  1. She tells you in her first conversation that she'll faithfully pretend to be a dark side apprentice, which is why I assume she does it.

I absolutely hate it, though, on my LS Juggernaut. I kept wanting to tell her: "You know, you don't really -need- a battle cry - can we try slaughtering in peace and quiet?".

On the other hand, maybe their pain really was that exquisite - it is an odd power she has...

  2. I thought the story was pretty good - not great but not bad, either.

The prologue was probably the best, to be honest. Becoming an apprentice against all odds, and then the way the prologue finishes was really great.

Act 1 I I thought was pretty strong as well - each planet had at least one really high point and the climax was well done, even if you saw it coming.

After that, I guess it depends on how you feel about Thanaton. Personally I thought he was kind of a putz, but he was a real sneaky jerk, I have to give him that.

  3. Not all classes get to marry their companion, it just depends on the class/companion.

If it's any consolation, it doesn't make any difference. You don't even get to see the wedding scene, it's just a fade to black.

On the bright side, you won't have to give her half your stuff when you dump her in an expansion, so there's that.

  4. I think the easiest way to explain Ashara is that she's a cross between Fan Service and a Creators pet.

Honestly, they should have given us a dark side pure blood female apprentice, like Thana but not so insane, sometime after Act 1 ended (and well before Xalek), given us Ashara as a plot element (not a companion) who you either spare (+100LS) or kill (+100DS) at the end. I vote she looks and acts like the research girl from the class quests on Voss.

Then ditch Xalek and give us something else - I know I wouldn't miss him.

The whole thing about corrupting a padawan to the dark side was done perfectly by the SW. Because of that Ashara just feels like a bad sequel.

  5. This seems more like a bug that happens if you leap out of her firing range or LoS, instead of running over she just freezes and eventually teleports...it's cost me a few deaths against tough enemies when I wasn't paying enough attention to what she was doing to pop ward.

This was my impression, too. It seemed to happen more often when I leaped at max range. There was also the case where sometimes she would attack the wrong group if I was too far away for her to join me.

There's also an issue where she picks a target that isn't yours, and is further away, which can trigger it.

I try to get closer before I leap to make sure she's in range. The less thinking she has to do, the better.

  6. The way I figured it was Quinn really got caught between things he had true loyalty to.

On the one hand he owed Baras, on the other hand killing you is a blow to the empire and to his relationship with you.

Baras ordered him - so he had to try. So, instead of -really- putting an ambush together, he put one together he knew you could defeat, or at least you could possibly defeat. His duty was done to Baras and he still remained loyal to you.

At least that worked for my LS Juggernaut - he chose all the honorable options as related to Quinn - not sure how that argument works if you're a complete heel to him.

Honestly, though, I totally missed the Voss thing - I must have done it late at night and I figured it was Baras it was talking about, so I brought Quinn with me to the fight as he requested. I was literally stunned when it happened. I had to get up and take a walk afterwards - I was really upset about it.

Only way I can figure it (besides we had to win in order to finish the story) is he did that intentionally. No reason he couldn't have brought a dozen more droids to the fight.

  7. Have to agree. I read in the leak sites that there existed at one point something called a 'kit', which I presumed would let you customize the abilities of the companions.

Seems pretty straightforward to implement a 'healing kit', or an 'aoe dmg kit', or a 'tank kit', which fit into the companion slot and changed their abilities. Makes more sense to me than the 'stances' they have now, which you have to kind of find on your own - they aren't even explained anywhere.

  8. Please do... Made the same mistake today not knowing I couldnt romance her as being LS i'm 100% pure light sided sith and want to stay that way... Having (LS) Jaesa Willsaam romance-able is the only reason I will continue on my warrior if not i'm just gonna let him collect double XP untill they make her be able to romance.

Seriously you should not pick to play or not play based on a "romance" with a particular companion.

The "romance" is literally 3-4 conversations and a fade to black. Oh, and 3 letters.

And it's not even 3-4 additional quests - if you don't romance her you just get different ones, or variations.

If you romance her, it doesn't change anything, which is one of my biggest gripes with how they're doing it. She won't call you her husband while you're running around with you, she doesn't move into your bedroom on the ship - nothing. Vette is still telling me to get any Sithy thoughts out of my head - heck she was encouraging them just a couple conversations ago!

Jaissa LS is one of the rare companions who gets a 'crowning moment of awesome' - someone who really develops and matures as a person. It was a great story and I enjoyed all of it.

  9. I had many UI bugs with her where the shock collar would appear even though I had taken it off - I submitted several tickets on it. In cut scenes or sometimes just running around.

I read somewhere it was an issue if you didn't use a customization, but I'm not sure.

As others have noted, though - you can't advance her story when she's a slave. She -really- hates that collar.

  10. On Zash and Thanaton as a corruption sorcerer, I always tried to hold aggro as long as I could.

You have an ability (forget the name) to lower threat on a target - use that on your companion to keep Thanaton on you.

If you are a melee class, use your ranged companion and make sure they stay back. Knock him back if you have to using overload.

If you have aggro and he drops force storm on you, you're the only one in it, so you can just run out and let him channel it while you or your companion whale on him.

The key point is that Thanaton, like Zash, has what I refer to as a "companion killer" ability, force storm. If your companion is in it, they'll die very very fast, because they are so incredibly stupid. For that reason, you shouldn't use Khem, since he's going to want to tank, and you can't tank Thanaton like that.

I put Ashara on passive when the fight started (I use her since I'm ranged - melee types should use Andronikus), build up aggro on Thanaton for a bit, bubble and heal then send in Ashara. Every so often I used the aggro dump ability to make sure she didn't pull him while I kited at range.

Make sure you run out of force storm - it will wipe you out. it has a slow on it as well, so run early.

I interrupted the heals since I wasn't worried about force storm.

He has some big attack as well, i just healed through it or used my bubble. If you aren't corruption, you may want to interrupt that and let him heal - it's not that big a heal.

Make sure to keep Affliction up on him - it does damage while you kite him around and it's instant cast so it's easy to keep up.

I thought this fight was pretty easy as a healer, since force bending means essentially infinite force. I feel for melee types who can't heal.

  11. Can't be turned = Strike One

    Isn't Bisexual = Strike Two

    Slave-Dress doesn't work = Strike Three

    Fix this please. :D

Yeah, I noticed that too - what is the deal with the body suit she wears? I thought it would be super cute if she wore a halt top, like Jaissa starts with, considering her skin tone.

But, no, she's wearing some full body suit underneath.

Even my female gets to show off her abs, and she's a pureblood. Who apparently does a -ton- of pilates.

  12. I gave up on my assassin because I hated the whole stealth into combat thing, which just seemed to take too long. Much easier to stand at range and just start hurling lightening.

I did actually have to kill every mob between A and B, though - so there is that. Not that I minded killing things. Khem seemed to enjoy it, too.

  13. I find it mind boggling to think Ashara joins you out of fear. She incredibly self-confident - what kind of person walks -alone- to talk to a Sith Lord with a hulking Dashade behind them?

Later on she's certainly aware you can beat her, but is she afraid of you? I never got that impression. She actually chastised me in one conversation for saying I'd vomit if I had a Jedi master.

If she was afraid of you - you give her countless opportunities to escape - heck you probably send her on dozens of crafting missions -by herself-, with travelling money. If you let her, you even let her go on a pilgrimage to Alderaan, which is a republic planet.

No way she can't escape if she wants to.

And did anyone else wince about how she never mourns the deaths of Master Ryan or Ocera? How it barely even registers with her?

And is any of what happened really her fault? She led a Sith Lord, who by the way they must have know had dome some incredible things, directly into a trap - they knew you were coming and had time to prepare. She actually handled herself pretty well for a padawan.

It would be different if they let players put a shock collar on her, but they don't - its made clear she stays with you of her own volition, voluntarily.

What's never made clear is WHY she goes with you, WHY she stays with you and WHY she actively helps you destroy the only way of life she's ever known.

The only semi-plausible explanation is if you used the holocron on her, which in my opinion a very tenuous theory. If you didn't, then nothing about why she's with you makes any sense.

  14. Ashara gave me almost nothing in conversations (good or bad) until Belsavis. Starting at Belsavis I gained a ton of affection with her - many conversations would have multiple +40s in therm.

I got the impressions she was "sulking" until chapter 3 starts, but it could have been another trigger.

This is as a LS female who hit 10k affection with her shortly after Voss, so 8k in 2 planets.

  15. I learned early on to automatically shift my camera left or right as I got near loot or quest objectives because of this issue before I clicked.

it's a problem with all companions, though he's among the worst (glares at Broonmark).

My advice is just to zoom out as much as you can and just get used to shifting the camera a little as you loot - after awhile it becomes second nature and you don't even notice the issue anymore.

  16. As a tank you probably want a full DPS companion to burn the mobs down as quickly as possible while you soak damage. Tank + healer companion = no DPS = long fights = more damage.

Don't be afraid to use your defensive cooldowns - use them early and often - you get a bunch of them.

I'm thinking the only time you'd want a healer companion is if you are full DPS spec. Even then a tank companion might be better in most cases. There might be some exceptions depending on the fight, how many and what type of mob. every time i used a healer they spent the entire time healing and did exactly zero DPS, even when i was at 90% health. Your companions aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed.

I haven't been impressed with companion healing, to be honest. Gear probably plays a part in that, but they don't seem anywhere near as powerful as a healing player. I wouldn't mind a helpful bounty hunter loaning us Mako for a couple months so we could perform a longer, ahem, test, though.

Talos is available, as I recall, pretty early into Hoth, so 40-ish? Kind of late to the party.

  17. LS 50 female SI. I only got +24 for republic memorabilia, and even feeding her higher ranked versions netted very little over 24. All of Taris and Quesh she gave nothing for any conversation or light/dark choice.

I bit the bullet and fed her rank 1 gifts until I hit 2k and then gave up in frustration. Took probably an hour to get her that high.

Everything changed at Belsavis and the end of chapter 2. I'm not sure what did it, the new chapter or what, but starting at Belsavis she started giving a -ton- of affection for conversations. I had to dig around quite a bit to find the "right" options, but it seemed like almost every question had a +40 hiding somewhere. I had a bunch of quest completions with over +300 for the whole chain. I didn't try DS choices, but she would give +109 for my LS choices.

Got to the point where it was a pain going back to the ship to talk with her.

Affection gain choices never really made any sense to me, I think mostly because the "short" choices on the screen just aren't suited very well to her character. She doesn't like it when you're mean or cruel, so a choice like "you're doing it wrong" might come out really mean ("you're incompetent") or quite practical ("Maybe you should try helping them instead."), you couldn't tell except by trying it.

Another big issue is that Asharra really isn't "light" side per se. The way I describe her is as an imperial Jedi. She really is into honor, duty, selflessness, which seems a bit odd since she's helping kill Jedi and destroy the republic. I kept expecting her to have a soft spot for the republic/jedi and she really doesn't.

I think her character just doesn't make a ton of sense for female SI's - maybe as a LS male her story holds water, but for anyone else I really can't figure her out at all. I keep wanting to grab her by the shoulders and drag an explanation out of her - "Why are you here!!!!!!".
