  1. I took up Slicing. It's the money-generating crew skill. Have 50,000 at level 21.
  2. I think the graphics are fine. You can't expect high-end graphics on a MMO because the vast majority of players are casual users who use Dell PCs with the barest of specs, not powerusers who have full decked out machines. When building a MMO, you have to go where the money is, and it is not in the minority of PC enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the graphics are fine and I enjoy them. So take what you can from that.
  3. A server can only hold so many people before it's overloaded, lags, and then eventually crashes. It has a limit. A server can't hold infinite amount of people. They can divide the server up into instances (Kaas 1, Kaas 2, etc), but this is done to prevent an overabundance of people in one area preventing players from questing due to too many people. You're all still on the same server space. As to why they don't just rain new servers down on us... because if they did that, a few weeks from now when the hype dies down and people are playing in regular intervals rather than "MUST PLAY ALL THE TIME NOW!" mode the queues will be non-existent, and what you'll be left with is a bunch of newer servers that were opened to alleviate queues that are now ghost towns, which will ultimately only lead to worse things for the game than having to bear with a queue for the first week or two of game launch.
  4. Addendum: And don't say you already paid for it, etc. Bioware can't prove that until you actually put in the CD key. Don't put the burden of proof on them.
  5. It's very simply, actually. You pre-order the game and get a pre-order code to register for early access on the website. There's a CE pre-order code and a standard pre-order code. However, the pre-order code does not determine if you actually own the game - hence why when the grace period is up, if you don't input a CD key (CE or standard) the game will be unavailable to you until you input a CD key. Now why don't CE users get their items until they register their CD key? Because someone who pre-ordered the CE and put in the CE pre-order code could very well cancel their pre-order at their respective place of purchase and instead buy a standard edition. See the problem? What if Bioware did allow you to get the items now, before registering their CD keys? Theoretically, player A could pre-order the CE, play early access and get all the CE bonuses, then come purchase day, cancel their CE, buy a standard, save themselves all that money and still keep their CE bonuses. So to protect themselves, they make you wait until you actually buy the CE and put in the CD key. It's very simple and they're not doing it to screw you over. They're doing it to prevent themselves from being screwed over by shady people.
  6. When every thread on the front page was people raging over not being invited yet, declaring that the servers were empty and how unfair it was to not play yet? And now every thread is about Bioware screwed up by letting too many people in and now there are long queues? So first they decide to let people in slowly, to prevent massive queues; then people complain about not getting in. Now, in response to all that, they pretty much let everyone who pre-ordered in, ahead of the whole up to 5 days thing, and now everyone's angry because they feel they let too many in and the server queues are backed up. Will you people just ever be happy?!
  7. Hm, I didn't have this problem in beta, though admittedly I did not get far. It was some time after Taris or Nar Shaddaa, I forget which, we were in the cockpit and we had our first kiss. It all seemed to work right. I'm not that far in live yet, hopefully I avoid the bug!
  8. And you know this because you're an expert game developer and systems engineer, knowing the full details of Bioware's server capacities and how many people are currently in/waiting to get in? Damn, I wish I was as smart as you.
  9. I wasn't bashing you. At all, in fact. Never once in my post did I direct my comments at you. I was referring to the people who had misinterpreted it due to their apparent lack of reading comprehension.
  10. The wording clearly said "You may get to play up to 5 days before release". So, the first key word is MAY. Implying possibility, not absolute. Second key word(s) is/are UP TO. Combine that with the MAY, then it means that if you pre-order, you have the possibility of playing the game from anywhere from 1 to 5 days before release. It's perfectly clear, but apparently a great amount of users lack reading comprehension. Regardless, it was said by SR that it would be a staggered release, likely based on your pre-order date. So how does that make it any less hard to understand?
  11. Because they're little babies who are mad that they haven't been invited yet. My favorites are the ones who complain "I TOOK OFF WORK FOR THIS", although that is their own fault for being so pathetic as to take off from work to play video game that they were never promised would be available to them on that day. It has always been said it would be UP TO 5 days, later 7 days, so unless you were taking an entire week off from work, how exactly were you so confident that the day you took off would be the one you got invited? Are you all able to see the future?
  12. ITT: A bunch of babies who haven't been invited yet complaining that they took off work although no one forced them to do so, especially because they were never promised a specific date they would be invited, ever. Yet they have to blame someone for their lack of understanding (wait, you mean UP TO 5 days means I won't get to play all 5 days?!). Cry some more, we all know you'll be playing and paying within the next few months and you'll be singing a different tune. And I give them an A. Been playing for the past few hours and it's fun. Let's imagine an alternative world for a second, though... imagine there was no early access and everyone was allowed in at the same... I wonder what the forums would be like. Hm... "BIOWARE THIS IS A DISASTER, THE SERVERS ARE OVERLOADED, WHY DIDN'T YOU STAGGER RELEASE? WE CAN'T GET IN TO PLAY THE GAME WE'RE PAYING FOR!! FAIL!" Sounds about right, no?
  13. At least you're logical here. But, it was always said that it would be UP TO 5 days (later changed to 7), meaning you could get in on day 7, or day 6, etc etc. I'm not sure if it was ever officially confirmed, I believe it was, but one could make the reasonable assumption that it would be based on pre-order date as a reward for those who pre-ordered earlier. But, let's say that it wasn't based on pre-order date (which, I think, would be somewhat unfair, but that's not the point here). Let's say it was completely random; gamer A got in today, gamer B gets in on the 18th, with no attention given to pre-order date. That's STILL within their promise of having up to 5/7 days.
  14. Oh really? I doubt that, and I was a pretty avid user of the forums! When I started this thread, it was pushed to page 3 within two minutes, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of rage threads. Pre-wipe, this was hardly the case, and you know it too. It all boils down to the simple reason that a lot of people are upset they weren't invited on the first day, and so they have to vent. That's it.
  15. I haven't called anyone stupid. In fact, I haven't called anyone by anything particularly bad... maybe I said they were brats! But not stupid. I don't particularly like stooping to name-calling. Instead, I like to point out the flaws in their logic. Whether they're complaining about it being a staggered release, or them believing they know right and that not enough people were invited, point is they have no right to complain. You don't know what's going on at Bioware anymore than I do, but I can certainly assure that Bioware didn't stop invites at 2pm and purposefully limit the amount of people in just to piss people off. They clearly have their reasoning, WHATEVER it may be. More to the point, you were never promised 7 days, hell we were originally only promised up to 5 days, and was extended to 7 a week ago. You were never promised a full 7 days.
  16. No, that's the thing, I don't presume to know all the answers. But through the power of reasoning, I can deduce that Bioware isn't doing it to screw its playerbase, whom is very eager to get in. I can make the assumption that perhaps, perhaps, they know something that we don't, being the guys with all the data, the guys in charge, and that they're doing it for the reasons they decided as a company would be best for the game. But hey, like I said, it's just easier to believe they're jerks trying to rip people off.
  17. No, it's a perfectly legitimate response. It sickens me when a bunch of teenagers throw accusations around as if they know better than everyone else, particularly the people who have been working on this game for over half a decade now. Does it make me a fan boy to assert that maybe, just maybe, you don't know everything, and that perhaps they have their reasons for doing what they do? Or is it simply more convenient for you to believe that you're right and Bioware is doing this all to screw you over because they get off on your tears? Hmm...
  18. Because it was already working its way through page three before I bumped it.
  19. But we knew it was UP TO 5 days, later changed to 7 days. It clearly stated we would have a chance of playing UP TO 5 days. Meaning you could get 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, or just 1 day. But definitely at least 1 day. What more is there to know? Nothing changed since then. Some people would have 4 days head start on others, others 3 day head starts, and so on and so forth... but it's only now that the forums are full of rage over it, because they're upset they didn't get in.
  20. You do realize the forums were open since 2008, and only closed a few days ago in preparation for the game? EGA was announced when pre-orders were announced, around July I believe, so we all knew about EGA since July. The same dangers people are crying about now were just as real then. And we knew about the 5-day access for nearly two months now, maybe even more. So what's changed, other than that people didn't get in when they wanted to?
  21. Because clearly you all know better than the developers, right? You're all skilled game designers with years in the game business? Clearly, you're right, why doesn't Bioware listen to you? Damn Bioware, share us the metrics that prove me right!
  22. EGA was announced the same time as pre-orders went available. We all knew about it, hell it was the incentive for many. We later found out that the EGA would be UP TO five days. Then then changed to UP TO seven days. Meaning, we could get in on any one of those days. But there was little to no outrage, as far as I saw, clearly nothing of this caliber. Yet, those same points many in these threads are bringing up were just as valid then: People would get ahead. People would be leveling up without friends. Getting the name you wanted would be more difficult. Server firsts would be slightly harder. None of this was cried from the rooftops, the devs weren't chewed out, and so on and so forth. It was only until the day arrived... and you didn't get your e-mail. Oh boy, that's when it became an issue. So all those reasons suddenly became an issue for you, because you weren't part of the day one group. God-forbid you have to wait another day, maybe two, or three... what-have-you. So now you'll complain, now you'll raise the battle cry and go to war against Bioware, for mucking up everything! Not before, when you clearly knew about what the EGA entailed. Only after you felt slighted, because you're a silly, spoiled, entitled brat. You'll get in. The world isn't over. Calm down, step back, and do something else with your time. It's pathetic.
  23. Someone's upset they didn't get it on day one.... aww, how cute!
  24. There's still 6 more days until launch. Each day until then they will be sending out invites. Stop being a baby. You were never promised the full 7 days, you weren't even promised a full 5 days. You'll get in when you get in, and raving about it won't help you.
