  1. I may be wrong, but IIRC at the beginning of the Agent story isn't there an NPC you can flirt with who actually treats you different if you aren't human? I seem to recall that as a chiss the flirt didn't 'work'. I think things like that are tricky. You'll get a lot of people who will throw hissy fits about being led on. See for example the half-romances with certain party members that don't count as actual full romance paths. I think it could b interesting. However, it does create a few questions. Namely, with all the possible looks and personality choices for players is it going to seem a little off that apparently none of the capable beings of all shapes and sizes and colours parading by this dude or chick is going to attract their eye? But as I say, I don't see why not. I've always kinda liked Kaliyo for acting, as I tend to put it, more like a PC themself might act. It's be nice to see some more individual will with these characters.
  2. I'm not sure about this whole single-player vs MMO thing. I will admit freely I never wanted to play this game at first. The idea of playing with other people around to pick out my mistakes and call me a gaming n00b terrified me. But I decided to anyway, because my desire to continue the story of SW overruled that fear eventually and I wanted to know what could become of my Bounty Hunter or my Agent or my Jedi. *My*. Quite frankly, gameplay/story segregation is in full effect to me. I may be running around with ten other Jedi who look and dress like me, but that really doesn't mean a whole lot storywise. Talking to quest-givers doesn't hint at the thousands of other people they've handed that same goal to. So the issue of how one person plays compared to another is really not all that relevant, in my mind. Just like there are no weird looks about the fifty Mako clones on-Fleet. They don't exist to your character. There's one Mako. One Kaliyo. One Quinn. In a meta sense, sure, it's not a single-player game. But in your character's world, you are that single player. Least that's how I see it. As for romance, well I haven't done a lot of it. My main, an Operative who's so lightside it's painful, is very much a homosexual male, with an 'acceptance' for females when the job requires it. So in that regard there's not a lot I can do with him yet. Even if there were SGRs that doesn't mean I'd take the option just because it's there. Has to fit what 'he' would be looking for, not the idea that 'I' want to giggle over the idea of two blokes making out on the couch (which I don't btw).
  3. Depends. There might not be an actual rotation for Op healers, but general rule of thumb is pop two kolto probes on everyone because they can activate your tactical advantage which allows instant heals, and stim boost which increases energy regen. That's, if you have a full group, 8 kolto probes each with a 30-ish percent chance to grant Tactical Advantage. I've been in quite a few places where my only actions have been kolto probe - kolto probe - if tac ad ticks use stim boost. Rinse and repeat throwing in diagnostic scan to top up people's health and Surgical Probe if necessary. In anything but harder flashpoints and the operations this is about all that's needed. Ideally, an Op shouldn't be using Kolto Injection very often except as desperation heals. If you're attacked Shield Probe can help, Countermeasures reduces threat and then Evasion can increase your dodge by 100% long enough for someone to pull them off you. You also have Debilitate to stun.
  4. This. With the fury of a thousand Sith Warriors. Darkside of course. I mean Kaliyo makes some pretty blatant passes, but that's sort of her hat. I always found it funny that in games where optional romance exists you get entire forum threads of 'I wanna bang [X] right now!' and people can be as creepy as they like, but when the tables are turned and an NPC they don't like hints at attraction it's 'omg get it away!' C'mon guys, these gals n guys have (virtual) feelings too! Flirt prompts are great, but I can say for sure even if my male PCs were interested in another bloke, or female to female, some of them wouldn't in-character voice it. A little interest from the other side first would be nice. Especially since the 'on my signal' safety of the current romances kinda makes it look like the PC's putting all the effort in. .... I also want to see companion interaction. Although some of the anecdotes are kinda nice, let's see it firsthand hm?
  5. Male dancer outfit. Bioware, make it happen. Gender equality, hoo-ah! Operations are fun for eyecandy, if the mass naked dance parties on completion still happen.
  6. It's no less hilariously awkwardly bizarre for a male agent that doesn't flirt. Oh good lord. 'Let's talk about what we just talked about once more in a dark corner so we can fill our 'creepy intel vibe' quota for today'. I really honestly want Saganu for male IA. I really really do. I would've taken him as a companion over Temple in a heartbeat... Speaking earlier of unfair romances in other classes though:
  7. I admit I had reservations, but they were mostly about the chiss being incorporated at all (I am a chiss fan through and through however so I am still glad I can play one). Simply because it's hard to then erase all evidence of them to the point where not one Republic race in the later eras would know who they were until even after Thrawn's time (the only three humans outside Palpatine and certain others to ever meet them obviously kept quiet...) For instance, notable Jedi often live well beyond their lifespans in holocrons, records, legend etc. so what about the chiss Jedi people play? Or Sith? The non-Force classes are easier to explain away. I'm assuming the Empire and the Republic are virtually dismantled between TOR and the movies and the chiss just retreat back to where they began. Which could fit, when you think about it. Mutual near-genocide would do wonders to bring a xenophbic attitude like the movie-era chiss have. That said, even before Thrawn there were chiss in the galaxy - Nuru Kungurama for one, a young chiss Jedi. As to whether they work as agents, well, the relationship between the Ascendency and the Empire seems strained. See the sidequest on Balmorra and Imperial chatter on Hoth. They are allies, but they aren't friends, so I can certainly see defections from the more desperate ones.
  8. Yeah, The Powers That Be. Sorry, spend too much time on chatboxes in RP forums Well, considering my main agent is a lightsider with severe personal space issues... not really a good thing to have a psychotic stalker, no. I only have two characters at 50 so I'm quite lucky. But they're mostly all towards the end of act one at least. I just figure if worst comes to worst I'll just have to 'replay' the same character. That'll be harder with some classes than others.
  9. Pretty sure it goes vice-versa. I visit this thread maybe twice a week, and it seems every time I do I see another identical response from TPTB. Well. Unfortunately it's too late for my main agent if we have to do the whole 'stop at this planet for a gay old time' thing. He's just going to have to be shunned and alone. Poor guy. At least he has his darkside stalker in my headcanon.... That's probably not any better.
  10. These stories are awesome. I always love to see the kooky things people come up with. So I guess I'll pitch in with my nearest and dearest - my first Agent.(with cameos from trooper, smuggler and consular! Complex relations tree go now!) Name: Skathe [Alias - real name unknown] Age: 27 [unconfirmed] Species: Chiss Origin: Csilla Occupation: Imperial Agent - Operative [Formerly Chiss Military Officer] Current whereabouts: Unknown Known History: The agent known as Skathe is a steadfast Chiss loyalist, requisitioned from their military by Imperial Intelligence as part of the alliance and re-trained as a covert field operative. Little is known about his early life, but it is known that his father was previously an intelligence agent himself for the chiss, which may explain Skathe's rapid ascent in rank. Though recent revelations have revealed the agent to be a troublesome if skilled individual. Sometime during his career - exact dates are almost impossible to pinpoint - he became involved with an assignment to assassinate a promising young Jedi padawan. Despite not being fond of the Republic or the Jedi, Skathe owes no particular loyalty to the Empire itself either. Upon discovering the Jedi was merely a child the agent turned on the rest of his squad and falsified a report of overwhelming retaliation from the Jedi situated on the planet. As this information has come to light only after his disappearance, no disciplinary measures were taken. Skathe is known to have several 'Republic' allies - though all of these have since revoked their allegiance to the Republic and taken a neutral stance. The smuggler Jonae Vedek became longtime partners with the agent after Vedek's transport to Dromund Kaas for trial - which Skathe was aboard - fell victim to a pirate attack travelling through Hutt space and crashed on a nearby planet. The resulting scramble for survival and passage offworld seems to have struck a friendship of sorts, and Skathe retained Vedek on grounds of a potential informant into Republic activities. The other ally is in fact family. An ex-Republic Trooper named Aethal, Skathe's half sister from the one-time affair of his father and a human woman. Raised in the Republic, neither sibling had any knowledge of the other until a chance meeting across the firing lines. Unsatisfied with her role anyway, Aethal abandoned her unit to join her brother in the Imperial ranks - though like her sibling she has no fondness for the Empire or the Sith. Before his disappearance Skathe was reported to be on the run from a fellow chiss agent - a sniper going by the alias of 'Grimshaw' who according to Intelligence went rogue some time ago. What exactly the connection is remains unclear, but by all accounts Grimshaw retains some psychotic obsession with the other agent as well as a manic urge to kill and manipulate those in his path. The more outlandish claims suggest Skathe and Grimshaw once had a romantic relationship that ended violently when Grimshaw left the Empire. Personality Traits and Description: Skathe stands at roughly 5'10''. His red eyes, medium blue skin and dark blue hair mark him instantly as chiss, and he carries himself in a manner that suggests constant alertness. He is average in build, sharp in the facial features and has a long scar crossing over his right eye - reportedly from early military life and an encounter with a desperate enemy's vibrosword. He has been described by colleagues as the consummate gentleman, never shouting or showing disrespect but always firm in his opinions and decisive in action. He is polite and self-sacrificing - traits which sometimes attract trouble in this line of work - but his disarmingly friendly style makes him unrivalled in information gathering and persuasion. Unfortunately, his reluctance to execute enemies has been known to result in added cleanup for Intelligence or the resurfacing of threats considered dismantled later on. To the irritation of said colleagues, he is apparently not above sarcastic remarks when he feels the need.
  11. I do like this idea. My only thing would be that if you like one companion as a friend but want to romance the swappable it forces you to choose between two favourable paths. That said, I would be delighted to be able to swap out some never-used companions with others. I'm still a bit miffed we don't get a chiss companion at all. Would've been an interesting chance to learn about one of the more mysterious races of SW, as well as a talk-point for IAs and BHs. (but that, again, is my personal adoration of the blue folk coming into play) And it has been mentioned several times that there are more pressing fixes to make - we aren't debating that. Some of the bugs are downright aggravating. But this thread is about SGRs, not what the highest priority on the fix list is.
  12. I can see the logic in that, though at the same time there are people who might well stop playing if it's implemented. Extremism is a wonderful thing. But I think the benefits far outweigh anything else. I think Dragon Age spooked a lot of players. They felt pressured into SG romances (particularly with Anders as I understand it). I can't say I ever felt that way myself as the flags were very clear, but then I also know some people don't pay a lot of attention to what dialogue they choose.
  13. Well, I'm not going to swerve either way in my opinion until I hit January 2013 and there still is no sign... or until the world blows up in December. At that point I'll probably be a bit irritated. As it is, I pay very little attention to in-game romances at the moment, mostly because it limits my RP choices to factor them in. Going by the agent romances stops me from living out my headcanon (in which both my male LS and DS agents - one bisexual and one leaning much more toward gay - are in a power-struggle romance involving agent-y things like headgames and mutual stalkerism) since it doesn't really allow any hint that the Male PC might be up for guys anyway. As for bisexual companions, there are definitely some hints. I mean some I just couldn't see, but certain characters like Kaliyo and maybe even Doc (overemphasis on women hiding bisexual inclinations out of insecurity?) I can definitely see it.
  14. This one's from a while back, got some better gear not long after. Pretty basic really I don't tend to like the helmets so I just toggle them off. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr192/RevenantNihlus/white.jpg[/img]"]http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr192/RevenantNihlus/white.jpg
  15. To be honest, anything the male agent says when he takes on that half-lazy 'I'm surrounded by idiots' drawl just makes me grin like a fool. And yes. That accent. I'm British myself and I still love that accent of his. On the very few times I actually selected flirt options? Oh. My gosh. When his tone drops just that little bit lower. I really could listen to Carvel reading the phonebook and come out of it thinking 'best book ever'
  16. This.... So much this. Absolutely convinced he's a closet masochist. "So everyobody we have a lethal mission into enemy territory. You're probably going to end up brutalised and maybe even dead. The payoff probably isn't worth much to you personally.... so.... any volu-" "I'LL DO IT! 8D" Especially when it's a full-frontal assault. Dude you're a spy, what are you doing kicking the enemy's door in and striking action hero poses? Get your cute blue butt out of the firing line, dolt. Another point to male agent: The (sadly now deceased) chuckle he did in combat when a TA ticked. I enjoyed that way more than the female version. (And I thought about Black Widow but I figured it was too obvious )
  17. Full romance. It's got my female warrior in a tizzy because she's halfway through Quinn's and suddenly Pierce comes along and it's all 'hel-lo sailor.' Male!Agent will gladly give you Watcher Two, shall we arrange a swap-meet? But then, I see potential SGRs in all sorts of weird places. Even some of Jadus' lines struck me off-balance. Probably his delivery but his lines always creeped with 'I want to do strange things to you' vibes. I know I'm re-rolling a new agent in the near future, possibly sniper though I'm so used to op now it might be a bit offputting. Espcially lack of act one healer. But I still haven't played BH cause I want some fem!BH SGR.
  18. Hear hear! I miss that sexy chuckle dammit! It's funny, I didn't even realise he did it at first since I use music playlists over the game sound quite a bit and the voices only just break over it. My media library was updating one day while I played and all of a sudden *thwack!* 'Hahaha' ... 'Secret-agent-man, was that you?? Do it again!' I miss my chuckle. It made the agent seem so confident. The new sound makes me think unpleasant thoughts...
  19. Especially since mine doesn't seem to use his charm all that much I think it's much more easy to play a male agent as completely oblivious, because the female sounds more to me like she knows she's sexy.
  20. And of course it's nice that the agent isn't a very obvious expy of someone from the movies. I think that really helps set them apart since we really didn't see much of the actual Imperial officers just doing their jobs.
  21. Oh lord I could gush about the IA storyline all day. Hooked from day one. And yes, the flirts in the male storyline were ridiculous at times. It was like...at least one per planet! I was gutted in particular that females got to flirt with Saganu... but not my poor male agent. He was deeply disappointed let me tell you. Well my JK is with Doc, but I really want the ability to hook my male warrior up with Pierce. I can't recall holding off for romance option reasons as of yet. I haven't actually engaged many romances at all. I wonder then if they'd get all the conversations at once then, or if the affection meters can be reset.
  22. I find being called 'he' much more hilarious than I should. Especially when talking for the first time over Skype and it's like 'Oh God you're a girl!' Fun times. Oddly enough, I almost always play female characters in gender-choice games. Didn't feel right for this one though. Of course I do still very much enjoy my female SW so it's all good.
  23. Ah, now see I come here and I feel like a minority because I adore the male agent's voice. Bertie Carvel stole the show for me. I find Jo Wyatt...okay, but to me she always sounds like she wants to hump who she's speaking to. For a lightside, chaste (except for mission reasons when required) agent as I rolled her voice didn't match up for me. I play my agent, Skathe, as a homesick anti-Sith, anti-Jedi chiss agent with a screwed up mind and a penchant for being cryptic. With intimacy issues because I seriously doubt any agent who does what Cipher does is entirely sane. But it's not only that, I think his voice has more depth to it. There are times I swear his voice cracks at the sadder lines, and that makes it more awesome. Plus his snark is understatedly glorious. Downside is, I can ONLY see Carvel as a chiss agent. Whereas I can see Wyatt as any race. Versatility goes to Jo. Effect goes to Bertie. As for romances, well, I didn't pick any of them so i can't say anything about that. ...Of course the obvious answer below all that (and less seriously) is I'm a shameless woman and manbutt is much better to have to stare at for hours than girlbutt.
  24. You, my friend, have just made my week. Anyway, why I love IA? I think the Babylon 5 analogy is spot-on. (awesome show btw) But I'd add that the agent to me has the most bittersweet story. Especially with the lack of glory and obvious payoff. In short, the IA is alone. The sense of isolation as the story goes on is gut-wrenching, and the agent I think suffers more than any other class. And just gets back up. With no Force help. No sponsors. No Sith. Just a few companions, and I kinda got the sense even they never fully understood the agent. In particular there's one moment on Voss, one short moment, that made me ache. So sad if you think about it. Of course, part of any story here is headcanon. But either way the agent's entire existent is tragic in a sense. ...And of course there's the whole James Bond IN SPACE thing. I got hooked on my Op from the very first moment, and I've never since then gotten so attached to a class so quickly. Also. Bertie Carvel. That voice makes every second awesome for me.
