Here's the solution I propose to the PVP Gear Bag Situation.
- I'm under the assumption level 50 blue gear was removed recently. If it wasn't, then go ahead and remove it.
- Centurion PVP gear is purchased with warzone commendations. It should take a fair amount of commendations to purchase the gear. Smaller pieces should be 500 commendations (ear, implant, relic, bracer, belt, etc.), main armor pieces should be 750 (chest, legs, head, boots, gloves) and weapons should be 1000. The exact values are not as important, I'm just throwing some numbers out. Main point is it shouldn't be as easy as the blue gear was to attain.
- Champion Gear Bags should give champion commendations that you use to buy whatever champion armor you want. No randomness, no duplicates.
- Battlemeaster gear bags should give battlemaster commendations that you use to buy whatever battlemaster gear you want. No randomness, no duplicates. I believe this change is slated for the PTR soon.
What this will also do is allow fresh 50's to get decent gear (centurion is ok, but it actually is a pretty big step under champion. It's a larger upgrade when going from centurion to champion than it is from going champion to battlemaster) relatively quickly so they don't get rolled so badly by the fully geared 50's once the 50's bracket goes live.
I for one can't stand the randomness. I went 4/8 in my first 8 bags and now I'm 0/12. Even despite this, it is faster to get CHAMPION gear than it is to get CENTURION because of the random gear drops. It should not be faster to get tier 2 gear than tier 1. That is just wrong.
Thanks for reading Bioware. I'll send you an invoice for my consulting fee shortly after the change is implemented.
