  1. After at least 50 RR runs, I finally got my very first tactical drop. Unfortunately, it wasn’t anything I needed or wanted for my main or my alts. What do I do with this thing? Assuming I don’t want to roll a new alt just to match the tactical, is deconstruction my next best option? Thx.
  2. Thanks. That is what I was thinking. My alts can just go to Ilum/ROTHC and then stop. I love the story elements of SWTOR. I would love it if they made a second big class storyline in an expansion. Thanks for the detailed breakdown!
  3. Is there really only a single unique storyline for each class? Like, once you hit L50 and have (presumably) completed the initial class storyline, and move on to expansion content like Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Shadow of Revan, and the Zakuul stuff, is the story pretty much the same for all classes? To put it another way, if I take my first character all the way to L75 and gear 306, and then want to start a new character - purely from a story perspective, is there much purpose in taking that second character into the expansion content? Or will I have pretty much seen the same story via my first character? Please and thank you.
  4. Sorry for the dumb question. I don’t study abilities, damage outputs, GCD cooldowns, etc. as much as I probably should. I just picked up Volatile Strike as my first real Tactical (vs. Krall’s Accord). The description states that “ Veiled Strike automatically critically hits targets affected by your unexploded Volatile Substance and triggers it immediately“. Am I correct in interpreting that to mean that I open with Vol. Substance, and then instantly follow up with Veiled Strike ASAP? Or do I still need to wait for Vol. Substance to “settle in or a few seconds” before activating Veiled Strike? Please and thank you.
  5. Are amplifiers the only "special" thing about the new Onslaught armors? Currently, I am wearing all Ossus Masterwork gear. I like how the set looks, and I really like the set bonus on it. I have recently hit L75 and am just starting to dig into upgrading my armor. Upgrading the various modification slots on each piece seems like business as usual, but is there anything special about the new armor shells besides the amplifiers? I'm just wondering if I would be spending tech fragments (and credits) on the new armor shells pretty much just because of the amps. To put it another way - if I didn't care about amps, would I be missing out on anything else if I keep my Masterwork gear equipped and just keep upgrading the modification slots to get to 306? Or am I missing something? Thank you!
  6. Thanks, all. I still don't really understand the new gear system. I mean, I get what it's doing, but I am not sure what path I (Concealment Operative) should be taking to max out my gear. Do I really need to worry about Tech Fragments now, or is it better to just wait until I hit 75 and get the new gear before I start focusing on that stuff?
  7. Well, I figured I'd be grinding something........
  8. I just logged in for the first time since 6.0 was released. Prior to today, I had been grinding on Ossus to get all 258 Masterwork gear. I had Masterwork pieces for everything except my main and offhand weapons, which were still "Experimental Ossan" yadda-yadda, and I was in the process of collecting Masterwork and Monumental Data Crystals to upgrade said weapons. Am I to understand that, now, I should just scrap all that, and run to the Onslaught content, whereby at L75, I'll get all 268-level gear anyway? Just want to make sure that there's no need for me to hang around Ossus and grind for either type of Data Crystal anymore. Please and thank you!
  9. Thanks, everyone. Even though I don’t need the 258 gear, I, too, have that “completionist” mindset, at least for my main.
  10. Can I skip tiers 1-3 as well doing this? Or do I still need tier 3 gear to skip tier 4 on Ossus? Sorry for the dumb question - I have never messed with tiered gear before.
  11. Well, “massive” may not be the best word. 1200 UC’s & 1650 CT’s. Everything I wear has been built up through GTN purchases over time. So if I wanted T4 gear, I’d need to start buying my way through T1-3 pieces, correct? Seems like I'd burn through those comms and components really quick, no?
  12. I am a solo PvE player with a gear rating of 246. I never do PvP, Warzones or Ops. I have played through CoU, but have held off on advancing until my PC gets upgraded. So I have yet to do ATATC or any Ossus content. But I was wondering - at 246, do I really need to worry about upgrading to Tier 4/5 gear if I plan on doing just story and solo PvE? Or is my existing set good enough for the time being? I have all these Command Tokens and Unassembled Components that I am doing nothing with. I feel like I should be using them on something, but it seems like chasing Tier 4/5 would be a lot of hassle for only incremental gains, given my playing style. Please and thank you,
  13. Thanks, all. I don't know why, but my problem listed above went away all on its own. Now the game loads just fine. However.... Now, when I enter the game, the frame rates start out fine, but after a few minutes, they become horrible. Like, 4 FPS. And all I am doing is crafting on Odessan with a light server load and little-to-no people around me. Again, I have been running SWTOR on this laptop ever since launch, and while I can't max out the graphics settings (using an i7-2670 with 16GB of RAM, and a Nvidia GT 555M), I've always been able to run the game quite smoothly at "medium" settings. Also, if I ever go AFK and the game times out back to the char selection screen, if I try to get back in, the game freezes on the loading splash screen and then crashed to the desktop. Every time. What the hell? Did anyone try loading the old version of DirectX as @boeffman said? Any constructive suggestions are, again, always appreciated.
