  1. Issue is still there, pressing space to skip the hyperspace sequence worked for me.
  2. The actual game developers of SWTOR are like an elite army cursed with bad generals that make bad decisions ending in a swift and total defeat. Developers were crying when Dallas Dickinson and Richard Vogel were deathstar-ing their content. Who's crying now? I guess the players because in the end we are the biggest losers in all this.
  3. SWTOR already contains a lot of gameplay elements from Mass Effect, to the point where its as much a mass effect online as a star wars online game. If nobody complained or got "offended" until now, adding even more mass effects elements wont change a thing.
  4. I have been playing mmos for 12 years, and i only played wow for two months. A good mmo should not be all about endgame, and should not be a wow clone. A lesson that hopefully will be learned after the Rift and SWTOR failures.
  5. OP, you assume that SWTOR going f2p has something to do with GW2 and with the community pushing for it. I think it just has to do with not enough subs to keep it profitable.
  6. SWG was a sandbox but also a themepark. Actually it contained a lot more themepark elements than SWTOR does. The sad thing is that SWTOR fails even as a themepark, i mean seriously, just compare the Hutt palace in SWTOR with Jaba the HUtt's palace in SWG. Revamp the graphics in SWG and it will blow swtor out of the water even on the themepark front.
  7. I have several crafting alts and i tested this across all of them and a fairly large number of items (412 to be exact). While on some characters i got a rate of 12% from 70ish items, on others i got rates of 36%. When i made the average across all of them it was 21.6% so actually better than the tooltip. I had bouts of needing to RE 12-15 items for a success, and that 2-3 times in a row, but also bouts of success from first or second try. Given a sufficient number of tries, the overall percentage is fairly accurate. Its irritating when you need to RE 15 items several time in a row to get a success, but thats the problem with RNG systems and that doesnt automatically mean the system is broken.
  8. Very well written, i feel the same way. I wonder if the SWTOR writers really didnt know any better or they thought thats what Star Wars fans wanted? Still trying to recover from the shock of seeing a common sense post on these forums.
  9. Very true but you are trying to talk sense into people that dont have any, its a waste of time. Im sure a lot of people are disappointed with what SWTOR is, the state of the servers proves it. I think SWG was a masterpiece, and i only played it after NGE. Its hard not be disappointed by SWTOR when coming from SWG, EQ2 and Vanguard. Sadly the time of good mmos is over, at least for now. Even EQ2 and Vanguard are being WoW-ified at least partially. One can speculate on the reasons for this situation forever, fact is this situation is here to stay at least in the near future. Complaining about it will only bring upon you the wrath of the eternally satisfied sheep. As for SWG 2 we know its not happening, but if i can fantasize, i would like a SWG with improved graphics, wouldnt need SWG2 then.
  10. I noticed today that i failed green crew skill missions, several of them not one. I have two characters with maxed crew skill levels and failing green missions never happened to me before this patch. I wonder if this was intended, and if it was, why it isnt in the patch notes. The next patch they should change the name of crew skills to screw skills, to more accurately reflect their use and functionality.
  11. I have a lvl 400 cybertech and i cant understand what you are talking about. What do you mean by tank mods, there are aim and strength tank companions, aim and strength tank classes, and as cybertech you can make both aim and strength mods, so whats the problem exactly?
  12. My main is at lvl 400 underworld trading. Something very unusual happened today, i saw a mission for "underworld metals" on my list. Never seen that before so im worried my game is bugged. Did this happen to anyone else? Ok, seriously now, im just curious if they are even considering fixing this issue. Zoning to ship, relogging, sending five companions to do the luxury and gifts missions on the list, nothing works. The list is still full of gifts and fabrics with no metals and its exasperating.
  13. I think they do "get it", most of them anyways. Their problem is that they dont want the devs to be spending resources on solo content because they dont solo. Its as simple as that. They are not stupid, just selfish. Lets suppose they "open" the endgame to soloists....how long before the soloists run out of content again? Not so long. The fact the endgame is not accessible for soloists is not the problem. The fact that there is not enough to do in this game is the problem. Its a very poorly designed mmo where there is virtually nothing outside of the main storyline: Housing, collections, alternate advancement, exploration, a large amount of quests, secrets and puzzles, item variety, all these things dont exist in this game. Even crafting doesnt really exist since its not a player activity, its a companion npc downtime.
  14. 200 million dollars is "financial restraints"? 200 mil and they didnt even bother to design two different layouts (not that it bothers me very much but just saying) I have one question: can you name anything in this game that would justify the huge budget invested in it? But back to your original question: there are too many things that i think are wrong with this game but right now im thinking why do we have to listen to the exact same mob shouts when they agro? For 50 bleeping levels we fighting the exact same mobs that make the exact same annoying sounds. I guess 200 mil budget restraint didnt allow for more variation. Not enough that the game is a minimalistic theme park, most the planets have recycled and reused landscapes, all spaceports are the same. They didnt mark the entrance to the shuttles on the map. Checking and comparing companion equipment and stats is a major pain. Your question was what is the most boneheaded thing in this game, my question is can you name something that is not boneheaded in this game.
  15. The worst trolls are the fanboys and those are present in f2p and p2p alike.
  16. I can give you a counter example: DDO. After it went f2p there was a flood of new content developed and it was not "cash in" content, it was new developed content and lots of it and top quality too. Also you had the option to keep your sub and have access to everything. DDO was a revolutionary turning point in the evolution of f2p gaming. Star Trek online was bought by Perfect World Entertainment, they have a good game line-up and they take good care of their games (new content, expansions, updates etc) so i dont know what you complaining about.....can you tell me what new content has been added to SWTOR? If swtor was taken over by an f2p company that would be a good thing, nothing can be worse for this game than let it in the incompetent hands of Bioware, the clown company.
  17. I doubt your question is as innocent as it pretends to be but whatever, its a good question that is very hard to answer because of the complexity. There is a huge diversity of f2p games out there to which you can add the more recent "p2p turned f2p" variation and they are all very different and thats why its so hard to answer your question. The original f2p games were not free to play at all.....unless you were ok playing without storage space, without good equipment etc. The original f2p games ended up costing a lot more than the p2p games, people spent hundreds/thousands of dollars on the so-called f2p games. Some of these games allow cash-shop currency <--> in-game currency exchange, so people can sell real cash for in-game cash, in this variation of f2p game, some players can indeed play for free but at the expense of spending a lot of real time in boring grinding instead of fun playing, so in the end they do pay too, just not with money but with time. This kind of games are a breeding ground for greed and stupidity, and the main reason why f2p got such a bad rep. Runes of Magic is a notable exception, its a pure f2p game but its not based on a greed model unlike its asian counterparts and real money <--> game money exchanges are not allowed. Last but not least come the p2p turned f2p games, the so-called hybrids that offer a choice between f2p and subscription p2p. DDO and LotRo being the best examples of how this should be handled profesionally. EQ2 and soon to come Vanguard followed the excellent example set by DDO and offer very good options of either f2p or sub-based p2p. So not all f2p games are the same, some are based on greedily overcharging the player (Megaten being one of the best examples), others are online casinos in disguise (Perfect World and Ether Saga), others are offering a very decent and honorable pricing system (Runes of Magic), while others offer a choice between f2p and p2p model with enough freedom to chose the best of both worlds (DDO, LotRo, EQ2, AoC).
  18. You know this doesnt even work? (at least not for me) Going in and out the ship will usually regenerate my list of missions ONCE, after that i can go in and out as many times as i like and the liist wont change. Also most often, even the regenerated list still contains just companion gifts and luxury fabrics, no underworld metals. I have maxed underworld trading several weeks ago and i have yet to see a grade 6 rich underworld metals mission, i doubt they exist. For weeks on end my list contains 90% of the time just luxury fabrics and companion gifts missions. I dont know if its broken for everybody but i can confirm that for some players it is broken.
  19. He was going to the ship to "refresh" his mission list in an attempt to get the missions for the materials he wanted (which usually doesnt happen).
  20. The OP was talking about crafted gear being lesser than commendations gear. The only way to craft better than commendations gear is to get recipes from raids. Its not that someone wants crafted items to be better than raid gear, but crafted worse than commendations and only way to craft something useful being to raid is simply stupid, whats so hard to understand?
  21. He's complaining that he can buy items that are better than what he can craft, therefore Kanana's answer (#4) was right on, because in order to craft anything worthwhile he would have to raid to get the recipes.
  22. Yes and yes, being "extremely unlucky" is "common occurence" in swtor. Yes you are missing the trick of understanding that you should ignore any number that comes before a "%" sign. The number is there just for confusion (and frustration) purposes. You are also failing to understand that everything related to crew skills is messed up Bioware style. I think hell will freeze over before Bioware manages to create a halfway decent crafting system. Take this silly half arsed craft system for what it is or leave it, thats it in a nutshell.
  23. This has become a very serious problem for me after 1.2 I have three alts with underworld trading at 300+ All of them have no underworld metals missions on their lists, and that happens day after day after day, on all tiers. Even if i try to harvest underworld metals 30 lvls below what i need, i still cant do it cuz theres none on my lists. Its definitely bugged, wonder if they working on a fix.
  24. You describe the problem very well. Crew skills are fine for making gtn profit, the problem is they are hardly useful for anything else and that is a serious problem.
  25. There are many things about the whole Crew Skills system that need to be worked on. My lvl 33-40 mission list is all grey, while my lvl 41-48 mission list is all orange, shouldnt be like that. Yellow missions fail often if they are of the "rich" type. Underworld metal missions are almost never on the list, running to the ship and back will produce ONE metals mission every once in a blue moon and its not worth the effort.. The stats on many purple crafted items doesnt justify the mats spent to craft them, let alone the mats spent to RE the recipe in the first place. Last but not least you can get equal or better than crafted items from quests, commendation vendors and light/dark vendors, and to add insult to injury you can get these items BEFORE you outlevel them, while usually you outlevel the purples you can craft by the time you get the mats and RE the recipe. I dont craft to trade on the GTN (couldnt even if i wanted because im on a low pop server). I made alts with different crafts and tried to level them while exchanging items mats and recipes between them. I got them all to around 300 crafting level and it was good to experience the different storylines with the alts, but bad to discover how flawed and marginally useful the whole crewskill system is.
