  1. Hatred and Madness are bottom tier specs at the moment. Carnage has top tier burst, but its mobility is lacking.

All those classes do however also have access to some of the best performing specs. Lightning, Deception and Fury.

  2. Easy fixes

One: Dealing periodical damage increases damage reduction by 5% for 3 seconds

Two: Allows Cloud Mind to be activated while stunned, activating Cloud Mind grants "Make them pay" returning 100% of direct single target damage back to attacker, 2 seconds long.

Three: Creeping Terror and Affliction healing you for 20% of the damahe they deal

Four: Using Phase Walk grants "Just heal to full", increasing all healing received by 20% for 6 seconds

Allowing Force Lightning to be channeled while moving would be of great aid too.

  3. Yo,

I recently started playing assassin (so forgive my ignorance if this is common knowledge). Until now I kept playing sith warrior so I got used to the AOE damage that vengeful slam does high lighsaber damage skills. I noticed that for the sith assassin deception and hatred both offer high attack output so I was wondering which focuses more on the AOE/DOTS aspect and which focuses more on singular enemies and DPS?

Also, in your opinion, which of the 3 assassin subclasses are best in PVE? In terms of both damage and health.

    Thanks

Deception is one of the strongest dps specs currently in the game. Hatred on the otherhand is widely regarded as one of the worst. Deception has a slight edge in terms of aoe, but is worse in every other aspect of the game.

  4. Sad when a melee strike is more effective than a ranged attack from a ranged dps class (Balanced Sage). I concur with the original poster in that we have no true burst (unless you want to go Lighting for a more burst feel but similar dps outcomes. I have to punch 5 buttons to unload my strikes and any one of them can be interrupted thus affecting my rotation and thus mucking up my crits which crit badly. I have been hit with 29K crit hits from Mercs. Some can come in over 30K and the best crit h it I can muster is 13K and that is if I line it up right. Our defensive cool downs are a joke as we are glass cannons. I can be globalled in seconds via chain stuns. Resolve is a joke too. I am a snack for a good sin as the Sage class is like designed to die to a Sin.

Lightning does not really have the kind of burst that we see from other classes. The highest hit I've taken was a 44k concentration strike from a guardian. To get that kinda damage you need to crit with 2-3 abilities as lightning. And agreed on the defensive cooldowns? We have the trollbubble which after the nerf to our utility pretty much only delays the inevitable.

Calling non healer specced sorcs/sages a joke is a bigger insult to jokes than it is to sages/sorcs

  5. After having done a lot of pvp with madness the last few weeks I have found the following:

    1. Our saber strike ability hits harder than our dots, and you can use it quicker than they tick.

    2. My biggest hit was 1/3rd of what a immortal juggs biggest hit was. Dont even think about comparing it to mercs.

    3. In 4.0 I had pressure damage, now I have fluff damage.

    4. A kittens fart has more burst that sorcs do.

    5. We have the sustain of a water balloon inside of a active volcano

    6. At average an arsenal merc I teamed with had twice the healing I had.

    7. In 4.0 it was easy to reach 2.5-3 million damage in a good wz. My average now has been 1.8 mill.

    8. Death field hits for less than it did in 4.0, even though my current gear is about 24 rating higher.

    9. Force Leechs damage seems roughly unchanged from 4.0. Creeping Terror and Affliction damage also seems unchanged.

  6. So i haven't touched hatred since before 5.0.

Respecced today, noticed demolish was gone and replaced with instant ability.

How is it for solo ranked tho?

Also, if anyone has an advise on rotation, I am struggling to find for 5.0, as how to proc the "new demolish" as much as possible.

Any help appreciated a lot! :)

Hatred, while once a glass cannon, has now been reduced to a glass water squirter.

  7. Haha also been saying this for years. The original huttball map is almost a joke with 5.x abilities, pretty much since PTs got their super sonic overrides. People can grab the ball and be scoring before a single plasma probe has run its full course. Heck I've gotten the ball from the start and popped h/o and scored before it ran out. I mean I had a nice timed leap...but still.

I think a lot of people are no longer enjoying regs even, and in addition to the class balances it is also due to so many of them becoming stalemates over a objective as both sides just shower it in a unending torrent of aoe. Another idea could be to have the spammable, instantcast aoes(Sweeping blasters, lightning storm, etc) no longer affect it while other multitarget abilities with longer cooldowns would interupt the channel

  8. Been around and pvping since the release of the game. Generally I've not had much to say here, but I figured it was about time to add my thoughts on the current state of pvp. What really set this off was a game I had today where I was guarding our sorc healer. She had four other people, a powertech, two mercs and a marauder firing off all they had at her for around five minutes while fighting over a point. Not at a single point did her health dip below 70%.

Another game both teams had 3 healers. After fighting over the mid turret for 15 minutes on Novare Coast with neither side being able to score a single kill I think most people just gave up and a lot left on both sides.

So what is my point here? Pvp since 5.0 has shown the following imo:

    1. Healing is too power/Guarded healers are too powerful

    2. There is too much CC in the game.

    3. There is too much AOE that interupts objective capping.

While I know the devs do not know of the exsistance of this forum I figured I'd just add some ideas.

    1. Stronger healing debuffs.

At the moment tanks can add a 20% healing debuff. Boost these debuffs to 50% and increase their duration to 12 seconds.

    2. Nerf guard

Might be a controvertial statement from someone that mains tanks. What I would suggest is a reduction of guard to 15% plus the defense value of the guarding player. This would decrease the value of the skanktank somewhat, and increase the value of the defensive tank, not allowing tanks the best of both worlds.

    3. Only direct damage interupts objective channeling

A while back it was changed so dots would no longer interupt channeling of objectives. Right now there is just such a massive amount of aoe spam from almost all classes that it just makes it stupid. Change it so that only direct damage attack will interupt the channeling. This will end the brainless aoe spam and actually reward players with a certain situational awareness.

  9. Even before 5.2 Lightning and Madness Sorc had their dps crippled.

Powertech are not glasscannons, they are glassfarts

Mercs can outheal 3-4 dps'ers focusing them using their cooldowns

What are operatives? Are anyone even playing them outside of the rare healer here and there, their dps specs might as well be called mild dots in terms of damage, even their ability to interupt has been castrated.

9 second aoe slow? Now way that is too much.

5.2 did not cause any of this. BW devs and their complete lack of insight did.

  10. Can we finally have some class balancing? If BW reps have paid any attention at all to the boards and the game they might notice that the game is currently in its worst state of class balance since release.

There has been no word on any changes from the devs. Are they just completly blind to the state of the classes and spec?

  11. Hello everyone!

I'm back to SWTOR after a while and since was always playing tech-ranged chars (tanks & healers) I decided to take Jedi tank for a spin.

Since I wanned to play from scratch, and do the whole story, I picked Shadow mainly because it can tank and it has cloack which makes solo progress very easy.

Now, I really searched through forums to find straight forward answer to 3 questions and I couldn't find it. Usually people copy/paste someone elses replay form another forum or discussion moves from primer question to a whole new place that doesn't have anything to do with primer question/s.

:rak_03: So without further a due:

    1. What rotation do you use in 5.0? (I'm appealing to Jeid Shadows or Sith Assasins)

I'm currently at lvl 30 and my rotation looks like:

Force Breach to tag all enemies > Force Stun on boss > Double Strike for dmg (1 or 2) > 'at this time if group I pop Mass Mind Control for global taunt or Mind Control if need for single taunt > Cascading Debris for max dmg at my lvl > Whirling Blow > Double Strike / Projectile / Sabre Strike spamming

Deflection and Kinetic Ward I use depending on situation, usually pop one when entering a fight and other if needed

Not sure exactly when to pop Force Potency :rak_02:

    2. Which Combat Proficiency to chose?

For Skillful - Defense if 1st pick for sure but I'm not sure for 2nd one - Pinning Resolve or Clarity?

For Masterful - Misdirection ond/or Nerve Breaking would be my choices

For Heroic - didn't come this far :D

    What to stack in 5.0?

My guess is Absorb > Shield > Defense / Crit > Mastery

So there you have it :). I will try to update this thread as I progress in game, and by all means feel free to comment or post your rotations.

I didn't calculate thread or dps, I just put up rotation that works for me well on lvl 30.

    Cheers

    1. There is not real rotation. Your priority is to keep Dark Protection up. This is done by using Depredating Volts while at 3 stacks of Harnessed Darkness. Harnessed Darkness stacks are built by using Wither or Shock. Keep Discharge up on all enemies. Maintain Dark Protection through 3 stack Depredating Volts. Build Harnessed Darkness stacks by using Wither and Shock. Use Trash or your Maul procs as fillers and to proc your cooldown resets on Shock.

Dark Ward should be kept up at all times. Without it you are a paper tank. Do not use your area taunt unless you really need it. Use Force Pull for inital aggro on bosses. Force Potency becomes a powerful defensive cooldown later on. It has a short cooldown so feel free to use it often.

    2. For combat proficienies I prefer these:

    http://dulfy.net/2014/10/13/swtor-disciplines-calculator-swtor_miner/?link=dGEBAABGAgAAGgEDCAoOERgX

    3. You get a lot of shield rating from your talents and Dark Ward. Stacking absorb will be your priority, but absorb alone without a reliable shield rating is not that good either.. At the moment I'm sitting at around 52% shield with Dark Ward up and 55% absorb.

  12. Out of one Hypercrate, I got 27 Grand Chance Cubes and nine of the 30 packs in the Hypercrate had 2 Grand Chance Cubes in them.

This is WAY TOO MANY! I buy packs for new items but out of 60 item pulls, 27 of them were populated with these crappy Grand Chance Cubes.

    Just 27? I had 42 chance cubes.

  13. I know there was some disappointments in the downtime fun thread, and of-course everyone wants to win something, but in case no one has told you, thank you for giving away so much! It really is appreciated, even if sometimes those voices of thanks can get buried in post.

I know you didn't have to give away anything, but you were very generous, so thank you. I hope that you can do more things like that in the future. Also, don't be a stranger to the forums. Post with us more often, so we can have some fun conversations.

What Eric did was cool. Shows he cares about the community here even if they are not always the nicest bunch. Downtime is never fun, but in my experience SWTOR has had some of the least downtime in any mmo I have tried. Anyone recall how much downtime WoW had? Pretty much every day it was maintenance the game was unplayable for 24 hours and it even had some servers taken down for days at a time at the worst.

  14. Seeing how the reponse to the new chance cubes has been more or less universally negative on every level and forum. I would propose BW do the following:

    1. Refund any CC spent on the packs.

    2. Remove the chance cube and never, ever put an abomination like that into the packs.

    3. Go back to the system of two item per pack.

    4. Apologize and admit that this was a extremly stupid idea.
