely this game has lost 1 million subs since its peak. That is just... amazing.

     

    2. EA has basically come out and publicly admitted TOR is a flop and that they are rejoicing that BF3 has offset it somewhat or else they would be in even worse trouble.

     

    This mixed with F2P this Fall... it's tough for me to want to continue playing this game knowing it will never catch on and be successful.

  10. I love how they are putting a positive spin on this while shoehorning in all the awards they won back in 2011. :rolleyes:

     

    It's also disgusting that they are trying to get as many people to pay for a subscription now before it goes F2P by giving out awards and items if you sign up now.

     

    And I thought SOE was bad...

  11. I've found that once you are geared the 8/2/31 spec that I linked below is the best possible option. The Reflexive Shield talent is KEY to having decent surviability, and the loss of about 10-15% armor penetration on High Impact bolt is negligible. With this spec you should be stacking Aim augments.

    Combat Tech or Eliminator?

     

    Also, wouldn't Degauss be pretty useful when combined with Reflexive Shield considering PvP is nothing but stuns and roots? Could take the 2 points away from Nightvision Scope.

  12. If you're fully decked out in BM / WH Supercommando that's augmented how good is the survivability in PvP? It has to be VERY GOOD for me to consider it because my damage will be terrible, and it shouldn't be great, but I should be able to withstand a good amount of damage while guarding, taunting, and generally defending nodes or bothering healers with debuffs and stuns.

     

    If the heavy DPS users can still take me down without too much trouble then it's not really worth it for PvP. Can a WH / BM SuperComm Tank comment on their survivability and effectiveness in PvP?

  13. Pre-1.3, A full shield spec Vanguard that tanks could do a hybrid setup where they don full Combat Tech gear for the 4pc bonus to SS so they could take damage and dish it out for PvP. Or you could get Supercommando and remove all the default mods and replace with CT, but this was more expensive/time consuming, but the best setup for min/max perfectionists.

     

    Now with 1.3 and the nerf to SS, is the above still viable, or are Shield Spec Vanguards better off getting a full set of Supercommando now with the default mods OR go Combat Tech but better of speccing to Assault?

     

    My damage was pretty iffy pre-1.3 with SS and Ion Pulse being by heavy hitters, but it seems BioWare is trying to eliminate hybrids so you either tank or DPS. I'm fine and actually like guarding, taunting, debuffing, AoE, and annoying opponents. I might not be able to take down many foes in 1v1, though.

  14. Geez, I only have 2 pieces of Battlemaster and I'm already sick of the grind, I don't know how people manage to acquire a full set of War Hero and not die of boredom.

     

    Let's face it, grinding for gear sucks, and while the random bags are gone, it's still very boring. GW2 has it right where everyone doesn't grind for gear, it's more about teamwork and skill and with off-hand switching you can be multi-purpose right off the bat.

     

    As it stands, it's a very bland end-game, at least for PvP'ers. Def need ranked wz's and cross server battles, and perhaps some incentive for actual open world PvP.

    Keep in mind I'm using a triple monitor setup at a resolution of 6030x1080 and imagine the bezels. The chat window is in the lower-right hand corner of my left monitor, and my map/missions/etc. are in the lower-left hand corner of my right monitor. Doing so reduces as much clutter as possible on the center screen.

     

    Hotbars are optimized for the Razer Naga and how the mouse's macro keys are set up (four rows, three across). I still haven't redone my actual hotbar abilities so don't pay attention to that for now. :)
