  1. it seems u never played any flight sim game, and im not talking only for SW flight sims

I don't know.. Does 30 years of Flight Simulator count?? Do countless other flight sims from other game producers like Novalogic count?? Statements like the one above serve only to show what you do not know and how weak your point actually is.. Assuming you even have a point to make..

How about we stick to the topic and not make lame assumptions about people.. You don't help your cause or your argument..

Honestly it seems that you don't know what your talking about when it comes to what I have or haven't played... I suggest you come to terms with that.. ;)

  2. I find 49.99$ a bit step (on amazon, bran news ones are 35$) but my point was mostly that any gamer with a X-360 can have a free reliable controller.

I do think that most TOR players in North America must know someone with a X-360 and a old wired controller they no longer use, thank you Wireless.

I won't do wireless.. Call me old school.. I am terrified of the battery dying during some big important fight.. I call it murphy's law and I try never to challenge it..

I am prolly going to pick one up from Amazon.. They have them for $31.00.. So good call on that one.. :)

  3. As I specifically said, nowadays, you can just plug a X-360 wired controller into your PC to have a very reliable controller.

They sell at what, 15$ at Best Buy ?

BLAH!!! I wish.. Last time I was there, all they had were the ones made by Microsoft for $49.99.. I have a cheap madcatz one now, and it is sorta broke in that it sorta works.. :p

  4. How about you stop attacking the OP over your shiny new toy. He has a right to post his opinion but you seem to be johnny on the spot with what ever he post in both threads.

To the OP the controls on joystick and with keyboard were brought up in beta most beta testers said this seems clunky and slow to respond compare to any space game. To reinvent the wheel into a square one is great just not great for performance. We ended up with the controls we have even after we commented on them.

Did you read my post or just glossed over it and missed the first 90%

I haven't attacked the OP at all.. It isn't my shiny new toy.. Thanks for being insulting.. I also have the right to post.. Did you forget that?? Johnny on the spot?? About what and so what?? Why cares and why do you?? Are you implying that I do not have the right to respond??

I didn't think so.. If you aren't going to read my post, then do yourself a favor and don't respond.. You make yourself look foolish when you are denying the right for someone to post while you are telling them that someone else has a right to post.. Hypocrite much??

  5. 3. That's your opinion....judging from the number of threads asking for js support, BW NEEDS to take this seriously.

    4. This is by far the LAMEST EXCUSE I'VE SEEN. To Say "we're not adding it because someone with a js MIGHT have an advantage is BS. Someone with a 12 button mouse & gaming keyboard MIGHT have an advantage over someone with a 3 button mouse & standard keyboard. Someone with a high speed cable internet connection MIGHT have an advantage over someone with a med speed dsl connection.

And to say they don't want ppl to have to buy a new accessory....GTFOHWTS....This is the same company who sold a swtor themed keyboards & mouse. So you telling me that the company who has sand for sale in the cartel market:rak_04: that can only be used on tattoine wouldn't seize the opportunity to make a Swtor themed joystick for $40-50 that ppl would buy without hesitation?

We ALL want GSF to be successful....so how about we stop "pooping" on ppl who are simply asking for an additional way to control the ships so maybe WE can enjoy the addition as much as Y'ALL do.

You are comparing a mouse with a mouse and you want to call what I said as being lame?? Do you even know what a controller is or what it does?? I would hate to think that you don't.. But if your only example is that a mouse with more buttons is better than a mouse with less, then you either no nothing about a controller or nothing about GS.. I'll let you decide..

Yes it is the same company that sold a SWTOR keyboard, mouse, and mouse pad.. That nobody was required to buy.. Your point being.. Because so far you haven't made one..

Yes we all want GS to be successful.. Adding controller support isn't going to make it successful.. I am sorry if you just can't deal with sound arguments based on actual facts and information..

You have compared a mouse to a mouse.. Complained that Bioware had Razer make a collectible keyboard, mouse, and mouse pad.. As if either of those things actually amount to a point that is based on logic.. Also, making a themed joystick is irrelevant.. You are totally missing the point here.. Bioware doesn't want to add something that would require people to buy something to play.. It isn't an issue of whether some would or not.. I am sure some would.. Would everyone?? Probably not.. There in lies the issue..

Judging by the number of threads.. There actually hasn't been that many.. Not to mention, the OP of this one made two threads.. Do we count these threads as 1 or 2?? You also can't count the ones before launch because they were before launch.. How can someone have any kind of an opinion on what would be better if they have never played something.. I don't feel someone is qualified to make any suggestions if they know nothing about it.. All people say was the demo videos and wanted a joystick.. I guess watching Nascar would make someone qualified to race?? Let alone make suggestions..

The people that want a controller need to address the points that have been made by Bioware, others, and myself.. That is just how it is.. Bioware has already come out against the use of a controller.. Most of the people in the beta came out against the use of a controller.. It is just not something that is needed.. It wouldn't be worth the effort to do..

    Sorry if you disagree..

  6. This point said, I don't think it's exagerrate to except a control scheme for 2013 game similar to the one that was widely succesfull for most spacesims. Or at the very least, a freaking pitch and yaw control.

First of all, you need to come to terms with a simple fact.. This is not a space sim.. It isn't a sim at all.. Any and all simulators will put you in the cockpit or drivers seat.. That why they are called simulators..

This is simply an arcade mini game for an MMO.. That is all.. The controls are highly simplified.. I don't even know how a throttle would work in this.. To completely stop you have to press 'X'.. There is no reverse like there was in Descent.. So would 0 throttle stop you or would full reverse stop you?? You aren't really controlling your ship at all.. You are flying a reticle.. Your ship just follows.. I actually think it would be somewhat awkward to use a controller..

That being said, you still haven't addressed the possible advantages someone might have while using one?? :)

  7. Once again : I played Freespace I and II, deeply enjoyed them. I never played Descent I and II and thought they were rail shooters

Ok.. All were fun.. I played them extensively.. Descent 3 I never actually finished the Single player part.. I played it exclusively online.. I was actually in a guild for that game.. I achieved Demigod rank just over a year of starting..

I used a joystick for the most part, then became a mouser as it was more accurate and faster to control.. It made the mass driver even more deadly..

    :)

  8. Freespace, 1998 game, that I played extensively on CD, is not a rail shooter. I never said that. I thought that Descent One was a rail shooter, but I admit my mistake.

    Ok but..

I stand corrected on Descent One. I played Freespace, not One.

That made me think you were saying that Descent Freespace was a rail shooter instead and that you just got your games confused..

None of the Descent games including Freespace was a rail shooter.. :)

  9. I stand corrected on Descent One. I played Freespace, not One.

Free Space wasn't a rail shooter either.. The reason it was called Free Space.. Or.. Descent Free Space originally.. Was that it took you out of the caves of Descent.. It was still a first person 360 degree space sim shooter.. Just like Descent.. It just took place more in open space, instead of down in some cave..

Oh and that came on CD as well..

  10. TIE Fighter came out in 1994 on floppy disks, and I read once that the engine was programmed by 2, 3 people.

I have it on CD.. Your point being??

Do you believe everything you read??

Even still how is that evidence of a shoe string budget?? The game engine for a game like that would be pretty simple compared to the engine used in SWTOR..

  11. The said games (the Star Wars one) were also made in 1994 with shoestring budgets,, could hold on a floppy disk, and are very often on ''Ten Best PC Games Ever'' lists.

Why it was stupid to except a similar control scheme ? Every space sim featured a similar control scheme, from Wing Commander to Descent Freespace.

Shoe string budgets?? Where do you get your information?? Lucas Arts has never done anything on a shoe string budget.. And when they were made is irrelevant.. X-wing Alliance, that you mentioned came on CD.. I still have it..

I also played the enter Descent series, including Free Space.. All came on CD.. I still have the discs.. I have also played the entire X-wing series.. The only one that didn't come on on CD was the original X-wing.. All others were on CD..

You know the original Flight simulator used a joystick as well.. Back in the 80's.. Stick figure plane and environments, They were first person cockpit view as well.. Go figure..

Because you are trying to force the standards of a cockpit view game on a non cockpit view game.. Like I said, you need to stop comparing apples to oranges.. Not to mention stop making demands based upon your bad attempt comparisons..

  12. Well, as it is, subbers have a huge advange over F2Pers...

Why?? Because we got it first?? Lame argument?? Just try to explain that to Dale Earnhardt Jr. According to you, he is at a disadvantage because a lot of people raced in Nascar before he did.. It should be impossible for any new driver to win.. According to you of course..

  13. For two reasons

1)Usually, flight sims use a pad

2)While early flight sims could have issues with joysticks of poor performance and various capacities, nowadays there is a certain controller that is robust, reliable, work perfectly with a PC and lies around in the millions in houses.....

    http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wired-Controller/dp/B003ZSN600/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1386255344&sr=8-3&keywords=X360+controller

    1) How about we stop making threads about the same topic.. Some would call that spam.. This is the 2nd I have seen from you so far..

    2) Stop comparing games that have a first person perspective and cockpit view to this one.. GS is third person and no cockpit view..

    3) GS does not need joystick support.. It isn't what most would call a traditional flight sim.. Nor is it intended to be.. If your only justification is to compare it to other games that have a cockpit view then you are exposing the flaw in your own argument..

    4) As mentioned above, there is some evidence that people using a controller might have a slight edge over those that don't..

  14. The only ''detail'' are...the controls. I admit freely that I'm not very good at using them-but on the other hand I played extensively games like TIE Fighter/X Wing Alliance/IL-2 Sturmovik with decent success.

Well.. The games you mentioned are all first person cockpit view flight sims.. GS is not.. How about we not compare apples to oranges.. Either that or get a good divorce lawyer.. :)

  15. You are now insulting for laziness just to pump your ego, therefore nullifying your argument.

(is it cool to get your own treatment?)

Actually I am not insulting at all.. I actually used your words.. Well.. Your phrase..

I just wonder when some of egocentric elitists will finally see that not all of us wants those for free..

    Became..

I just wonder when some of the stubborn lazy people would finally see this..

So, if I was insulting, then so were you.. If any ego was pumped and argument nullified it was your own.. I don't know?? Is it cool to get your own treatment?? You are the one that got copied..

    Have a nice day.. :)

  16. They are moaning and groaning now. They can choose, nobody has special goals or treatment and they have painfully long que times. Or tanks and heals have special goals or treatment and the dps have short que times and if they really want them they can play a tank or heals.

They difference is right now their moaning and groaning is justified, que times are too long.

Well see that is where you are wrong.. Their moaning and groaning isn't justified.. This entire issue is player created.. It is hardly logical to get mad at the hammer when you hit yourself with it.

Also you are missing the point.. The point is to stop the moaning and groaning.. Not give people a different reason.. The only way that is going to happen is if people are forced to roll more tanks and healers.. Which if course will never happen.. WOW has the exact same issues for the exact same reasons.. a ton more people than this game has.. There really is not solution to this issue..

I hate pugging because of the retarded DPS that I run in to.. You would think it would be common sense to let the tank do the pulling.. I love it when some moron DPS pulls, then gets killed, and then complains at me because I didn't have agro?? You think?? If they are going to make my life harder, then I can do the same and let them die.. Then go find a group with less morons..

That is also a problem.. There are a ton of DPS that don't know how to play as DPS.. Again one that isn't even addressed in the idea being floated around.. I have a tank, 2 healers, and I hate pugging because of issues like the one above.. So I avoid the GF as much as I can.. I would prefer to run with my guild.. :)

  17. The only time a controller or controller support becomes needed is if we have cockpit view.. Since we have 3rd person like the rest of the game.. We really don't need it and it would be awkward to fly in third person view..

All they have done is take what we had before off the rails.. That is it.. :)

I can't remember exactly where i heard it, probably someone mentioned it at one of the cantinas, but they said that they'll definitely find a way to put it in if enough people want it. And that certainly seems like the case.

They never said anything like that during the closed beta.. What was said is their typical soft no.. 'We have no plans for it at this point in time, but will look into it for possibly being added in the future..' Something along those lines.. Bioware has yet to say definitely about anything.. So I seriously doubt your claim is accurate..

Most people in the beta didn't think it was needed and it would make the controls awkward.. Your best bet is a 3rd party solution that allows you to assign controls to a controller..

Adding a controller to this would in many ways open a can of worms.. Suddenly people would want to use a controller to play their characters..

  18. I had to pay 180 Cartel coins to convert 4000 ship coms to fleet coms so I could buy the other strike fighter. Was I annoyed? Yes, but that's not very much considering. Consider the gambling addicts who put down 7000 to open boxes and be happy.

None the less.. They should have made it free to subscribers and cost for everyone else.. Anything that adds value to being a subscriber is a good thing..

  19. Exactly, so give tanks and heals more character goals that they can achieve in flashpoints.

And you don't think DPS won't moan and complain that they don't have the same goals and special treatment??

Which is probably why no such effort has been made before.. It is really kind of hard to do something for one segment of community and not the rest.. :)
