  1. 10 million subscribers?

Yes it did, it saved them thousands of customers who swore they would leave if wow implimented a planned upgrade to their forums.

See, I was referring to an actual issue: Blizzard had the hairbrained idea to link a customers real name to their forum account. They thought this would somehow clear the forums of spammers, the customers who used those forums didn't want their privacy invaded and swore to leave if Blizzard did this. A minority of them actually did leave. After three days and thousands of posts about the issue Blizzard apologized for the idea and blew off the idea.

A company listening to it's customer base is always a good thing. However doing every single thing it's customer base wants.... not so much.

I agree that WoW is the bohemeth, but their subscriber base has been dwindling. I used to play WoW. You cannot say that WoW is not on the downslide. Look at their latest expansion.

  2. This game will probably have it's own kind of addons. That's almost a given. It will be up to Bioware what kind of information the api allows addon writers access to and that'll determine what kind of addons we get.

One thing I would like is more customization. I like choices on the layout of the UI. I would like to be able to increase the font size of txt without having to decrease the resolution, I'd like to be able to make the buff/debuffs larger and or move them where they could be better seen. These are things that are done easily with certain addons.. and things that would have been nice to see in the launch product.

I disagree that we have to leave it up to BW, true in the end the choice is theirs to make on the future of their game, however as paying customers we shouldn't be silence when we would like to put in our two cents. A smart company will listen while a failure wont.

Hmmmmm WoW listened and look where it got them.

  3. That would depend on what kind of currency you are using.

Unless you're using some kind of underworld currency, I would imagine my purchase and subscription is equal which gives me right to equal say. Unless of course you didn't purchase or subscribe then your opinion doesn't really matter. If you did buy the game and subscribe then you are getting some enjoyment from the game too which makes your arguement irrelevant.

If your parents paid for it. Then you need to get a job.

  4. There is a silent majority that diligently pays their monthly subscription for what they enjoy. WoW is a non-factor since TOR has brought novel concepts to the mmo world. Parents that pay their child's subscriptions are minor compared to the adult gamer and the monetary loyalty they will show to a game they enjoy. TOR has managed to bring gamers from every genre to at least check it out. Love it or hate the choice is yours. I trust the developers to take me on a journey that has yet to be explored. As an experienced gamer, that's what I hope most for. I'm actually excited to see what Bioware's developers come up with as we travel through the story of The Old Republic.
  5. Well... I would be just fine dealing with lag, crashes, queues, etc. All so I am on equal footing with everyone else having the same problems. If you're fine waiting until everything dies down so you can have a smoother experience, that's great, but why should that be at everyone other person's expense?

Not at everyone's expense. The pre-order was available in July. Did you pre-order then? I can't tell you what to do, but I know as a guild leader I need to be informed on all AAA games. Sounds to me like you need to do a little more research to be prepared.

  6. er... although I don't in anyway agree with the original poster of this thread, as it is basically just another whine thread.

your statement is also untrue, as I know of people who pre-ordered in July, who are in-game as we speak, but I also know of people who ordered and redeemed in August 24th, who are in-game too. however I have a friend who ordered and redeemed in July (End of July) and redeemed his code the moment he got home, who is not in-game due to no invite,

So I'm not sure how they are inviting people, but it isn't "I redeemed my code first" just a FYI there.

Not sure if that's true. From what I understand, the 5 waves they did today were the first day of pre-orders until about 2p since there was a mass pre-order influx the first day. According to what the official post says, there was a dramatic decrease after that so the date ranges for the EGA should cover a much broader range from that point forward. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

  7. Yes it does make sense, but it also make sense you have to wait until all are inside before they start the film. This is not about standing in line anyway.

what EA have done in this is selling the same seat over and over for the same show, and now they are telling us we have to wait until the one sitting in your reservation is done before they let you inside.

In short they sold more tickets than they have room for so they spread it out over 5 days, but instead of telling you when to come for the show they tell all to line up and wait all 5 days, if you dont you miss your call.

Bioware want to reward people that gave them funds early, fine enough, but the pace they are doing it is turning the preorder point for a digital delivered game pointless.

Im glad this happend, it have shown me that to preorder any game from EA is pointless and a waste of time and energy, today i have canceled mass effect since they have a multiplayer version in that game i asume the new trickle in method is going to be used for that game as well.

I can just upgrae the game after a week or two if i find it good and recive the very same items in game as those that handed them money up to 6 months ahead of time.

The reality here is that in past launches, there were ungodly waits in the queue. On top of that, the servers may go down, sometimes for over a day during launch. Then you lose your place in line. Nothing like being 10 min away then the servers go down.

This way. No one loses their place. I think it's Bioware's hope that the TOR servers won't go down while we're getting the free days before the official launch. It's a much better system imo.

  8. I feel it is our solemn duty, all of us, as curators of the culture of Star Wars: The Old Republic to make sure that none of us ever forget today; the Day Cylak Didn't Get int.

Cylak should be remembered for all time as that guy that didn't get in. He should be immortalized in all servers, at all places as that Guy who Didn't Get In.

Cylak needs to become our Leroy Jenkins of Illiteracy.

    Make it so, internets!
